No to Newco Day

342

Despite of the most intense lobbying and doomsday predicting from chief executive, Neil Doncaster, SPL clubs have “overwhelmingly” voted ‘No to Newco’, finally rejecting the bid by one of Charles Green’s Sevco companies to form a team and gain access to the SPL.

This is the conclusion of what only last month looked like an unlikely grass-roots campaign which left several reluctant clubs with little choice but to accept the wishes of their supporters.

Neil Doncaster’s position is compromised after his ‘there is little difference between a CVA and liquidation’ campaign, as he contorted to win support for new rules which would make it easier for him to meet revenue targets.

The right conclusion has been reached.  Well done to all.

  1. Look at the final sentence. Surely we can send some? For a start, those who were holding shares in Rangers at the same time as holding office elsewhere in Scottish Football.

So the Celtic board abstained in the Newco vote? Gutless wonders.

I’m absolutely disgusted and my season card is getting cancelled….

  3. Sweet though this day is we are going to suffer financially from the Huns demise. Its therefore vital that we qualify for the CL and I’m sure PL and NL know this. All our energies now should be focussed on that goal. The Huns are dead let others pick over their corpse.

  5. Now, regarding Celtics lack of comment.

Can anyone who has been getting uptight about this , list for me the benefits to Celtic about issuing a statement .

In the interests of balance I have been wracking by brain to come up with any. Cant find a single one, however that may be due to inadequacy on my part.

A great day. Now all our energies towards supporting SFL clubs resist Newco. ¡No pasaran!

  11. PL & DD don’t have to say/do anything until we are threatened.

Stay schtum and let them tear each other to shreds. Remember, they and their PR machine, the msm,are just witing to rip into us mercilessly and stoke the orcs into a frenzy which they will then blame on us,too.

Not all games are played on a green field. We’re smarter than that.

  12. Celtic have an interesting decision ahead re ‘squaring the circle’ over SB’s . What to do with the opt-out SB’s ? Do they miss out on Club12 (whoever it may be) or are there SB’s prices re-aligned to the non opt-out price level ?

If the SPL has said no why should the SFL be forced to accept it?

  14. tomtheleedstim on

Barcabhoy – it depends on what they say in the statement.

If they distance themselves from the threatening behaviour towards the SFL clubs by Regan and Doncaster yesterday then I will be happy.

Our silence on that one issue bothers me. The SFL clubs need support.

And now, Mr. Doncaster, if you are still around, what about that Dual Contract investigation you put in the drawer awaiting clarification of the “status” of said miscreants. Come on, get on with it !

accommodating Rangers in the SFL 3 effectively tramples over all the smaller clubs who are associate members and have been trying for years to get full membership. Trampling on their wishes and desires is not Celtic minded in my book.

  21. Can’t believe those hun idiot being happy and saying they will sit back and enjoy seeing the SPL collapse and many club die. They just don’t get that their non-existent club messed up big time and this is a right punishment. They think THEY punish other clubs by not being in SPL. (facepalm)

I also hope that it was Celtic who abstained from voting . An unnecessary charade when all that was required was adhering to the rules . Voting merely legitimized the farce.
