On Griffiths

1015

Leigh Griffiths problems are significant enough for him to be sent home from the club’s training camp.  While no charges have been made and none may be made, online speculation can jeopardise a successful prosecution.

Whatever you heard happened, this is not the place to repeat hearsay.  Notwithstanding that, it is likely the end of the road for Leigh.

  1. The Big Mhan stated his greatest feat was NOT Lisbon 1967 but keeping the wee mhan in the game 5 years longer than he should have.

We have had our fair share of lost souls in the hoops, Tommy McInally, Patsy, Charles Patrick, Jinky etc.

That’s what makes us Celtic and not the panzer division over in the south side of the Clyde.

  2. ADI_DASSLER…………..

It was his “considered opinion” so a bit of respect………………….

  3. Griffiths was offered a contract extension for a reason.

We are skint and he is/was the cheap option.

  4. Sevco to play real madrid?

    How things have changed.

A wee while ago they were toxic. No one would touch them.

Who are we playing in our pre-season friendlies?

  5. I have registered a closed pool on the Superbru site, which is a Score Predictor game for the SPFL fixtures in 2021/22.

This could be used as a fund raising medium if someone is willing to take on the burden of setting up a pay-in site and setting the prize money and charity donations percentages, or it could be used as a bit of fun for bragging rights.

Either way, the site exists and might replace the much-missed Jobo competition of last year.

    The site is http://www.superbru.com

and the code for joining is roomuser

Please use your CQN or Sentinel log in name for identification. First fixture is 31st July and your predictions have to be in before kick off on the day. If you fail to make a pick you get the default pick, so you get to play even if you forget.

Join CQN Sentinels, my Scottish Premiership league on Superbru! You can find my pool here:

    https://www.superbru.com/scottishpremiership/pool.php?p=12367961

or by downloading the Superbru app and searching for the pool with code:

  6. I had heard of Cork Hibs and offcourse Cork Celtic but Cork Alberts (?) that is a new one on me,

Cork Celtic what do you know ?

The last time they played anyone significant that I can remember was AC Milan…..and they stole the takings instead of giving the money, as advertised, to charity.

Celtic FC foundation helped tens of thousands during the C crisis, they (der hun) donated two bottles of hand gel.

The games we’re playing build higher each time to tougher tests.

Times have changed- they were liquidated we still the same club 🤣😂

    ——-

Sorry – I will try to aim a bit lower.

March 2012: A £21,000 penalty is issued after supporters set off fireworks and unveil an insulting banner aimed at UEFA during their Europa League fixture with Udinese in Italy.

    That banner said “F*** UEFA”

£21,000 is a fraction of the £500k+ in fines levied on Celtic for antics of some supporters….some = the usual suspects.

No equivalence between what they got up to and what LG is suspected of.

  10. PHILBHOY

    Au contraire

Don’t let them kid you, we are far from skint, despite the lack of spend.

The season tickets are all but sold, we don’t even need to pick up the Covid loan from Scottish Govt, and with the big hitters still to be spirited away in the transfer market, we’re relatively well off.

  12. I don`t know enough to pass judgement on this apparent Griffiths `incident` but I do feel he won`t play for Celtic again.

  13. Delaneys Dunky on

I feel that Leigh Griffiths should be chased out the door.

All I have ever liked about him, was his ability to score goals for Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou does not need this distraction, as he tries to rebuild the shambles created by Lawwell and Lennon.

    Sack the waster Griffiths.

  14. !!Bada Bing!! on

HS- I don’t think the Club would have sent him home,if they weren’t certain that things were wrong, and had been proved, agree he’s finished at Celtic, and could be career over, depending on the outcome, hope you’re well J

I was in front of that banner they were from the Udinese CSC, they also gave us a beer tent garden. So sorry to blow away that tail from you😵😱

Fine thanks and I`ll be at Big Jimmy`s Gathering . Are you likely to make it?

  17. Saint Stivs from earlier, the history of Cork Soccer is teams going bust it keeps happening.

Albert Road is an area of Cork, that produced a strong & enduring Club called Albert Rovers, they were a Senior Team but played at a level below League of Ireland.

Cork Hibs were the most exciting team to emerge in a long while in Cork, I was an avid Supporter but unfortunately in 1976 they joined the list of teams that went bust & Albert Rovers were chosen to replace them at League of Ireland Level.

The following year in an effort to expand their spectator base they changed their name to Cork Alberts.

A couple of years later the second Cork team, Cork Celtic went bust, leaving Cork Alberts the sole team in Cork.

The following year Alberts again in an effort to capture more support changed their name to Cork United.

A couple of years later Cork United went bust.

Our current team Cork City is in dire Financial straits, it is a Supporter owned Club, living hand to mouth close to the bottom of the 2nd Division of League of Ireland.

  18. ta for that. QI

For a brief moment I thought surely there wasnt a protestant team in cork at some point named after the monarchs husband , surely not.

so is albert road named after the old german then ?

  19. Hot Smoked @ 6:54

    I agree with this:

“I don`t know enough to pass judgement on this apparent Griffiths `incident` but I do feel he won`t play for Celtic again.”

A likely, and probably desirable, outcome for the club.

  20. Someone more learnered than me is gonna have to explain how celtic are skint.

We have 20 million in the bank end of year prior to the sale of frimpong, elhammed and Klamala for 15.5 million, minus 3 million to man city and we have pulled in 11.5 million to that 20 million so that is 30.5 million. Add 1.75 million for Henry and that’s 32.25 million. There is then an overdraft facility for 10 million. Total of 42.25 million available from feb to june (4 months)

then season ticket sales reach 50,000k in june.

Since january we have saw about 8 players depart many of whom were high earners.

celtic will likely take in another 35 plus million from sale of eduard, ajer, christie and ntcham which will also lead to more savings on the wage bill.

It looks like crowds will return and the merchandising will continue a pace.

I dont see how we can be skint based on my fag packet accounting. The more likely explanation for our lack of signings etc is the ongoing uncertainty around football and the boards need as a plc to reduce risk as much as possible

  21. !!Bada Bing!! on

AP wouldn’t have signed up to a zero type budget, we lost money last year, but never been cheaper for businesses to borrow if necessary.

  22. St, Stivs

Albert Road was historically known in Cork as Jew Town,

It was an area which mostly housed the Cork Jewish Community,

I have little doubt that it was named after a British Monarch, Victoria Road is another,.

A lot of the City Centre Streets were renamed after Irish Patriots i.e. King Street became McCurtain Street, and all the new Council Housing Estates & new Council Developments had Patriotic names.

However the old British names survived in certain areas of the City albeit the name plates are routinely vanalised.

  24. No need for Paul to discuss LG at the moment. Just feeds many frenzies of some on here. Wait and see. The club will thenact accordingly I expect.

What a waste of talent. Get yourself together son….for the sake of yir mental health and the next team you sign for

  26. 10 days to go until we play champions league football and the club as still not signed anyone of proven quality. Instead, we’ve been “locked” in talks. This basically means squabbling over a fee or wages.

I’m ok with this when we are making tweaks and adjustments to the squad – but to dilly dally about when we desperately need quality players is miserly and shows seriously lack of urgency and ambition. Also, when we delay, other clubs get interested.

This is a time for conviction and allowing flex for the lawell business model!
