Our game in jeopardy. There are no words

548

Footballers may be our champions, but you probably have little idea the trouble that goes into getting some mundane, but not contracted, tasks completed.  There are exceptions, but the industry has a hierarchical system where the powerful (players) make sure their powerless colleagues (anyone else employed by the club who is not the coach or CEO) know their place in the food chain.  Even within the players group, the hierarchy is alive and well.

I have seen this with my own eyes going back as far as Martin O’Neill’s team and it can be brutal.  “Welcome to the club, son, now you better start acting like Beyonce”, seems to be how it goes.  We treat them like pampered superstars and they behave accordingly.  They certainly don’t need to worry about the people who ultimately pay their wages, because their wages are guaranteed, often for years.

Today, I feel resentment towards players as a group, which I know is unfair.  All the minor infractions I have been aware of over the years were brought to the surface by one major infraction.  That’s judging a group by the actions of a few, and we have names for that kind of thinking.  Better to remember Callum McGregor and Scott Brown reaching out to the dying.  Some players ‘get it’ and I am grateful for that.

The game in Scotland and Celtic’s European campaign is in jeopardy because of the actions of one Celtic player.  There are no words.  He can take a taxi back to the airport in two weeks.  Some others could do with a dose of humility, and learn to behave less like divas and more like respectful adults.

  1. Bolingoli will have a 3rd negative test by tomorrow ( hopefully) as will the rest f our players

What evidence is there after 3 tests, a case could arise on an individual ???!

Is Goverment guidance to then isolate for 48hrs after a negative test

How are we being closed down for an extended period in that car ?

Accepting Tommow game would or could be a risk

    Not the Aberdeen game

    Now Bolingoli

Do we sack and save his 3 year salary costs

Or put him up for sale, and risk the potential cost of a payoff to get rid

    Finally

Time to re-implement with immediate effect the professionalism in our squad demanded by the castigated Brendan

  2. Look, thanks ghuys for your comments today, they are appreciated, maybe due to livjng with this for months on end I’ve got a bit het-up, I certainly don’t want to upset anyone.

But it has been drilled into me that we are all in this together and everyone, and I mean everyone in our charity has a responsibility to ensure we do the right thing.

As I’ve stated, while not as much a question of life preservation, the stringent protocols and procedures we go through are the same for footballers. Agreed, not the same for general workers… an example, we shouldn’t use Public transport, if we really need to a risk assessment must be undertaken.

Bolingoli left Parkhead and no one knew his plans, he flew to another country and no one knew he was there, he came back and didn’t quaratine and nobody knew anything about it, he turned up for training without explaining where he’d been and what he’d been doing. He went to Ayrshire and played a football match.

Sometime after the football match it came to light he’d been to Spain, he’d come back and hadn’t quarantined.

Now, it seems the majority on here are quite happy that the Celtic CEO didn’t explain exactly what occurred, what breaches took place, apologised for that happening and took a personal undertaking it wouldn’t happen again.

Why? Because it was all Boli’s fault.

    Celtic are BLAMLESS…

And there is no problem with the culture at Celtic Park??

Yet on Friday Dave Cormack gets pelters from CQN and many ask for points to be deducted from Aberdeen as the Club’s to blame.

    I despair…

Have a good one Celts… We will overcome!!

    SFtBs – I haven’t forgot you;)

    Hail Hail

BSR @ 4:23 PM,

Prefer if you posted here, where the debate rages particularly on days like today.

At least we now have clarity, not cliches and sweeping statements for which you chastised another poster, but said regardless of context Rotten to the core? on a Celtic Blog about Celtic, its no wonder you to prefer, the wee black and white world at Sentinel Celts where nobody contradicts you very often, least not, until todays controversy.

Like a lot of returning Monikers all justifiably angered or frustrated and looking for ‘escape goats’, sadly, once again turning their guns inwards on their personal dislikes, you are angry at Boli Bolingoli but attack the PLC, in the same old way.

You dredge up Brendan Rodgers character assassination, and three ‘out of contract’ players that went well…….like out, of contract, and somebody threw Leigh Griffiths under a bus.

I thought Brendan Rodgers did a pretty good job of committing character suicide, the rest was done by the Celtic support, if you find a club where the fans dish out new contracts for their out of contract favourites, let me know where, and I’ll support them. Leigh Griffiths has been exceptionally well treated by Celtic, maybe they’re just fed up dragging him from out under a bus? Paul67 is onto Dave Cormack, I assume, for his null and void posturing, which is now all, so last season.

You’ve failed to convince me that there is any Jungle or even Northstand soul searching required for our club, which is run and officiated in a manner which continues to flourish despite many, many obstacles, least of all Celtic cynicism.

    I blame Bolingoney

    Hail Hail

  5. Celtic may be vicariously liable for the actions of players. That’s one for employment lawyers and tribunals to sort out. Regardless of that Mr Bolingoli, on the face of it, has been told what is and isn’t allowed by his employers, flouted the rules and, vicarious responsibility or not, he’s wide open for dismissal on a number of grounds.

Celtic have suffered reputational damage here and possible loss of European revenue. Never mind the immediate fixture pile up we now face. Mr B would be a brave man to contest getting his jotters for this one.

I’ve never been more livid with any Celtic player. I include Le Petit Merde in that.

  8. Corkcelt. 8.02

    Agreed.

A lot of the young team, dont know enough about him, though.

Someone put a survey up on Twitter, who was the biggest traitor.

    Judas or K.T.

Incredibly it was 64/36 to Judas.

In my head I thought 100% Judas.

    I don’t consider K.T. a traitor, at all.

  9. remember this was after he turned up unfit yet again.. he had 3 months to work on his conditioning and suspect calf.

  10. The reality is we don’t know why Bolingoli went to Spain and who else might have known or how he covered his tracks,

There was a story earlier that he said he had gone to Belgium which was green listed at the time,

More info may become available as the days go by.

  11. The lad McGill is almost through to the semis in the Snooker.

A huge Tim fan I understand.

Boycotted payment for over 10 years!!!!….still plug it in for the rare bit of sport they have that interests me.

No wonder you have boycotted them, their service is crap, & they should move with the times, instead of

trying to hold people to ransom. So how’s your bet coming along?

  14. !!BADA BING!! on 11TH AUGUST 2020 6:11 PM

    How did Bolingoli get caught?

I heard he owned up last night. Possibly response to the Manager / Captain conference earlier ?

remember this was after he turned up unfit yet again.. he had 3 months to work on his conditioning and suspect calf.

Maradominic, who informed you that LG, had a ‘Rave’ @ His Crib?

Nah, Keep LG, He is a very useful goal asset for us. Go On There, LG.

    LOL

I told you I dont bet.

I used to bet sports online but since my self ban I find it impossible to walk by the machines when I enter a bookies.

    Sad but true.

The only way I can control myself is to keep out altogether…therefore no fixed coupens for me.

Nothing worse than loosing all your weeks wages in 15 minutes…infact I lie…there is worse…losing your weeks wages and everything you have available in the bank in one hour!.

GAMBLING is the worst and although I have been better in recent years I have pressed the self destruct button as recently as 10 days ago!

  17. Even if crimes are equal [and they are not]….I would keep griff and bin Boli because Griff ‘could’ still be a player of value for us …Boli hardly weakens the side by getting sacked.

  18. JimmyNotPaul.

KT Went to Arsenal, for over 70K a week wage packet, & our Club got 25Million for

his Transfer Fee. Good Luck To KT, & He is certainly not a Traitor, KT is one of the

    Bhoys.

  19. Regards the use of swear words: Paul67 laid down very early on that we should refrain from the use of as children read the site. By and large, most people have respected that rule over the years.

  20. Celticrollercoaster supporting The Walk With Shay Legacy Fund on

    Good evening CQN

Well, I tell you what! If we do achieve the 10IAR it will potentially be a remarkable feat! We could be 11 points behind before we play our next game. Looking forward to the DVD already :-)

Seriously p****d off by the actions of Boli! How many other stories still to unfold from other players covid-19 indiscretions across the spfll?

    HH

  21. LazyDynamite,

MBolombaClot, is worse than Tebily a total Bomb Scare @ The Back.

I Agree, Bin MBolombaClot, & Keep LG.

  22. Tim Malone Will Tell on

!BADA BING!! on 11TH AUGUST 2020 6:11 PM

    How did Bolingoli get caught?

I heard he owned up last night. Possibly response to the Manager / Captain conference earlier ?

    —————————————————————————————————————————————

If he owned up and Celtic then informed the relevant authorities, I think that tells you quite a lot about the Celtic corporate culture.

  23. I have watch a bunch of high profile politicians from across Britain break all manner of rule regards coronavirus. Nicola and boris just bounce back the criticism and move on. So to me it seems the political classes break the rules and carry on regardless but tell the rest of us to stick to the rules and throw out punishments if we do not I.e. postponing game despite 2 negative results. By allowing kilmarnock to play at the weekend the scottish government dont look like they are acting for the public health.

Aberdeen had 2 positive results so understandable to postpone games they are involved in.

Sevco played a game before knowing the results of coronavirus testing and I have seen next to nothing in the SMSM.

Ps no charity, local authority or private business is expected to compel workers to follow coronavirus measures beyond what is reasonable for their role. Most employees are not stupid and will do what is expected of them. Some will not but it’s not the organisations fault that individual employees dont follow the rules but it is the employers responsibility to determine the correct action regards discipline.
