  1. Jmccormick,

You should look at swimming, no hip, knee or ankle stress ideal for exercising without joint stress

  2. Good afternoon guys

    And

Just in from great day out with my daughter.

Pub before the game and pub after the game.

The game itself was controlled from start to finish, as usual stray passes and lack of concentration letting them get clear sight of goal a bit to easy for me, all in all happy enough considering we / the bhoys came off a hard European trip

Hamiltontim/Minx. There’s a Male modeling career for” D “if the Uni stuff doesn’t go to plan, lovely boy.. but you knew that…. Thanks for the tickets…

Agree, I fear it may be going that way. At my age I worry about hip pain after 50 odd years of constant football and weight training. Nothing to do with the 40 years of bevvy and over eating of course.

  4. Joe Filippis Haircut on

John Stone from Everton to Chelsea for £36 million in my opinion big VVD must be worth £20 million and not a penny less. H.H.

  5. speysidelhad just caught your post, for eats Digby Chicks is a must also The Park Guest House, the Boatshed at the Royal Hotel and Solas at the Caberfeidh Hotel are very good, booking essential for most but especially Digby’s. I’ll see about B&B’s Keep an eye on the blof. Hail Hail Hebcelt

  6. Callum McGregor played well today, not brilliantly nor badly, just well. He played on the wing when asked to do so and he came inside to make room for the full back as is done by both Forrest and Mackay-Steven too. There was no positional indiscipline involved.

There was never an issue with work rate or discipline with either of our team scapegoats, Mcgregor or Forrest.

Callum was over-promoted because we were in such a bad place at the beginning of last season. He became very important to Ronny because he bought into his plan and did the support running, and scoring, from mid-field which Ronny’s system asks for. He remains a competent journeyman midfielder with only a modicum of flair but he is an achiever who is making the most of what he does have. He would not be in my team but I make that judgement on his ability alone and not on invented or exaggerated traits.

James Forrest suffers similarly with people still accusing him of stopping and throwing his hands up after a losing tackle, a behaviour he once demonstrated but has had knocked out of him for some time now. His lack of tracking back has moved on from being a questionable judgement to a total invention; we have already seen him tackle this season in our penalty box and at our by-line but such evidence is quietly set aside in favour of continuing with our previous perceptions. James can be a frustrating talent, as can GMS, but there is no doubt there is talent and there is no doubt that the managers, who see them perform in training and in matches, rate him, trust him, and keep on picking him.

We skooshed the game today, after a tricky away CL game. We really do not have any complaints about today. I saw two fine inventive goals, a sublime piece of trickery from VVD, a fine bit of composure from Boyata, and some nice interplay between Kris and Leigh. Not one player let us down. We should be glad today.

For, as sure as Mr.Pastry/Thompson Twin will return with some shock-jock nonsense, we will suffer a set-back of a result sometime soon and all the Chicken Littles on this blog will be given ample reason to justify their “Sky is falling Down” posts.

Today’s a day for smiling. Onwards to Killie and back at CP next Saturday.

You never know who agrees with you, in this Pc world in my view people are scared to say how they feel for fear of being ostracised, anyhoo what I’m trying to say is… Get back the blog… Ya fkn” stummer ye” and do what you do best… Promote the Glasgow Celtic…. and farmers lol ah pity poor fkn D that puts up with you 24/7

My son and I enjoyed our first away game together.

Comfortable victory overall. A victory and clean sheet after a midweek european away game , sits well with me.

We have games coming up thick and fast so having a 70% ( copyright Mark Viduka)performance today did not bother me as much as it would have years ago.

The last time I was at a league game at Firhill was in 1996. Their fans are still as annoying as I have always found them. Its between them , Killie and Hibs fans for being the best boo-ers in our games.

  10. harryhoodsdugbitme on

Just back in. Tom Rogic played well I thought and I hope Thistle stay up as it’s the only ground I can walk to! Nice of the announcer to actually thank our support for attending. When did that last/ever happen? Chadwick on Wednesday which always brings back memories of Naka. HH.

  11. Marspapa

You’re welcome and I hope you both enjoyed your day.

As for your comment about D, having seen you play 5s I long held a suspicion that your eyesight was questionable! :-)

Are you needing 2 for Wednesday night?

  12. Go tell the Spartim on

Today showed the importance of the squad, players who’d probably walk into every other league team. Players like McGregor and Forrest offer some respite to the rigours of a long season on industrial pitches. JF may have the talent but lacks in all other departments, his biggest failing is he is always on his heels, never on his toes

  13. weet weet weet(GBWO) on

Southampton have bid £8m for Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk, 24, but Everton will make a rival offer if their centre-back John Stones, 21, leaves Goodison Park this summer.

Just has a very quick scroll back, and I can’t see any large fonts.

Is it really over? Have the small fonts prevailed?

On the game, I thought we had total control, and while I don’t think any of the forward 4 had a bad game, for the amount of control, territorial superiority and possession we had, really clear cut chances were scarce. Griff is a finisher no doubt, but does not suit the lone striker role. IMHO of course.

It was pleasing to see Liam Henderson coming on as sub. He made forward runs when he got the ball which was good to see.

It was nice of the Thistle match announcer to thank us for attending today.

From my seat it looked like our allocation was all sold. The only empty seats I could see were some of the hospitality seats behind us in the Jackie Husband stand.

  16. One thing that was noticeable from Rogic was his willingness to pass then move into space for return.

M c Gregor i thought was decent and followed instruction

GMS was quiet when he came on.

Armstrong offers options with his ability to come inside and his passing range.

Bitton was very good and slack in equal measure.

Boyata stood up to the physical nature of the game well.

VVD strolled it and was our most dangerous.

KC looked lean and fit but i felt he was to wide to be effective

  17. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Delaney’s, congratulations on taking money off the black and tan bookie, William Hill.

  18. SFTB,

Thank you for your contribution earlier. I agree about McGregor being overly used early last season. Forrest, imo, has all the talent be a real asset, if we get behind him and he recovers his confidence. I don’t know the reason, but a lot of the support seem to latch unto a particular player and make him a scapegoat. Sammi was another in recent years. Some seem to defend players, like, imo, Izzaguirre, who has been largely poor , especially at crossing the ball, for a long while now. The excuse seems to be “he gets Celtic”. I hope I get Celtic but that should never be enough.

  19. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Saltires, i hope you had a good time with Mr D last weekend. I haven’t seen him for about ten years now.

I assume he is still working for T K Maxx. Could you pass on my best wishes to him the next time you speak to him.

  20. northerncelt67 on

While its always nice picking up 3 points after a tough European game, we never had to get out of second gear today. I think we will have too many games like this to overcome and it sums up perfectly what John Collins was claiming in one of the rags today. We face a lot of dross in the Scottish league but the reality is … there is nothing we can do about it ( except keep winning of course!)

I wasn’t always convinced by big Virgil and felt he didn’t always produce his best form on the big European stage but to be fair to him, over the last 6 months he has oozed class. I agree with Chris Sutton, Celtic shouldn’t entertain bids of less than £20 million for the big man.

We also need another striker, I like Griff and we will have to give Cifti a few games to sharpen up but we still need someone else to come in with a proven record. I am sure this will happen should we dispose of Malmo.

If not, we already have enough quality to retain the league championship.

  21. RWE @ 3.45

Probably as usual , there’s nothing I can disgaree with in your post, and why would I.

Pre match my comment on John Collins appeared mistimed amongst other Celtic match news but was really about SMSM’s bias against Celtic, and this time JC’s articulate insightful interview, trying to explain to a hostile recipient, how football works , and how difficult Celti’c task to qualify for the CL.

Fortunately ‘for the hurting zombie mindset ‘ dressed up as journalists he said, “ ‘No offence intended – but Scottish players aren’t clever enough”.

    Manna from heaven?

John Collins is a retired footballer, immaculate in every sense, working hard at Lennoxtown as a coach with a touch of the European experience and aristocracy.

My personal view is that he shouldn’t speak with any Scottish Media and he is too available, and should retsrict himself to Celtic TV, or even CQN.

SMSM will never change due to the demographic, and hasn’t since Jock Stein knew how to demolish them, whenever it took his want.

  22. This could have been a banana skin I suppose, but Partick are barely an SPFL quality side.

We did drop points after our European excursions last season, but given the quality of today’s opposition there were zero and nil chances of a repeat of last season.

It may also be a measure of how much Ronny has achieved in a year.

Being charitable, I’ve just returned from mass, I will attribute the lack lustre insipid display down to travel weariness and personnel changes, forced and tactical.

Too many players just didn’t get involved today, and those who did decided not to turn up for the second half, when they allowed a very limited Partick team to get back into the game.

Craig Gordon must have thought he had a strong case of BO today. He was the loneliest man in Firhill, especially when he was defending the no spectator end.

I wonder if he feels guilty about picking up his pay cheque.

VVD was again the pick of the outfield players.

I saw John Stones get absolutely skinned yesterday, which surely must have made Chelsea think twice about their 26 million pound bid.

They would be better advised to offer us 15 for Virgil and give me 1 million for the advice, saving themselves 10 million.

I was happy with Commons’ flashes of brilliance.

As a Happy Clapper, founder member, new applications welcomed, I am satisfied with the 3 points, clean sheet and perch abune them aw, but I have no doubts that a vast improvement is needed in some quarters over the next two games if we are to progress in the CL.

PS I’ve seen some absolute dross in the EPL this weekend.

If Liverpool and Stoke are the standard, then Sky and whoever else shells out for this poor fare from an over hyped competition needs their heads closely examined.

  23. Big up to two young ghuys who drove down from Wick this morning to

    exotic Firhill.

Pair of eejits forgot they left their banner in the motor, mind.

    HH :O)

  24. I heard he was dead on

Pleased with the result but I would prefer more goals to go on top of the domination.

They may come yet and we should factor in the travel the squad just went through.

Rogic could yet play a big part after being well out of the picture. That’s pleasing.

You do notice a lack of drive and energy when Broonie doesn’t play. Hopefully he’s ok for Wednesday along with Armstrong.

Big shout out for rec for Spuntinis on Byres Road. Not long left there heading back to Buchanan St Bus Station. Excellent tapas offer for lunch of 3 dishes for £7.99, the large peroni not too shabby either. Good quality food at a very reasonable price, well happy – thanks. Just quaffing another peroni, or 2, before getting the bus back to Dundee.

    Dallas

University Cafe shut today, maybe next time – thanks also.

Enjoyed the match, thought McGregor had a decent game today, and satisfied with the result for my first visit to Fir hill since 1971.

    ————————–

I have plenty good to say, and have said plenty over the last FORTY YEARS.

I will never undermine,or, denigrate, Celtic – however I will always call things as I seem them.

I am at CP for every match and dearly wish we were a better football team, than we are – but I believe we are the best club in the world.

We will ‘wither slowly on the vine’, if we are unable to break free from this FOURTH-RATE set-up, in which we unfortunately inhabit.
