Got to disagree on Mcgregor comments on playing to instruction, he wanders constantly out of position, yes probably looking for the ball, but at 22 he should have far better positional sense.

He constantly leaves huge gaps where he should be, and is poor tracking back etc,

That is where I see problems with his play

Croftcelt, now if rumours are to be believed, and this came from inside Celtic park, Mcgregors phone tunes would not have been out of place in Coatbridge yesterday with the bands celebrating their culture, I heard a call came in and a tune went off in front of Lenny ?

Lenny’s response was to get rid – all allegedly

    Hail Hail

  2. Can I add, the way we are playing at the minute is Not creating many chances for our strikers, needs tweaking to get them better involved ?

    Hail Hail

  3. Friesdorfer glad you liked it plenty of good eateries in that area, did you manage a pint in Tennents? Safe trip on the road and the miles to …….. Hail Hail Hebcelt

That code is not working for me- getting the message – not a valid league code

    Cowiebhoy-

I watched the lad, of whom I am not a big fan as a player, and I saw none of the issues you reported. I have vivid memories of him hugging the touchline and of him going inside when the full back advanced. I did not see aimless wandering in search of the ball but I did see him joining in with attacking moves as the play develops.

Perhaps where you see indiscipline, I see initiative and bravery. Despite my modest appraisal of Callum’s talents, I have no other extraneous info on his private life, relevant or not, to influence my opinion on what I saw.

Callum had a good productive game and will have earned plaudits from his team-mates and management, which is what counts in the end.

  6. A walk in the park today

    1 game at a time ,

    Job done

Ps Malmo got 5 yellow cards & a red in their 2- 1 win today, expect it to be a battle when we meet, Celtic need to be clever against them .

  7. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

    Friesdorfer, thank you.

I’m glad you enjoyed your meal. It sounded great value.

The University cafe serves basic food but its great. The chips are cooked in their chippy next door and are very tasty.

The family who run it, the Verrechia’s, might be on holiday.

Have a safe trip up the road after a win for us and a good meal plus nae rain so far today.

Again we will have to agree to disagree, but that’s ok :-)

Do you have detail of the plaudits from team mates and management ?

Just prior to Kris Commons being substituted, the commentators stated and thought it was McGregor who was about to be substituted, why was that ?

He had lost possession 4 or 5 times consecutively, just prior to this, he may have been tiring ? I seen him do this out of his position.

Incidentally he did change sides in the 2nd half and was slightly better positionally

    All in my opinion

And may I add he will get my support when playing, I cannot see what warrants this in our team though

    Hail Hail

  9. Hebcelt,

Didn’t manage Tennents unfortunately, needed to get back into town to make the bus time.

    Thanks both.

McGregor was being subbed as the bench thought he had been injured he signalled to the bench he was ok, don’t care about his choice of phone choons but also not fussed with his football ability, glad we won and thought Boyata was pretty comfortable, VVD also strolled through the game if/when he leaves like Wanyama, Hooper, Dalgleish and whoever else once they choose to walk out the door they are gone

Apologies, I should have used quotation marks when I was merely lifting an amusing

    comment, about your earlier obloquy.

I doubt I’d ever have anything personally to say about any of your posts, as I learn only to

exchange with posters I know are Celtic fans.

  12. SFTB,

apologies, I don’t understand the issue – others have already managed to register for the CQN league using that code. It’s possible that they are updating the results at the moment and it might be available later tonight after they have refreshed their system. In week 1, there always seems to be gremlins !

Is there anyone else who tried to join but has NOT been able to register for the CQN FFL league using this league code : 584394-608012

If you want, you can send me an email to fleagle29@ymail.com and then I will invite you directly from the FFL website, maybe that will make a difference ?

    Cheers, fleagle1888

  13. Gerryfaethebrig

He lost the ball, and started stretching as though he had cramp, now that frustrates me

I am also not interested in his choice of tunes, I have seen better in our youths than what I have seen in him, my opinion, and would rather give some of them a chance

Now might be being really harsh here, but if coming through our youths and at 22 if not established, time to move on ?

    Hail Hail

  14. Watching the game and after 20 odd minutes Izzy had already put in two excellent crosses that Griffiths was unlucky not to score from.

    Oh, good finish Rogic!

  15. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Cowiebhoy

I don’t disagree, maybe Ronny is putting him in the shop window, I listened to Ronny’s interview before the game and he said he was surprised Tom Rogic hasn’t started a lot more games, he more or less said its up to him and Ronny would play him, as for McGregor Ronny said after match he has being doing well in training so I suppose maybe his reward was getting in the team today… I like Rogic, not many players these days plays with their “head” up, Naka & Lubo were mentioned earlier, great footballers who never had to look at the ground to see where the ball was, not saying Rogic is in their class but quite refreshing both him & Nir are comfortable knowing where the ball is, as for Broony, wouldn’t matter where his head was I would always have in our team, I realise h was rested today and yet again good management if we keep winning Roony, Johnny & John are doing well

  16. Fleagle

That seems to have been the case- my application has now been accepted

    Cowiebhoy

I did see McGregor lose possession a couple of times late on but I also remember many more occassions throughout the previous 60 minutes or so where he had been playing well. Commons was substituted off with 2 minutes to play- it was no more a criticism of Kris than it would have been of Callum, had he been chosen to come off. It was merely the 3rd substitution in a match where Callum had contributed his weight to our bossing the game.

Most of us agree that Callum lacks a Unique Selling Point as a player except effort and goals (a valuable currency to trade in). He has no great pace, no great trickery, is a moderate tackler and passer but he contributes.

Today, he showed me that he was willing to follow orders and be a team player and his performance benefited from it. I saw his manager and team mates congratulate him as he left the field- no one was shouting at him or correcting his approach.

In the end, I suspect Callum will fall slightly short of establishing himself with Celtic and may have to move on but playing for Celtic remains a high bar, thankfully. You have to get past 19 full internationalists in our squad and then past other young rivals to get a game. Callum has got to live the dream on nearly 20 occasions so far and has 5 Scotland U-21 caps. He is doing fine but he knows he will have to be better than fine in order to continue to be part of a competitive 18 to 20 man squad of regulars.

I read your comments about Izzy, he covers some amount of ground up and down that left hand side, his distribution, like most full backs, can be questioned but he more often than not puts in some decent balls, there aren’t many left backs out there I would have before him

And for good measure, he gets us and his interaction with fans at the end of games (which has happened for seasons) is much appreciated

  18. GERRYFAETHEBRIG on 9TH AUGUST 2015 7:14 PM

Like any footballer he can have bad days. It’s very, very difficult to pick out team mates in packed penalty areas. What I’m looking for is wide players to put the ball into decent areas where the ball can attacked, I think Izzy does that on a reasonably consistent basis.

  19. I’m sorry but anyone who thinks John Collins comments are not I’ll advised, should take of the blinkers. While his comments have an element of truth, they are also arrogant. Celtic didn’t get humped of Legia because of the scottish league, Celtic were beaten because they were abysmal and under prepared. Collins is someone I backed to be Ronny’s deputy, but feel embarrassed at those comments.

Delaney’s, the Horse and Barge might get some of your winnings spent in it tonight.

I enjoyed going to an away game with my son for the first time. I hope its not the last.

Totally agree, some of the fitba between Stokesy & Izzy was a joy last season, any half decent footballer would appreciate the options Emilio gives you

Anyway great 3pts today, Miss GFTB demanding the iPad so am outta here

Mr Pastry hope you are looking forward to the MalmoFF game, worst case scenario we have the Europa group stages to look forward too but am quietly confident that Ronny will be hearing Zadoc the Priest this season

    good night and Hail Hail

Spent a few quid in there today. Tickets for Benicassim next July bought. 85 euro for 4 day ticket. A steal. Glad you and your bhoy saw a good Maryhill victory.

  31. John Collins was absolutely correct in what he said.

Scottish football is at a level where you can make mistakes and not be punished.

Mark Warburton has come in and, like Ronny did last year, tried to implement a style of play where it is pass, pass, pass.

Against Hibs and St Mirren they gave the ball away in dangerous areas on 5 or 6 occasions. They weren’t punished.

Last summer we gave the ball away against Legia and were punished.

    That’s the difference.

Now we play a more measured game, particularly in Europe.

It is up to the other Scottish clubs to strive to improve, there is no need for us to massage their ego’s.

John was trying to explain the changes we have made and give the Celtic fans an insight into the club. Let’s not criticise him for that!

Thanks for the corrections, no need for the name calling to fellow Celts. HH
