Profitable transfer fantasies

761

Neil Lennon did us all a favour yesterday by dismissing rumours that he was targeting a striker from Vitoria Guimaraes as nonsense this early in the transfer window. The guidelines are set for your summer ahead. As well as being nonsense, though, it is also profitable news fodder; just think of the amount of advertising which has been wrapped around this story.

What does this teach us? I reckon that the least informed contributions left on the CQN comments page are about as reliable as what passes for mainstream ‘news’. There is a good possibility that even the player didn’t know Celtic’s position on him until it was reported yesterday.

Celtic will be trailing up to 30 players at any point in time, all of whom will have passed one level of scrutiny, but at least 20 of whom would never pass all levels, even if a deal was possible. When players are being scrutinised the position of the club will always be to show courteous interest in proceedings. You and I know what this really amounts to.

Willie Wallace’s autobiography, Heart of a Lion, is now back in stock, order your copy below:

You can never be under dressed for a restaurant I have eaten in the best places in the world always in jeans and a t-shirt, shirt they are in the service industry and you are the customer.

The only place i have ever been refused entry is to some two bit lounge at Parkhead where I need to wear slaters trousers and Mackays shoes for a free pie

  3. Shameless re-post, whilst we’re all appreciating the Thai Tims:-

For all you CQNr’s from The Shire, who are already suffering close season withdrawal symptoms, why not get yourselves down to The Hamilton Palace Sports Grounds on Saturday and Sunday!

Blantyre Soccer Academy will be holding their second annual “Reamonn Gormley Memorial Soccer Festival”, for teams from 1996 – 2007 age groups, in aid of The Good Child Foundation Thailand, and Yorkhill Children’s Foundation.

Games will be played between 10.00am and 3.00pm each day. I’ll be there on Sunday with my wee team, Moorlands FC 1999′s, who are currently doing very well in the Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Youth League.

    “MON THE REDS!” :-)

We’ll be in the double green gazebo! Come and say hello! (:-))

Are the persons in charge of Scottish Football in place forever or do opportunities for elections come along periodically? I would imagine the SPL clubs would have in place a schedule for such periodic elections. The SFA I don’t know about nor the SFL. Are they there forever? Are we approaching elections? Are there ever job reviews? performance reviews? Because it would appear that the majority of fitba comments on the various blogs view their performances as dismal and that opinion may be a shade too positive. Does embarrassment not motivate people any more ?

Funny funny but seriously I would be interested in being informed. I’m guessing that there may be no relationship to democracy. Yes? No ?

  10. Re the delivery of the CQN orders for Heart of a Lion.

We agreed with Willie that he would sign the CQN books and he completed this task last Wednesday – and there was a mountain of books for him to get through.

Then there was requests for individual messages which we fulfilled – and each one has also been signed and the special message added.

All books where then dispatched to the fulfilment house in England and they were all posted out on Thursday and Friday so they should have arrived now or are about to arrive.

Thanks to everyone for their patience. Please let us know by Friday if you haven’t received your copy.

from what I understand reading between the lines on here, PL will only make his move AFTER JR has agreed terms with another club (Derby presumably), but hey ho who knows whats happening.

  12. The Moon Bhoys

JR will be on holiday. If Celtic want him they will get him. If we don’t sign him it’s clear that we didn’t want him.

Either that or the price was higher than Neil Lennon thought he was worth.

I looked at the Reamonn Gormley memorial hall video again and it struck that it’s amazing what can be achieved if the money collected for charities is not pilfered.

E.g. to meet the day to day running costs of a football club.

Have we signed ole Thingy Ma Bob from What Yae Call Em?

    A done deal apparently.

Come on Celtic – get the finger out, the guy’s already told us he’ll help us all forget about Harry Hood…

That would be great if you can make it at some point, I’ll save a chair for you!

I’ve just realised that The Thai Tims have actually been in our double gazebo! I lent them to Fr. Lamb when they visited St. Joseph’s last year. We set them up in the garden next to the Chapel House, for the Face Painter!

    Hope he got paid!

Mungolian bhoy- limited democracy, within a cartel.

So when they canvas the views of supporters in genral on any subject, say League reconstruction, these views are ignored.

Although they may argue that it was supporter power that helped send the Sevconians down into the abyss of Div3.

Well that news is not very encouraging. Now I can see why everybody is so frustrated and angry even the huns. When the fans of the two biggest football organisations in the country are dissatisfied with the performance of the organizers of our national sport, there’s nothing that can be done. I thought your comment about N. Korea was a joke now I see- you were serious. Appreciate it. HH

Well spotted. It took a dip in price of more than 4.4% to allow someone to get rid of 14,400 shares, from 66.5 pence to 64 pence.

And then, I know the numbers are tiny, but notice that a further two pence had to come off before the next sales went through (at 62), not recognised in the official sale price, but interesting. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Many thanks. Just arrived back home after lunchtime post inspection. Delighted to record my book was there. Central London post can be erratic.

Looking forward to reading Willie’s book and remembering very many 1960s days. The only time in my entire lifetime did I place a bet on Celtic to win a game ( other than a pools coupon ) and Willie Wallace delivered 2 goals at Ibrox in a very comfortable win. Great man.
