Rangers, streetwalkers of football, face their deadline

778

There’s something undignified at the shenanigans at Ibrox right now.  Despite being under no pressure to pay the disputed tax demand, Rangers are tarting around their top player in a desperate attempt to raise money.

After the Plus Stock Exchange suspended dealing in their shares the club stated it would produce overdue accounts for season 2010-11 around the end of this month, which coincides with the end of the transfer window.  Any auditor needs to be in a position to state that the company has enough cash to be considered a going concern before he would be in a position to sign-off the accounts.  Rangers are now in a desperate bid for cash as their self-imposed (late) date to provide shareholders with statutory information has arrived.

Claims were made that a front-loaded war-chest was made available to Ex-Rangers manager, Ally McCoist (still too early?  Hmmmm) at the start of the season and it was subsequently suggested that a £9m bid was rejected for Nikica Jelavic, but now the same player is available for a fraction of that sum – available for cash, that is.

McCoist kept their season alive but as reality dawn and Neil Lennon’s Celtic turned up the heat, his challenge abated.

The trusty old media, for so long a crutch throughout Rangers rather unique history, are set to desert the White Star Line’s most famous vessel.  The day draws near.

  1. So.

The Currants are going belly up?

And the Daily Tanker has it as an exclusive?

    Hmmmm…

Looks like I chose the wrong week to give up my CQN addiction.

If Jelly has been sold then surely the cash would offset any need to go into administration this week?

Or has wee Craigie already received the formal verdict from the tax tribunal and is pulling the plug completely….?!

We were led to believe that admin didn’t suit Whyte, so why the rumours about admin on Wednesday?

Not at all confirmed but a junior hack says the story is all about Whyte and that he will be out of the club in 24 hours.

As in the Merchant of Venice: I want my pound of flesh!

They might lose their history – go on record as being financial incompetents, tax evaders and worse but someone somewhere will seek to raise them from the dead – I expect their type of society will facilitate some kind of re-birth!

Leased stadium (new landlord) – different board and management – new name and kit (orange) – same mentality but with a debt free slate even if means they start in Div.3.

Like an incurable bacteria they will go through a period of metamorphosis but they will come back in some shape or form.

  6. tommytwiststommyturns – The cash is needed to pay the administrator and keep Whyte’s profit up. Administration is not free, it is really rather costly :)

  7. Long time lurker first time poster. Thank you to everyone for making this site a must visit on my daily Internet cruise. As a US based Celt, the blog / updates / comments etc are priceless. Regardless of what the future holds for rfc, this has been a great TW. Team are currently getting results, the squad is being improved (hopefully), and NL continues to learn and improve as a manager. Yesterday was comfortable without being spectacular. Expecting more resistance from ICT this weekend, hopefully NL plays a physical team, plus Samaras.

Just got a text that RTC comments stating police presence been requested at Ibrox later this week – see some references to it on the latest RTC post, but no source? Rumours goin a bit mental, or any basis? Anybody?

  9. They will return in new clothes, don’t anyone doubt that for a moment.

It’s what type of entity is it going to be, that’s the question now.

They will start from scratch with the “No Surrender” mentality firmly planted as its foundations, under a new guise por cierto.

My man tells me that the first edition apparently has Claros to Hibs as the back page splash, a story on Molina coming to Celtic and two pages on the Polish striker. The second edition has five pages of Rangers are doomed and Craig Whyte is a lying wee sheidt.

My man tells me there are no cracked crests but Craig Whyte is getting crucified. Tomorrow is going to be a bad day for those behind the scenes at Ibrox.

I have never been in favour of capital punishment, not the capital part anyway.

Justice is all I crave. Send them down to Division 3, make them claw their way back up from the gutter and in doing so give a shot in the arm to the entire setup they have disenfranchised and conned, and I will be satisfied.

Agree with Paul, excellent post, big Jock’s CV is still expanding, even now,no wonder they didn’t want him knighted, the big mhan handed that club a shovel to try n escape the temperature in his shadow, their penchant for jingoism helped lead them to dig for victory but they didn’t realise what they were digging.

RL – I had a company that went into admin, so I know what these vultures charge! (it was minimum £200 per hour for a really small company, so God knows what these feckers will pocket!)

Admin wasn’t CW’s preferred route, but if his cover has been blown let’s see what happens! :-))))

Welcome, do you have any plans of going to the North American CSC’s in San Francisco in June? Was thinking it would be good to do a USA/Canada CQN meet.

For what reasons Russians would make an offer on the last day of the transfer window here? Do the Skysports are that much incompetent that they don’t know that Russians can still buy players three weeks into February ?

Isn’t there something about security people coming and placing great big padlocks on your stadium and training ground doors and not letting anybody in? Didn’t Tony Mowbray have to take training on a public park when he was captain of Middlesborough?
