  1. What Burke has done under Lennon to warrant a start today is a mystery to me. Likewise with Mikey Johnston.

Lennon can not be manager next season. We deserve better and must demand better.

A top manager with a 20million transfer budget is a must if we’re serious about the ten.

  2. Thank you for your service Neil. You’ll always be a Celtic great but it’s time for you and Celtic to move on.

  3. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Non-performance is worrying, albeit the game is meaningless.

It can’t be Lenny I’m sorry to say. Giving it to him would be a mistake of mammoth proportions in the year of the 9.

Need a good level of turnover of players too, to freshen up the team and increase motivation. Retain the core and add some quality.

I think the club will retain Lenny and tinker with the team round the margins. If so next year could go either way.

  4. Lennon demonstrating the blindingly obvious in that he is not fit to take our club forward. Inept tactics, clueless substitutions, negative team selection…an embarrassment.

  5. Candyass commits second foul in his 90 seconds on field

    FK wide left

Too high for Jozo as he heads wide.

  6. That was a two nil drubbing to be fair but which team are champions and which team is on the verge of a treble treble?

  7. Shambles utter shambles, a temp manager who has made it clear this is not his team or tactics, whoever is responsible for setting the team up this way today, zero threat no dig will need to go and now.You cannot win these types of games by not competing all over the park, many seem to be missing Rodgers, if so get out of the club, gutless.

  8. FT 0-2

    We deserved nothing from that.

    A spineless and clueless performance.

    Back to bed methinks.

  9. i'vehadtochangemymind on

far from a meaningless game –

lennie’s got a chance at the treble

the squad needs a lot of changes

it’s far too easy to predict how we play

If we do the treble, it’s a Pyrrhic victory for lennie ( of course winning the treble is beyond important for the club and an outstanding achievement for us) because he’s had to cope with a mixed up squad and a huge injury list resulting in poor performances and a bizarre lack of feelgood !!!!

Could get a centre forward (OE plays outside the box)

BR is a knob in my humble opinion

  10. Celtic should give Sevco a guard of honour as they leave the field. So says the cynic in me.

  11. Candyass commits second foul in his 90 seconds on field

    FK wide left

Too high for Jozo as he heads wide.

    FT

  12. The same as any other celtic defeat AFTER WE HAVE WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP, filled under “not nice, but dont care a jot”.

Means nothing to next week trophy ceremony, or the cup final or champions league qualifiers or next season.

If your wound up by it, take a deep breath and focus forward.

  13. OGLACH

We have lost a game and we have been shite. Yes i would prefer to win but spare me, i recall beating them 3-0 at national stadium after they won the league. Some games matters more than others, than game falls into the less important.

Hopefully we win the scottish cup and end season with treble treble (history) then flex our financial muscle in the summer to improve the team with several quality additions.

  14. I think if Neil stays he could poison his legacy. I hope he has enough about him to leave on the 26th May as a double winning Celtic manager.

  15. Things could be worse…………………..I could be a hun supporter.

    C’MON THE CELTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. glendalystonsils on

It’s all very well dropping soundbites to the press about wanting to reach 90 points , relishing games at Ibrox ,going out for the win etc , but if you can’t send out a team who are organised and motivated to do it , it’s all a bit meaningless.

  17. Somewhere in the ether there is a post that says

We deserved nothing. Spineless, clueless performance.

    Back to bed methinks.

  18. O.G.Rafferty on

As ever, it’s not about what they do, it’s about what Celtic don’t do. They can only reach so high. It’s how low Celtic go that worries me and we’ve seen far too many glimpses of that these last few months for my liking.

There was about half a team out there today, without a shape, without any conviction, or the swagger that should come from being Champions and being given the chance to rub the Huns noses in it.

This summer, like when BR arrived, needs to be one that reinvigorates the team.

Nine is only Celtic’s to lose.

  19. Very, very poor it pains me to say. We didn’t deserve anything from that game, as we failed to turn up. No determination to get the ball forward and use our pace, instead the usual tippy tappy stuff at the back rather than getting in their faces.

  20. Although this is a dead rubber, you never like losing especially to them, whatever version.

Would have been better resting Broonie, McGregor, Eddie, at least, and giving fringe players a go. Could it have been worse?

Looks like Lennie is failing his interview.

The lack of goals (even goal attempts) is seriously alarming.

  21. Unadulterated pish today. No excuses. Lenny picked that team and did basically heehaw to sort things out when it was obvious that neither his tactics or selection were working. And lets not hear any more nonsense about meaningless games. As champions we should be looking to win every game – or at the very least make a pretence of trying. Today we did neither.

  22. Perhaps the wake up call, is one was required, that we need to drop a gear.

that squad wont take us to the 10.

  23. It’s the manner of the performance rather than the result that worries me. Today was meaningless but that doesn’t explain why we looked like we’d no idea how to play as a team.

Passing and game plan completely lacking. I’ve no idea what we did at lennoxtown all week. That’s why Neil should not get this job.

  24. Gave up watching after they scored the second goal. How embarrassing was that? Some players are not trying or we do not have the quality we thought we had? Drastic measures now required. Firstly to see us win the SC, but more importantly to prepare for next season. We lack quality in the midfield, a real stricker is required urgently. in addition the full back positions need to be attended to immediately. I would also go for a Manager with good European experience.

  25. Well thank goodness we put the league to bed last week – a meaningless fixture ? Somehow doesn’t feel like that.

However beautiful sunny afternoon down here today so won’t let it spoil the family get together.

  26. glendalystonsils on

Some real ‘if yer aunty had baws’ comments coming out of the Sky studio now.

  27. No point in a post mortem at this stage of the season – 2 games to get it right for the Treble Treble.

But let’s hope the board react like that penalty shoot out defeat at Hampden – get a top manager in and also invest heavily in the squad. Too many players too used to having it all their own way and need to one replaced by young hungry blood.

Anybody watching the mid week Euro games can plainly see that pace and high pressing are the way forward in the current game. So we need to keep that in mind when we appoint our football management structure and give them the budget to create that winning style.

Much as I liked Lenny as a player, captain and ex-manager, he is not the way forward. We need a manager with fresh ideas and a new squad.

Let them gloat like they did 3 years ago – then we put them back in their place next season.

    Toljan NO; Burke NO.

It always hurts to be beaten by them but I am still wondering if our team got off the bus since the Unspeakables had it so easy. They were better on the day: more appetite for the win; quicker to the ball; hunting in packs; more energy; quicker, more effective passing and a willingness by individuals to take men on. We showed none of those attributes and, worst of all, with a couple of exceptions, we showed signs of being intimidated right from the start.

Completely agree .The huns have improved a little but not by as much as we have regressed. That is why the gap has narrowed.
