This morning’s article in the Daily Record is not a work of fiction. They reported that SFA chief executive Stewart Regan’s “bid to deliver a broad consensus over the way forward also involved discussions over the appellate tribunal’s transfer embargo on Rangers.”
In short, the SFA discussed changing their rules to disband the Independent Appellate Panel process before instructing Lord Carloway to sit in response to the Court of Session’s rejection of his previous judgement.
With two further Independent Judicial Tribunals still to sit in judgement on the actions of Rangers, for the illegal registration of players and non-payment of social taxes during the EBT era, the SFA will also subvert these rules before ‘Rangers’ are expelled from the Association.
After the meeting Regan left for his summer vacation without instructing Lord Carloway to convene the Appellate Panel.
That’s not all.
The scam to establish an SLP 2 in order to allow the SFA and SPL to co-opt ‘Rangers’ into that league is what the governing bodies have planned for your game.
If rules are changed AFTER a club is found guilty and in receipt of a penalty in order to nullify that penalty the game in this country is broke, ethically and financially. Having established independent judicial panels to deal with serious rule breaches the SFA cannot do Rangers bidding without removing all judicial oversight.
We’re back to the days of George Peat walking in and out of hearings for the Celtic manager.
Most disturbingly of all, YOU are the cash cow for this outrageous enterprise. With Rangers gone from the SPL Celtic fans bring all the commercial and television income into the game, and are set to buy more away ground tickets than all other clubs put together.
You are expected to continue to cough up for tickets to Tynecastle, Rugby Park etc, and subscribe to ESPN and Sky Sports – money which will divvied up among SPL 1 and SPL 2 teams, as well as they rest of the Scottish Football League clubs, to compensate for them missing out on a ‘Rangers’ game.
You will also pay more money for those tickets than any other group of fans in the league. Why don’t you just write a cheque to Kilmarnock, Falkirk or Cowdenbeath today?
This nonsense will not bring another £1 into the game, all it will do is redistribute money from your pocket to clubs who care nothing for you. Partick Thistle yesterday released a statement on their site, “We believe Scottish football needs to be restructured, financial distribution needs to be fairer for all clubs”.
“Financial distribution needs to be fairer”! Patrick Thistle get to keep all their ticket sales, commercial and other income. By “fairer” they mean they want some of your money. If you agree with them, write them a cheque, but if you disagree, you better figure out what to do next.
Thoughts that some great victory has been achieved are premature. Prepare for the next instalment.
Our domestic competition is, at best, uninspiring. This disgusting land-grab for your cash will destroy our ability to compete in Europe, and it’s not just the senior team who will suffer. The Celtic youth system costs millions to operate each year, don’t fantasise that it will survive intact.
Celtic currently employ 27 Scotland youth internationals. They are almost single-handedly carrying the future of our national team. This attempt to bleed your club dry will devastate all areas, with subsequent consequences for the Scotland team.
It’s not often I’ve told you the Daily Record have nailed a story but this one is on the money (your money). I’m at a loss as to what to do next.

I see no obvious reason why Italy will win , although I have backed a 1-1 draw. Italy look less of a team than England and the defensive style they have mastered will suit the slow pace that Italy play. Rooney will be due a big game so I fancy them to go through.

The true nature of Ali McCoist is starting to be seen now, shining brightly where our media have failed to shine their torches.
This guy is sleekit, deceiptful and disengenious. But then, we all knew that, even dating back to his role in the barny at Easter Rd when Souness was red carded in his first outing.
Leaving aside his infamous behaviour “that night” (and I don’t mean with Patsy Kensit) at Celtic Park, we have seen this guy at work recently with little or no direct challenge from our sports journalists.
Attempting to sign Daniel Cousin when the club had entered administration? Was he directly challenged on this? Sleekit. Immoral.
His “I want to know who these people are” speech to RFC TV, referring to the independent review committee – when he already knew who they were. He was playing to the crowd, and it can be a pretty dangerous crowd as we all know. Was he directly challenged on this? Sleekit. Dangerous. Disengenious.
His orchestrated “walking away” act when RFC were liquidated just as the equally sneaky Walter Smith just happened to emerge from the shadows the same day to undermine Charles Green. He was playing to the crowd again. Contrived.
His failure to communicate with his players throughout the recent episode of uncertainty around the dead club and the new club contracts situation, failing to return phone calls. Cowardly. Failed leadership.
His bullying rhetoric directed at young Rhys McCabe when he found out he was not wanting to transfer to new club. He was playing to the crowd again. Did anyone directly ask him what contact he had made with McCabe in recent weeks? Cowardly. Disengenious.
His quotes about players needing to be “honest with the Rangers support” over their decisions. Has he asked the players about the difficult position they find themselves in or has he offerred them guidance and advice? Playing to the crowd again.
The incident with Neil Lennon sums this guy up. Sleekit. Cowardly. Disengenious.
I must have missed his contrition when commenting on the creditors who have been shafted by his club.
Watch out for more playing to the crowd in coming days and weeks.

As I sit here today not really knowing what league The New Club in Scottish football will be playing in next season I have been reminiscing about my football experiences over the last few months.
I have travelled throughout Scotland this season watching some of the greats of Scottish junior football. I have been to my first Scottish junior finale; I have been to the Auchinleck v Cummock derby game. I have stood amongst fans getting eaten alive by midges on a Wednesday night at Shotts Bon Accord. The thing that has amazed me is the commitment of these fans to support and follow their teams; to them every game is as important to them as any senior game in the SPL.
The junior game in this country is a vibrant welcoming environment that is full of decent teams playing entertaining exciting football. I have marvelled at the skill on offer at some of the games. Fans follow their teams and are on the whole good natured. The last game I attended was between Rutherglen Glencairn v Shotts Bon Accord, a second division game that was billed as a league decider for Shotts who required a win to secure the title. Unfortunately they only drew and finished second, several hundred Shotts fans had made the journey to support their team. Not 1 police officer was in attendance at this game, not that they were needed as both home and away supporters were a credit to their clubs. As the finale whistle blew the Rutherglen fans celebrated with gusto at denying their opponents the league title. Shotts fans responded with a rendition of “what a shite home support” and both groups left the ground together sharing the odd insult in a good natured exchange of West of Scotland banter.
What has this got to do with this blog you may be asking well Shotts Bon Accord were, in 1995 expelled from the Junior ranks after they refused to play a cup game, saying many of their players had the flu. They used false medical certificates to back up these claims. They were thrown out of the competition. They objected to being thrown out the competition and took out a court order preventing the competition from being completed. Taking things to court was against the Central Region constitution. The clubs voted to boot them out. They were expelled from the Central Region so when they returned they had to start at the bottom again, 3 divisions below where they had once been. They quickly won their way back to the top again though.
Their committee eventually accepted their punishment and they are now back in the top league and currently are the holders of the Scottish Junior cup.
How different is this to how the SFA/SPL is dealing with the RFC(IL) saga? The Scottish Junior League simply looked at their rules and imposed a punishment without fear or favour, wouldn’t it be nice if the legislators of our game could simply apply their rules.
