Respecting the journey

810

This is not a journey!  Respect to the Celtic marketing guys who ran his headline on a story discussing the Champions League qualifying draw, which takes place on 22 July, the same day the players return to training after a short summer lay-off.  You can tell when people enjoy their work.

Last week’s article, ‘We’ve missed them and now we want them back’, referring to the absence of Champions League nights, also had a delicious twist.  That’s all we want back!

It’s been a good news day all round, with Peter Lawwell handing over a £10k cheque to Yorkhill Children’s Charity on your behalf.  The iconic Glasgow children’s hospital closes tomorrow with services moving to the new Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

Delighted also that Celtic received a Platinum Award from the SFA for the standards of their facilities and governance.  We have been awarded by more prestigious bodies but it’s good to be endorsed anyway.

Mike Ashley…….. five counsel to enforce a contract!  It’s like going into a fist fight with a bazooka.  There will be carnage in the weeks to come………..

one of my favourite memories of Italy …. we were in Siena, I think it was …. a fella was my hoops, smiled and shouted ‘Celtic’ …. he was German …. he didn’t speak english, and I dont speak German… but he smiled, pointed at his chest, and said ‘bayern munich’….. I smiled and said ‘rumminege…. ‘ and game him the thumbs up ….. he smiled, said Larsson, … two thumbs up ….

the ‘conversation’ went from there …. we walked with them for a bit … the ladies chatting a bit … he and I looking at the scenery … and throwing out names of great footballers (it started with cetlic and bayerrn)… the other smiling and nodding ….

had a few similars ‘chats’ with some of the local italians … generally, the hoops are a good conversation starter

    was a nice day.

It doesn’t rate with miscarriages of justice such as the Birmingham 6 etc., but Sid took it to heart just the same.

He is honest enough to say that when he was a gang member there was violence between his peers but the irony of having stopped drinking, turned his life around, only to be stitched up was too much for him and he has never stopped seeking justice.

He won’t get it now but in his mid seventies he says he will never give up.

Despite what he has been through he is no longer bitter and retains a good sense of humour. He says the case of Paddy Hill taught him that bitterness can lead to self-destruction.

Glad you liked it. I will pass on your comments. H.H.

  6. Another sunny day here in Vegas, ran into a few CQN guys, nice people good crack, Tims still coming in by the score, tonight is “The Green Night” people are wondering if he will show up ;)) Hail Hail.

  7. What is Mike Ashley’s real objective with regard to TRFC?

Is it just about opportunistic snaffling of retailing income?

Or is he playing for bigger stakes?

  10. Cubist Funk

He has no intention to turn them into world superpowers, he could have done that with Newcastle by now.

He has interest as far as im aware in Portsmouth, Sheff wednesday, Oldham Athletic, Newcastle and Sevco. All I believe he is interested in is Sports Direct and pushing that brand forward through those clubs. It makes sense.

Had to laugh at this, from the DR.

‘THE injunction bans Dave King’s board from spilling the beans on Ashley’s grip at Ibrox and comes after we revealed last month that Rangers were tied to the Sports Direct supremo until at least 2022.’

    Possible contempt of court?

  13. bournesouprecipe on

Dave King has got ‘links’ to several Glasgow butchers and is allegedly keen on the ole Sevco square sausage money spinning initiative.

  14. I Just Dont Get people having concerns about Ashleys involvement with sevco..From what ive seen He’s been involved since way back with Charlie..He could have found a million ways to own them…Its All about the retail…There is no other motive…

I have a lovely champagne coloured cat.

Unfortunately, she likes to bring home mice – but the really cruel thing is that she will never kill them, just plays with them and scares them shitless.

I am thinking of renaming her – Ashley springs to mind.

Everytime I look at the news yet another player has decided Celtic is not for him and has signed for someone else I suspect it is made up nonsense by the MSM.I think any business Celtic do will not be all over the press until they are shown with a Celtic scarf above there head standing in Parkhead.I also noticed the seats with the nike tick have gone and our new shirt maker have replaced them.H.H.

I think they are also about to finally understand that penury thing…

  19. @Cubist Funk

As a sports retailer, he runs a business that is compatible with football teams. He tends to target teams who are vulnerable and have little ability to run their own retail. He ring fences this for himself as it’s usually profitable.

He has loaned them 5 million to secure these rights. King wants to rip up the contracts before he can pay the loan back.

Why would you walk away from a contract that helps your business generate profit before you receive repayment from a shower who never pay you back?

    They should just pay up
