Ronny’s fuel for next four months

1674

There would have been no surprise reading Ronny Deila’s ‘heaven and hell’ season in the Celtic View.  It must have been an enthralling season for the manager but, good grief, it started with an 8.6 on the Strachan Early Season Scale.

These experiences mark us.  We’ve watched footballers and managers grow weary (another word for lazy) in the past, as their early groundwork waned during good times, but memories like Legia or Maribor will inform every decision Ronny Deila makes for the next four months.  He needs to use that ‘Never again’ month as fuel right now.

Did you sign the petition yesterday to demand the Scottish Government repeal their ill-conceived nonsense of a law which the entire country outside of Holyrood, and a few elites at Police Scotland, know is an abomination?  If not, here’s your chance.

Fair point and it must be great for exiled Tims (!) to see their beloved team in their new country.

I would give Leo Fasan a chance as back up keeper, although seen rumours of Darren Randolph

Would also create some space to give some more of our youth a chance to get into the squad

Major changes on way though, and credit to Ronny, he does seem to be able to pick a better quality player ( given the chance)

To reach the CL grouo stages, Celtic will enter the 2nd qualifying round, then the 3rd qualifying round followed by a play-off.

That’s 3 ties and 6 games. We will be seeded in all 3 draws and will be in the Champions route so will avoid EPL, Bundesliga and Serie A sides in the play-off.

Jungle Jim. I sincerely hope you are proved correct in that the huns do not get up. Personally I will never attend a match against them.

However I firmly believe that it is a done deal already. The honest mistakes have been ramping up over the last few weeks. See the ludicrous penalty Hearts didn’t get last week. It’s in your face now.

Motherwell should be preparing/budgeting for a season in the Championship.

I think Sevco are that poor, that they are incapable of giving the MIBs, enough to work with, if you cath my drift. It won’t stop them booking influential opposition players early, and giving them endless cheap free kicks, to punt the ball into the box.

    Geordie.

I agree. When I offered my view, I was thinking of our first SPFL game being cancelled to play a friendly. Also, not too keen on a USA tour which involves flying from one coast to the other. Margins are important in the professional game and players having flown a million miles not many days before KO of the new season are unlikely to be as fresh as they otherwise would be.

I’m lucky enough to share my birthday with these folk and happy that my parents had the foresight to ensure I was born, in the Belvedere, on the day Celtic beat Motherwell 1 nil to win the first of nine in a row. I grew up thinking us winning the league was the norm.

My belief that Sevco will not come up is based on their ability. They are not very good. QoS could beat them ; Hibs should beat them and the Premier League Team will almost certainly beat them.

The MIB will help them. No doubt. But they do lose some games which offers evidence that even that undoubtedly valuable help (from MIB`s) still has its limits.

  12. I would be very surprised if Rangers make it through the play-offs. If they get past QOS, I certainly can’t see them overcoming Hibernian. I wouldn’t put someone else’s money on them winning promotion.

Agree that the huns are truly gash, however it is the nature of the mibbery now which troubles me. It has gone to Defcon 1. The non-penalty decision in our game v ICT and the non penalty for Hearts in recent weeks are as blatant ,open acts of cheating as you will ever see.

These officials now have a mandate from an onboard, corrupt SFA to literally give any decision they want no matter how ridiculous. The officials are unaccountable and have free rein.

Lets wait and see. Sincerely hope I’m wrong.

  16. Geordie Munro on

I heard the huns will romp the championship due to refereeing.

I heard they will trouble us in a cup due to refereeing.

I heard the refs will go all out to ensure they finish 2nd.

Now the refs will ensure they safely negotiate the 3 rounds of qualifiers.

If not…the league will be expanded.

Broken clock 2- bed wetters 0 so far :))

There is no doubt the MIB favour Sevco. Even so, I believe their influence is exaggerated on here.

    Cheerio for now.

  18. The referees can’t put the ball in the net or clear one off the line.

The disallowed Hearts penalty and red card didn’t do Rangers any good because the ref couldn’t stop Hearts scoring twice.

Thankfully the rot was set in by the Gardeners, The Mullet has won 5 from 11, not as if he has made a great difference.

Apparently hunnery reckons they have a decent side if they play with a back four without the dirtiest player in Scottish history for years, the issue for them is whether or not his contract has a clause that says he has to play if fit so we’ll soon see, personally I can’t see how one hun can destabilise a full team and that they are just crap and won’t beat qots even with the extra assistance from the officials due to Scottish football ” needing them in the league.”

  24. Tom Mcl thanks just the info I needed. GM I’d almost forgotten about that one – a belter indeed. Hail Hail Hebcelt

  25. !!Bada Bing!! on

GM-if they scrape through v QOS, the 2nd leg v Hibs is at Easter Road, which is a big advantage, as long as Hibs don’t choke again……

My fear is hibs will do a hibs.

The final game is a tricky one. The prem team have played 4 games less and should be fresher but they are usually a team in free fall and the momentum is with the winning championship team

  27. Pre-season games have to part of Ronny’s prep for CL qualifiers. If not then all the lifestyle stuff and tactical coaching is wasted. No one wants a repeat of last year no matter how many lucrative training games abroad we are offered.

Heard Stefan say during his piece yesterday that Ronny and his staff have given the players an off season plan to keep themselves ticketyboo. Leigh – no Tunnocks products for you then, or there again maybe it’s tea cakes for the whole team :o)

Ronny, in his Celtic TV piece, was fulsome in his praise for the board, PL, his backroom support staff and the two Johns and Stevie – all of which you would expect. But he was very keen to state that he is happy coming to work because he trusts the board and PL. Ronny doesn’t appear to be the kind of man that would be the same with you if you broke his trust.

In his media interview, Ronny spoke highly of the time at Gran Canaria with the team, and with us only dropping 5 points since then it’s hard to disagree. Any trip abroad for a game or two would need to have that Gran Canaria “team building element for Ronny, IMHO.

At this stage, he deserves our support.

Happy Buffday to all concerned today.

While McCall’s record in the league is actually worse than McCoist’s, the qualification bar isn’t set too high.

On the toss side, they need to win 3 ties in succession, 6 games in little over 3 weeks. No room for a bad day at the office.

The odds though don’t change as the ties progress. Win and you’re through, one tie at a time.

I’d not be surprised if they came up.

I’d not be surprised if they didn’t.
