Scott Brown sat down

1251

You know what Dundee United really need?  Scott Brown to turn up at Hampden on Sunday with a point to prove. We’ve complained for years about the way media scrutiny falls haphazardly on Celtic but God help us if we ever acquire the cosy relationship others cultivate in order to avoid the light scrutiny required to keep them healthy.

Celtic players are allowed to drink before their day off (as is the manager).  Scott didn’t punch anyone, didn’t threaten anyone, didn’t drive under the influence, didn’t speak inappropriately and didn’t break club rules.

Had he not sat down this would never have been a story, even if he’d had an additional 10 drinks.  ‘Scott Brown sat down’ is the story – and that’s the worst they can come up with.  Paying someone £100 for a photograph and spending 30 minutes writing about it has to be the cheapest cover in publishing history.  It doesn’t pass the ‘news’ test, it is celebrity gossip.

Pin it to the dressing room wall and he’ll be Man of the Match on Sunday, you can bank on it.

CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner is tonight!  Soooooooo excited.  See you there.

  1. I see that the nation’s guardians on the Beeb have the Broonie story as a headline!

Hurting must be strong among the Huns!

After all there couldn’t possibly be any other stories out there, could there?

I’m sure there will be an in depth expose about old Tinfoilheid next week or the racist raising an army of mugs … er tradespeople to rebuild the bigotdome!

Make no mistake our club is under attack on a daily basis – this will continue and increase as long as the Glib and Shameless Liar and his minions are at the bigotdome!

Best way to answer this is to grub the Arabs on Sunday !

    Yes Alfie,

I have chosen the third choice,

and I see that our Custodians have chosen to make no comment,

so to me there is no story,

    Happy Celticing.

    —————————————————————————————————————

For such a serious accusation, Celtic MUST make a comment – not to do so is to allow the gossip to build.

If it is not true, a firm rebuttal the likes of ” we do not accept the voracity of the Sun’s front-page story regarding Scott Brown” – any other action can be left to after the weekend.

Regardless which ‘rag’ printed the story, the people of Liverpool have shown, and are still showing, not to challenge is a gross mistake and allows public opinion to be formed contrary to the truth.

I agree with you on this one.

I do not know the details of the alleged incident … where/when … but I do think it casts SB in an unfavourable light. If not accurate, I think the club should take them to task on this one. If it is accurate, then I dont think it shows our captain in a great light.

  16. Mike in Toronto,

Disagree mate, it only casts Scott Brown in an unfavourable light to those who dispise him anyway.

I actually feel more affinity with him after this media stich up. I don’t think having a drink or ten will make one iota of a difference to his performance five days before a game.

    HH.

  17. So Scott Brown is a bad role model for kids, well the way some of these kids carry on nowadays , they all have role models , there parents, some who are not fit to be parents, a lot of have all the gadgets i pods i phones etc but the one thing a lot dont have and thats manners, and there bad manners pass on to there children, and them that snoop on people would sell there soul to the devil.thats the society we live in sadly.so Scott enjoy yourself you are only young once.them that took that photo ,probably 3 devil deciples ,Traynor Irvine, Fat Leckie.

  18. What about sevco new manager. He could give broonie a lesson on drinking, funniest video I’ve seen in years falling off car in Bradford celebrations. Give broonie a break, it’s not even worth a headline.

I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one, pal.

I dont care so much about the tabloids, but if slanderous, hit them where it hurts …. in the pocket book! sue the b’s. (and I’m not just saying that to get work!)

And most runners will tell you that 2 weeks before a big event is when they really watch everything they eat/drink/etc… as it does have an impact on high performance. If it happened the week before a cup final, I dont think it is acceptable for any Celtic player, and particularly our captain.

I never cared much for their cheating, etc., but even back in the days, the Italians (who like their wine as much as anyone) knew that overdoing it on the vino and high performance just dont mix. Booze, even more than betting and birds, is the scourge of British football, and a large part of the reason why it has fallen so far so fast in the last few decades.

    Alfie,

I don’t buy any sort of daily newspapers,

they all have there own agendas, and to me they all share the anti Celtic agenda, and

as I said, our custodians have made no comment, and to me that’s the end of it,

but if you think our club should have a internal or open investigation into a anti Celtic story, then you knock yourself out

in pursuing that our Custodians should get to the bottom of this,

    Happy Celticing

  23. Friday 13th

I’m not superstitious, and it was an uneventful day today. I feel all right, and my weight is 58.5 kgs.

I was not so tired today, but my back gets sore now and again sitting in the bed. I didn’t get the Irish News, which makes me think there is probably something in it that they don’t wish me to see, but who cares. Fr Murphy was in tonight for a few minutes.

The Screws had a quick look around my cell today when I was out getting water. They are always snooping. I heard reports of men beaten up during a wing shift …

    Nothing changes here.

Sean McKenna (the former hunger-striker) is back in H-4, apparently still a bit shaky but alive and still recovering, and hopefully he will do so to the full.

Mhúscail mé leis an gealbháin ar maidin agus an t-aon smaointe amháin i mo cheann – seo chugat lá eile a Roibeard. Cuireann é sin amhran a scríobh mé; bhfad ó shin i ndúil domsa.

Seo é cib é ar bith.

D’ éirigh mé ar maidin mar a tháinig an coimheádóir,

Bhuail sé mo dhoras go trom’s gan labhairt.

Dhearc mé ar na ballai, ‘S shíl mé nach raibh mé beo,

Tchítear nach n-imeoidh an t-iffrean seo go deo.

D’oscail an doras ‘s níor druideadh é go ciúin,

Ach ba chuma ar bith mar nach raibheamar inár suan.

Chuala mé éan ‘s ni fhaca mé geal an lae,

Is mian mór liom go raibh me go doimhin foai,

Ca bhfuil mo smaointi ar laethe a chuaigh romhainn,

S cá bhfuil an tsaol a smaoin mé abhí sa domhain,

Ni chluintear mo bhéic, ‘s ní fheictear mar a rith mo dheor,

Nuair a thigeann ar lá aithíocfaidh mé iad go mor.

Canaim é sin leis an phort Siun Ní Dhuibir.

    Translated this reads as follows:

I awoke with the sparrows this morning and the only thought in my head was: here comes another day, Bobby — reminding me of a song I once wrote a long time ago.

    This is it anyway:

I arose this morning as the Screw came,

He thumped my door heavily without speaking,

I stared at the walls, and thought I was dead,

It seems that this hell will never depart.

The door opened and it wasn’t closed gently,

But it didn’t really matter, we weren’t asleep.

I heard a bird and yet didn’t see the dawn of day,

Would that I were deep in the earth.

Where are my thoughts of days gone by,

And where is the life I once thought was in the world.

My cry is unheard and my tears flowing unseen,

When our day comes I shall repay them dearly.

I sing this to the tune Siun Ní Dhuibir.

Bhí na heiníní ag ceiliúracht inniú. Chaith ceann de na buachaillí arán amach as an fhuinneog, ar a leghad bhí duine éigin ag ithe. Uaigneach abhí mé ar feadh tamaill ar tráthnóna beag inniú ag éisteacht leis na préacháin ag screadáil agus ag teacht abhaile daobhtha. Dá gcluinfinn an fhuiseog álainn, brisfeadh sí mo chroí.

Anois mar a scríobhaim tá an corrcrothar ag caoineadh mar a théann siad tharam. Is maith liom na heiníní.

Bhuel caithfidh mé a dul mar má scríobhain níos mó ar na heiníní seo beidh mo dheora ag rith ‘s rachaidh mo smaointi ar ais chuig, an t-am nuair abhí mé ógánach, b’iad na laennta agus iad imithe go deo anois, ach thaitin siad liom agus ar a laghad níl dearmad deánta agam orthu, ta siad i mo chroí — oíche mhaith anois.

    (Translated, this reads as follows:)

The birds were singing today. One of the boys threw bread out of the window. At least somebody was eating!

I was lonely for a while this evening, listening to the crows caw as they returned home. Should I hear the beautiful lark, she would rent my heart. Now, as I write, the odd curlew mournfully calls as they fly over. I like the birds.

Well, I must leave off, for if I write more about the birds my tears will fall and my thoughts return to the days of my youth.

They were the days, and gone forever now. But I enjoyed them. They are in my heart — good night, now.

Why do you Bhoys do it to yourselves? Crazy. Never have a good word to say about us and you know it the same as Tuesday follows Monday, it will be bad Celtic and good cheats fc and then you still come on here and act surprised and shocked at the pundits and the rubbish they talk about us. I come on here to get away from it. Its bad for your blood pressure and Brain cells. I learned years ago no matter what we do they will find a negative slant. Turn it off and think for yourselves.

I do hope these headlines emanate from Peter Lawwelll indicating that he is not going to rubber stamp David King or Murray.

Graham was chosen not only to cury favour with disillusioned huns but to make it easier for those that appointed him to garner favour amongst the Scottish peeple.

On one level I agree with you ….”think for yourselves.” to me, that means, question everything. I dont assume the papers are accurate, but if there is something in it that concerns me, I question it. similarly, I dont assume that the players are all angels. I give them the benefit of the doubt, but if there is reason to question, I question (note – not condemn). Similarly, with PL, if there is something that seems amiss, I think we have a duty to ‘think for ourselves’ and question.
