Techniques to deliver titles

393

I’ve never known Celtic to subsidise an away match ticket before. Put aside for a second thoughts of thanking the fans for their support during a difficult period (which are valid), I like this move for the message it sends to those in the dressing room, as well as the stands.

We are in a league race, and we want to win it. You can understand Aberdeen’s razor-sharp appetite. They’ve not won the league in over 30 years, every man, woman and child in their ranks will be forgiving of faults and profuse in praise.

By contrast, this will be our five-in-a-row, the 11th title in 16 years. It will never come close to what we experienced in 1998, when we worshipped the words of Wim Jansen after a late-season home draw against soon-to-be-relegated Hibs.

For many of us, 1998 was our Celtic supporting high point – it meant that much. Hopefully we will never again be in a place where a domestic title has such importance. Instead we need to find techniques to deliver that edge, to remind us of the importance of getting it right in every league season.

I refer to that Hibs game in 1998 often, it felt like a pivotal moment. We were nip and tuck for the title, what would have been an historic 10-in-a-row title, one which would have violated one of Jock Stein’s teams’ records. That day, it felt like the chance was slipping, but there would be no let-up. We bundled our nerves together and moved on.

Telling the world that the club is subsidising fans’ ticket costs is one technique to help deliver a little bit of that focus. Let’s hit the plastic running on Saturday.

I’m pretty sure if statistical analysis was done of the ratio of headers won/lost by Eric in his time at Celtic it would indicate that he’s lost far more than he’s won.

I like his aggression and he’s a good communicator, however, as I said yesterday, he worries me.

To be fair, I don’t think any of our CB’s have been helped by the never-ending rotation.

Erik and Charlie have been very good since they have been paired together.

    Both can play football.

To me….they seem safer than Boyata and Simunovic.

Id keep them in place throughout the run-in.

    Hope im right.

” event based on animal cruelty, hope every jockey dies,it would make a change from innocent horses ”

You do know that humans are animals, too don`t you?

Also, it is not possible for a horse to be `innocent` any more than it is for one to be `guilty` ( although the Bhoys involved with Cheltenham might disagree!).

I think KEVJ is teetotal. He’d appreciate an orange juice, the wee turncoat!!

If positive thought can overcome problems for others,I think he’s in a better place than he knows.

Everyone loves a winner. Let’s hope he’s annoying us for years to come.

  11. I’m quite sure the fans would rather have the board sign the res 12 complaint to uefa .than a subsidised ticket to rugby park .

You may well be right in saying:

” I’m pretty sure if statistical analysis was done of the ratio of headers won/lost by Eric in his time at Celtic it would indicate that he’s lost far more than he’s won.”

but I would say that is partially ( ie not necessarily `far more` for some) true of most Celtic defenders since I have been watching ( nine years).

I have often wondered about this as other teams` defenders seem to win more headers than ours do. Is this simply a subjective view on my part or is it because the MIB are more likely to punish OUR defenders more when attacking a high ball? Or have we simply had a succession of poor headers of a ball?

My main point remains that supporting Erik at the games ( and I KNOW you will ) will be much more productive than doing what comes naturally to too many at the moment ( at Home games).

PS I think Boyata is very good in the air.

  19. Just popped this off to Mr Regan from my ‘official’ e-mail account as opposed to my private one. Not that the brass-necked one is likely to take any notice!!

    Dear Mr Regan,

As I am sure you are well aware the SFA have been asked to supply some answers to Resolution 12 as proposed by a group of Celtic FC shareholders.

As a Celtic FC shareholder, and one who put his name towards Resolution 12, I would like to know when the SFA are going to move from behind their wall of silence and have the courtesy to reply to the questions that have been raised.

I am sure it has been brought to your attention that failure to answer these questions could possibly result in a legal case being raised against the SFA by the shareholders who have been affected by the SFA’s failure to act in a proper manner when granting a European licence to the former Rangers FC, now in liquidation.

    Yours sincerely,

  20. I couldnae be arsed reading back so this may have been already posted. What the hell do we care?!

Most “dead” goldfish flushed down the toilet are still alive. We cruel humans overfeed the buggers and they become constipated. This in turn affects the swim bladder and causes them to float on their sides giving the appearance that they have sprung their mortal coil.

More useless information you really did not need to know brought to you by a public information service.

Been sort of busy the past day or so, Mrs TET’s Da passed away on Sunday night, all he wanted was a trifle from M&S, he ate it and was gone.

Anyways, many thanks for the gifts re LMS6, delighted with them.

The club giving supporters a £6 discount, while any discount is welcome, dear oh dear, what are they frightened of, the boycott ?

    It’s all about the money.

No further forward with Res 12 either, it really has to go legal, the sfa nor the club want this in the open, again it’s all about the money, it’s no longer sport as we know it.

  24. Delighted to see some shareholders are taking Regan to task. Still waiting on a reply from Sky about their use of O.. F… over and over again last Saturday. No doubt, the White one has told them to ignore the sender and not to reply. Seems only anti-Celtic news or comments are required on that channel.

  25. It is probably reasonable to suggest that Gil Herring was a Green, White and Gold fish. Never heard him carp on about it.
