I’ve never known Celtic to subsidise an away match ticket before. Put aside for a second thoughts of thanking the fans for their support during a difficult period (which are valid), I like this move for the message it sends to those in the dressing room, as well as the stands.
We are in a league race, and we want to win it. You can understand Aberdeen’s razor-sharp appetite. They’ve not won the league in over 30 years, every man, woman and child in their ranks will be forgiving of faults and profuse in praise.
By contrast, this will be our five-in-a-row, the 11th title in 16 years. It will never come close to what we experienced in 1998, when we worshipped the words of Wim Jansen after a late-season home draw against soon-to-be-relegated Hibs.
For many of us, 1998 was our Celtic supporting high point – it meant that much. Hopefully we will never again be in a place where a domestic title has such importance. Instead we need to find techniques to deliver that edge, to remind us of the importance of getting it right in every league season.
I refer to that Hibs game in 1998 often, it felt like a pivotal moment. We were nip and tuck for the title, what would have been an historic 10-in-a-row title, one which would have violated one of Jock Stein’s teams’ records. That day, it felt like the chance was slipping, but there would be no let-up. We bundled our nerves together and moved on.
Telling the world that the club is subsidising fans’ ticket costs is one technique to help deliver a little bit of that focus. Let’s hit the plastic running on Saturday.

Does make me laugh,TBH. We get hammered for a wee verse or two, they get congratulated for a full month ninety minutes.
I said ŵhen I first posted on here that certain songs were not on.
And that we should give it laldy, bring out the 80s songbook.
Maybe we should write a new song. How about one that includes a line about being up to our knees in their blood?
We should be safe enough with that.
Thanks for the best wishes bhoys, much appreciated.

I was just thinking the same :-)

CELTIC MAC .
Think the 0-0 v Hibs was the week before the 1 -1 at Dunfermline. The latter game featured the baldy Ref ( name escapes me ) denying Celtic a stonewall penalty when they were 1 up.

Cannot see what was so important about it, apart from not winning the match of course. The Dunfermline game sticks more in my mind, for the reason it was a title decider. Wonder how it all finished that season?

Once a Celtic player leaves the club he still faces abuse for the rest of his career! note the headline
Fans accused of attacking ex-Scotland goalkeeper at match

Forfar goalie Rab Douglas allegedly punched, spat at and subjected to verbal abuse.
Rab Douglas: Goalkeeper allegedly attacked during Forfar v Airdrie game (file pic). SNS Group
Four football fans will stand trial accused of running on to the pitch and attacking former Scotland and Celtic goalkeeper Rab Douglas during a match.
Ian Bear, Douglas Allsop, Kenneth Murray and Ryan Lawrence are all accused of offences committed at a Forfar Athletic v Airdrie SPFL League One match in April last year.
It is alleged all four men repeatedly shouted, swore and “directed foul and abusive language” at Douglas, the Forfar goalkeeper, then ran on the pitch at Station Park in the Angus town.
Lawrence is further accused of threatening violence and that his offence was “aggravated by religious prejudice”.
The 19-year-old faces three assault charges including allegedly spitting on Douglas’ head before running towards him and repeatedly punching him on the head.
He is also accused of assaulting Thomas McKelvie, understood to be a steward at the ground, and struggling with him and punching him on the chest.
Bear, 36, is accused of spitting on Douglas before running towards him on the park and repeatedly punching him on the head.
Murray, 30, is also accused of repeatedly punching the keeper on the head.
The quartet were due to stand trial on Tuesday, with Douglas turning up at Forfar Sheriff Court to give evidence against them.
He was sent away along with 19 other witnesses because the courtroom was too small to deal with the four accused in the case.
Pleas offered by defence solicitors were rejected by the Crown.
Bear, of George Street, Allsop, 40, of Albert Place, and Lawrence, of West Drive, all Airdrie, and Murray, of Canal Place, Aberdeen, all deny the charges against them on summary complaint.
Sheriff Pino di Emidio set a trial date in July and ordered the four to attend then.

BBC Scotland is institutionally anti Celtic.
No surprise? – there is no media or ‘middle ground’ in Scotland, there never has been, in Celtic’s lifetime.
As you have already pointed out there is a definative, anti Ronny Deila agenda, but it’s not peculiar to Ronny Deila, and any Celtic manager will do, all the way back to Jock Stein and how he was despised and feared.
Every Celtic manager is unfairly treated, unfortunately despite winning domestically they wanted the broken badge over Ronny’s head and some expert Celtic expert fans bought it, before we’d kicked a ball, and there is now constant referal to Europe, and in the SPL when we win it’s expected, except when we don’t.
The problem with the ‘Europe argument’ is that you’d need to go back to at least the early 70’s to see a Celtic team regularly get to the latter stages. Essentially, bar the odd good season here and there, we’ve been perennial flops in Europe for a club of our size for nearly forty years.
What we’ve seen recently is the norm, not the exception and Ronny Deila along with the Celtic support are victims of propaganda, whether you rate the guy or not.
Ballyalton wins the last one at Cheltenham……………………………woo-hooooooooo -)))

John Underhill? Wasn’t he the SFA’s answer to Luigi Collina? Determined to stop Celtic from winning the title. A bad memory not improved with time.

2 things totally unrelated
Celtic pulled up due to chants at an away match! what about 50k secco fans singing up to knees in fenian blood on live tv broadcast to millions?
Re: Erik – i think he is a better defender than van dijk. Note , i’m talking tackling and heading!

Huge advantage vvd had over opposing attackers and defenders he’s compared against is his great pace. Allowed him to recover many’s an initial error or poor position in Scotland. In europe and England, less so.

Nice letter.
But not sure why you thought you might be accused of rabble rousing … Unless by the blazerati.
Are you sure you remembered which site you’re on … ?

Res 12 most talked about subject by fans ? Let’s shift focus ? Am I paranoid ? Has it worked ? Looks like it.
I won’t be fooled by the MSM in this country their main aim is to put pressure on Ronny winning this title.
Ronny winning this title = losing this title.
Sorry.
Just heard Moyes on STV, not very becoming of someone with any integrity, talking about the Celtic position. I would have expected any response to suggest that as far as he was aware the job was currently not available.
Not for me someone who is putting himself out there at the moment.
I suspect this is just posturing by mega and Moyes. On that basis Moyes gtf.
Mega = media
Maybe the sfa can dock cfc 3 points for offensive singing. … the plc board would probably be a wee tad upset but the sfa know they can’t do much as they sold their soul’s to the devil.
Bend down …. take it up the arris then take your seat at the back of the bus where you belong

Think that interview has ruled Moyes out of any chance of being a Celtic head coach , no vacancy at Celtic that we know of but he states his conditions of employment,he also managed to praise Coisty Warburton and Sevco though he did not call them that, total boak of an interview

Zombies Are full of green gunge. That’s why they are in such an angry mood all the time-:))
Neil Lennon doing a live interview with TV3.
Deflected question of any potential return to Celtic, as you would expect.
Sevco TV are really trying too hard in the run up to the semi, tonight’s had level 5’s paw prints all over it, serves me right for watching it :(
A big thank you to the 34 (thirty four) of you who have already, this early in the week, sent in your choices for Last Man Standing. Hint, hint to the others ;-)
TET,
Sorry to read of the passing of your father in law.
Condolences to Jan.
BSR@5.42,
Excellent post that would have us all nodding our head in agreement.
You are correct in that it doesn’t matter who the manager is. It’s not personal, just business.
It started with Big Jock, Jimmy Mc.Grory wasn’t a threat.
It was subtle with Jock.
They were afraid to use their subsequent tactics to undermine him….they couldn’t.
They tried flattery, telling him that there were bigger clubs out there and that Scotland needed him.
The Big Man saw through it all.
Yet, in spite of us all knowing what they are doing, this place and in others, people who should know better, are muttering, ” Ah, but, we need to get shot”.
Ronny is our manager and will be for the rest of this season at the very least.
The MSM narrative is that Ronny is a dud and that he should be replaced by any one of a list that includes Moyes, Malky Mackay, Alan Stubbs and Neil Lennon.
The narrative is also that the Sevco manager is some sort of footballing genius overseeing a brilliant group of footballers that he has put together for peanuts.
Yet if those players we so good then why have none of them got in the massive Scotland squads Gordon Strachan has announced?
And why won’t these MSM guys put two and two together re the Sevco genius manager and link him to vacant jobs like Nottingham Forest or Bolton (where his experience at a bankrupt club could come in handy)?
It’s all about an agenda.
Sorry Jobo .
Will get on it right now ;)
