Of all the football nonsense, I hate scapegoating most. So Ryan, I’m sorry, but what on earth were you doing? We were 0-2 ahead and had created several other very good chances. Milan were nowhere, they had not mustered a cohesive attack. That foul was conceded in the perfect spot for a free kick taker; you could read the script on how momentum would switch the moment it was awarded.
Attackers are primarily there to exploit opponents weaknesses, Tom Rogic, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie combined to do this and put Celtic two ahead in the San Siro. Tom came close on another occasion, Callum McGregor had a gilt-edged chance and having got himself into the perfect position, Jeremie Frimpong froze with Milan at his mercy. We could have been out of sight.
There is a team in this squad. The formation looked right. Frimpong seemed liberated from his normal wide anchor, Rogic worried defenders before tiring; in particular, I was impressed by the way the ball was accurately bulleted across the field.
Oh, and we cannot defend for buttons. I was chastised by a 16-year-old after the game for talking up the relative merits of this performance compared to Ross County. Apparently there is a rulebook for defending two goal leads away to tier one teams, you defend like Ross County and close the game out. But we don’t know how to defend like Ross County. Imagine that!
What I will say is, they fought for their manager last night, Commando Christie in particular.

Once upon a time two football clubs shared a city but not much else.
One club’s recent past was punctuated by unprecedented domestic success and a solid financial footing. They also had an imminent opportunity to win more silverware …. but, admittedly, had made a poor start to the season.
The other club were a basket case. Liquidated eight years previously a facsimile club emerged. During its eight years of existence it won the SROFA (hint – first 2 words are “Square” and “Root”) and posted huge financial losses every year.
Similar to the season that just finished this club started this season very well.
One set of supporters are buoyant become compare.
The other set of supporters are fuming, raging, depressed and rebellious.

Some of us on here will remember the stick many in that team took from the support – and the Board too- yet within 3 or 4 years we were Champions of Europe.
Certainly not a parallel with today’s times but the frustrations of the Celtic support , having won nothing and lost several Scottish Cup and League Cup Finals, was palpable.
I recall my late father having watched many European ties including the 1960 Real Madrid- Eintracht Frankfurt final claiming that if only Celtic could win the league and get into that competition then we would win it because we played our football on the ground ( the Celtic way ). Well Celtic did win the league a couple of years on from that photograph and then proceeded to do what my Dad predicted all along.
By the way if he was alive today he would stand shoulder to shoulder with Neil Lennon ( whilst being a ferocious critic of some Board policies and members )

He is 90 minutes away from another treble.
He’s been to the last 16 of CL as manager and a Euro final as a player.
This current run is horrendous, but the league is not lost yet – although he is walking an absolute tightrope results wise. I get that. Or he would be, if the board were serious and had an alternative lined up.
