Time for an inquest into fragile Celtic limbs

822

One of the things Neil Lennon may have on his agenda for the international break is an inquest into the physical condition of his playing squad.  The season is a month old and Celtic have an injury list which would wipe out pretty much every other team in the country.  If this was an isolated occurrence it would be no more than curious but we have written about, and discussed, the fragile limbs of Celtic players since the Lennoxtown Training Centre opened nearly five years ago.

Since then Celtic ‘lost’ (more on that at a later date) three leagues by a maximum of six points and lost valuable form and points due to first choice players sitting in the stands on match day.

On Saturday our central midfield was without Ledley, Brown, Wanyama, Kayal and McGeouch (on a non-fitness related injury), while even auxiliary stand-in for central mid, Charlie Mulgrew, was on the list of others getting treatment.

The run of bad luck has moved clearly into the realms of statistical relevance.  It is not luck at all, we are doing something wrong.

Football clubs look to sports science to deliver multiple objectives.  Competitive pressure is put on players to become faster and to be able to run as effectively late in games as they can in the opening minutes (which for now is a physical impossibility but remains a key target), but we are clearly missing a trick.

If it’s lies then I am in no doubt the peepil involved will be straight to the courts to make sure everyone knows the truth .

Phil has released his book at the right time.

The publicity he will get in the middle of next week will be international use.

When the worlds populace … says how did that happen ?

    They can buy Phils book.

Is it true that he has already agreed the follow up having been given a large cash advance and its set`to be a book of short stories entitled ‘The Incubator” released in the Autumn ?

It would be remiss of him not to cash in on the free publicity that will be coming his way.

Announcement of the EBT tribunal findings. I think it will be delayed and that two days will not be enough time for the EBT panel to go through the material and deliver a verdict. Which will be good news for Phils book sales as it will not be getting delayed due to anything other than the volume of incriminating material. You got email btw

  8. Perhaps it is Amazon who will have a “leetle problem” (c. PdeC), by allowing unsubstantiated claims to be made on their site.Mmm.

  9. Can anyone clear up exactly what the Sports Direct partnership entails at Ibrox. One Sevconian suggested they’re paying the bills within Ibrox. Is this true?

McCall tips Rangers as the favourites in Well cup clash

    Bert Mitchell

    Sports Writer

STUART McCALL has made Rangers firm favourites for the Scottish Communities League Cup third round clash with his Motherwell side.

    ………………………………

    We’re not underdogs this time

UP FOR THE CUP … Ranger’s Kane Hemmings, left, and Simon Ramsden

    By DAVID FRIEL

    Published: 03rd September 2012

MOTHERWELL have experienced nothing but failure at Ibrox for the last 15 years.

But Fir Park stopper Simon Ramsden insists it will be a major shock if they DON’T dump Rangers out of the League Cup later this month.

Ally McCoist will go head-to-head with former Gers team-mate Stuart McCall in the tie of the third round.

After being made to start again in the Third Division this term, Gers will have a massive point to prove.

But Ramsden, 30, insists SPL leaders Well will be favourites to progress — even though their last Ibrox win came in 1997.

He said: “In previous seasons, Motherwell would go there as the underdogs.

“But now we are probably seen as having the stronger squad and we are a few divisions above Rangers.

“Our fans will be looking forward with a positive attitude and a confidence that we can do ourselves justice.

“It’s a game we’ll relish because we want to do as well as possible in this competition. It’s a big tie for us. Rangers have started the season well, but we’ll enjoy going to Ibrox and testing ourselves.

“We could have had an easier draw, even getting Rangers at home. But we are going there as the SPL side — and going to get a result.

“We feel our starting XI is as strong as anything Rangers have.

“So there’s no reason we shouldn’t go there and give a good account of ourselves.”

May have spoken to you before re the stretching, aaron mattes activated isolated stretching is another form of stretching that could be utilsed by Celtic.

Rather than stretching an holding the stretch

it advocates repetitions of ten or so stretches held for 1 to 2 seconds at a time.

“EVEN IF THEY SIDE WITH US, HE WILL NEVER WEAR OUR SHIRT”

Levante protests at Celtic’s signing of Lassad

    EFE. VALENCIA 09/03/2012

    PrintSend

Levante president Francisco Catalán assured today that even if a European body sides with them in the case, Lassad Nouioui will “never” wear a Levante shirt “in his life”.

“Levante could never want a player like Lassad,” he declared during a press conference, where he explained why the Valencian club lost out on the Tunisian after announcing an agreement with him early Saturday morning.

He also insisted today, Monday, that they feel “cheated and misled” by the striker’s agent and will take “appropriate measures” after the player signed for Glasgow Celtic, when he had already reached a preliminary agreement with them.

“We feel cheated and led, and that is why our current position is that we will proceed to take appropriate measures against whoever we need to. We will see this through to the end with the agent, the player or whoever else,” he stated.

Catalán detailed all of the aspects of the negotiations with Lassad Nouioui’s agent, Karim Aklil, who Levante dealt with on the express wishes of the Tunisian player.

“The only person who we can speak to is with the agent Karim Aklil. That is the information given to us by Lassad and he was our only intermediary,” he said.

Catalán read the documents in which the player’s agent confirmed the agreement for two seasons as well as his consent to make the agreement public, although Lassad could not sign the contracts because he was not with his agent at the time.
