Tomorrow will indicate Celtic’s true position

Since ending their league season on 23 December, Bodo/Glimt have played three friendlies: a draw with Dinamo Kiev, and wins over Denmark’s AGF and Sweden’s Elfdborg, all played in Spain, each opponent is also preseason.  Their next two outings are against Celtic, both should be exhausting encounters for the Norwegians.

You and I have watched enough preseason European football to know what a task this will be for Bodo/Glimt.  Take nothing for granted, though.  Two years ago, after finishing top of our Europa League group, we faced preseason Copenhagen.  A draw in the first leg in Denmark was not enough.  The Danes, who should have ran out of juice before Celtic, scored twice in the closing minutes at Celtic Park to progress.  Norwegian sides have done well over five visits to Celtic Park in the last six years, Rosenborg drew twice and lost twice, while Molde won.

Celtic fans are full of confidence right now.  What we are missing is a test against non-Scottish opposition.  Drubbing a limp Newco gave us hope that we are watching something special.  Tomorrow night will give an indication as to whether that hope is valid.  I expect a far tougher examination.

    The Queen aided Prince Andrew’s settlement of his civil sex case by making a personal donation of £2million donation to his alleged victim Virginia Giuffre’s charity, it can be revealed.

     

     

    It has also emerged that Her Majesty is allowing her disgraced son to keep his title of Queen’s Counsellor of State as well as his dukedom and service rank of Vice-Admiral – despite pressure to remove all remaining privileges, the Mirror reports.

     

     

    As part of the terms of the £2m deal, drawn up by the royal family’s most senior advisors and the Duke of York’s legal team, the Queen agreed to help the Prince on the condition that she was not connected to any personal payment made to Ms Giuffre, it is believed.

    The subsequent £12million settlement with Virginia Giuffre, who claimed she was forced to have sex with Andrew on three occasions in 2001 after being trafficked by his paedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, was the result of intense negotiations between both sides, which were finalised on Monday.

     

     

     

    A source with knowledge of the “complex” deal suggested it was only signed after Andrew was able to provide proof that the remaining funds would be available from the £17m sale of a Swiss chalet he owned with his former wife Sarah Ferguson.

     

     

    The Duke’s only known asset was bought with Sarah in 2014 with a mortgage, on top of private funding from the Queen.

    I wouldn’t describe us as having a glass jaw,

     

     

     

     

    Obviously sometimes our performance drops but that is true of every team,

     

     

     

     

    We have managed to win when playing badly which in itself is a good sign,

     

     

     

     

     

     

    However I do accept that at European level we do have to be more consistent, but to me it’s a shot to nothing,

     

     

     

     

    the League is the priority, we can just enjoy the European adventure at this stage,

     

     

     

     

    Now if we do make the semis the tension will be back big time but right now I’m relaxed & really looking forward to tomorrows game.

    I DISAGREE….When anyone says that The LEAGUE is a “PRIORITY”…It simply means that Celtic supporters should NOT get too saddened/upset IF/WHEN Celtic get knocked out of European Competitions at this point in time. By ALL means, do NOT field a ” Weakened” Team when playing in Europe, by all means give it our BEST SHOT… ESPECIALLY in this Season and next Season, and remember and consider, that Big ANGE is not long in the Job ?
