Turmoil in Zenit squad

365

There’s turmoil in the Zenit St Petersburg squad. Two players, striker Artem Dzyuba and midfielder Oleg Shatov, are in conflict with the club and will not travel to their winter training camp in Dubai.

Both players are current Russia internationals; Dzyuba scored eight goals in the Euro 2016 qualifiers, making him the country’s top scorer in the tournament. Zenit face Copenhagen in Dubai on Monday, the first of six friendly games, before they face their first competitive game of 2018, in Glasgow, four weeks tomorrow. Their last game was on 11 December.

Some poor Celtic scout will be charged with taking in Zenit’s three games in Dubai next week. It is a thankless job.

SSE Live Awards 2017

I know you enjoyed that week in May as much as I did, when we won the treble then celebrated the Lion’s 50th anniversary.  The SSE currently has an online poll looking for their top event of 2017.  You can go here and vote for ‘Celebrate 67 Live’.

Get it done.

NEW CQN PODCAST OUT NOW FEATURING TOMMY SHERIDAN

A Celtic State of Mind presents its 30th instalment of insightful discussion around the culture of Celtic Football Club, the city of Glasgow, and fans of the reigning treble-winning Scottish champions.

Kevin Graham is joined by Scotty Alcroft to interview Scottish pro-independence politician, Tommy Sheridan, at The Penalty Spot in Glasgow.

The interview took place as part of A Celtic State of Mind’s first live event – Five-a-sides at The Penalty Spot – and, as such, there is some background noise (including mobile interference – apologies) from the audience.

The other voice you may hear throughout this episode is that of former Celtic striker, Frank McGarvey, who is a friend of Tommy’s, and who was also interviewed separately that day for a future show.

You are sure to enjoy Tommy’s eclectic input, as he discusses everything from Catalan independence to Coolio, with a constant undercurrent of that thing called Celtic.

The Sevco PR ‘machine’ (also known as the Scottish media) seems to have adopted an interesting new tactic.

It involves digging up an ex Rangers player such as Amaruso or McCall to warn any club Celtic ‘might’ be buying from to double the asking price and any club who ‘might’ be buying from Celtic to half the price quoted in the press.

In addition, any player Sevco might be interested in ,should be sold to them for half the price quoted and any Sevco player they are anxious to offload is suddenly worth twice their actual value!

You couldn’t make it up……but the media could!

  10. Cant be arsed with transfer window times as its most always a let down. I get that we either sign young upstarts or older experienced players, i get it.

But spare me the nonsense about not bring able to afford to sign quality players, there are 1000 of young men who are good enough and would jump at the chance to sign up for the celtic. what the scouts doing cause we are not exactly looking far and wide are we i.e chelsea/ man city unders etc.. Think we should ask them to earn their living and go unearth some quality prospects.

Another thing, this is not the fergus Mccann years, why we throwing in the overall cost of a player i.e £5 million fee + £2 million wages over 4 Year = £13 million, ffs we pay the fee and wages over the course of the contract so is or should be caluclating into 4 Year cycle surely.

BR is said to want to work with a smaller squad but it remain far big with players who are nowhere near good enough.

Sorry but i struggling to understand what the fuck has ddv’s, gamboa, hayes, eboua, and the new frensh striker offers yet BR purchased them all and most likely at great expense… Then we have the other boys like henderson, bitton, allen, christie’s and chefchi etc… who offers the subtotal of zero most of the time.

For a club that cant afford good wages we seems fairly happy to throw away millions on wages and feel every Year with no return.

  13. LIAM HENDERSON has joined Italian Serie B side, Bari, on a permanent deal. The 21-year-old midfielder is a graduate of the Celtic Youth Academy and made his first-team debut for the Hoops against Motherwell at Fir Park on December 6, 2013, coming on late in the game to replace Scott Brown.

Steven Naismith had offered to play for Sevco for nothing. Sevco were about to secure his services with an improved offer of minus £20 a week when Hearts swooped with an even better offer of minus £30 a week.
