Not before time but it’s good to see Uefa get to grips with clubs which fail to pay their dues. Malaga, who are still this season’s Champions League, have been banned from European competition the next time they qualify. In the event they win the competition this season, they would join a short ignominious list and become only the third team in history to be banned from defending their trophy by the European governing body. Think of the shame.
Eight other clubs have also been barred from Europe for a season, including our very old friends, Vojvodina. The message is simple, pay your bills!!!

So you did find the keys to the drinks cabinet.
I doubt you have been here long enough to question when the phrase was coined
Doubting yourself now. Must be all that drink, does nothing for the long time memory.
Away and hide under your mothers coat till you sober up. Talking mince on here every day i come on.
Still bring nothing nonentity
David Begg the Radio Scotland commentator has retired, programme currently on RS waxing lyrical about him. Seems a lot of the family are ministers in the CofS no problem with that but when they said the family allowed one son to support Rangers but would not allow the other to support Celtic but preferably another local team (did I hear that correctly ?) very sad. Remember many a commentary where I could have choked him for obvious biased commentaries towards anyone playing against Celtic or his sheer joy at the now liquidated ragers winning games…… or am i just paranoid. :o)

It’s Christmas Eve’s Eve.
Let’s not start a pissing competition.
There are people in the world right now having to do the football supporting equivalent of Norman Bates keeping his Mother in the cellar and pretending she’s still alive.
Spare a thought for the deluded at this time of year.

14 goals for Torres this season so far
Not the worst by any stretch

Check out the link I put one here about 10 minutes ago to one of his commentaries from a Celtic – huns game.
It leaves no one in any doubt about who he supports.
I was at the Ibrox disaster game and have never returned since.
To be perfectly honest, this was a disaster that could have happened in any ground in Scotland or elsewhere for that matter.
Terracings were unsafe. Steps were crumbling. Crush barriers were sparse and unfit for purpose. Crowd control and management were non existent. Police, stewards and clubs treated the average fan like cattle, forcing them into narrow exits and entrances with complete disregard for life and limb.
It’s a miracle that we didn’t have more deaths in the crush to get in and out of grounds.
David..,
That the best you’ve got, nothing nada zilch in fact your existence on this blog is pointless
It’s no even irksome, just pitty full, sad really.

Don’t Let’s Be Beastly To The Germans :
Don’t let’s be beastly to the Germans,
Now our victory is ultimately won.
Let us treat them very kindly,
As we would a valued friend.
We might them out some bishops,
As a form of lease and lend.
Let’s be sweet to them
And day by day repeat to them
That sterilization simply isn’t done.
Let’s sweetly sympathize again,
And help the scum to rise again,
But don’t let’s be beastly to the Hun.
We must be kind
And with an open mind,
We must endeavour to find a way
To let the Germans know
That now the war is over,
They are not the ones who have to pay.
We must be sweet
And tactful and discreet,
And now they’ve suffered defeat,
We mustn’t let
Them feel upset,
Or ever get the feeling
That we’re cross with them or hate them.
Our future policy must be to reinstate them.
Don’t let’s be beastuly to the Germans,
For they’re civilized,
When all is said and done.
Though they gave us science, culture, art, and music, to excess,
They also gave us two world wars and Dr. Rudolph Hess.
Let’s be meek to them
And turn the other cheek to them,
And try to arouse their latent sense of fun.
Let’s give them full air parity,
And treat the rats with charity,
But don’t let’s be beastly to the Hun!
Don’t let’s be beastly to the Germans.
You can’t deprive a gangster of his gun!
Though they’ve been a little naughty
To the Czechs and Poles and Dutch,
I can’t believe those countries
Really minded very much.
Let’s be free with them
And share the BBC with them.
We mustn’t prevent them basking in the sun!
Let’s soften their defeat again,
And build their bloody fleet again,
But don’t let’s be beastly to the Hun!

Begg – remains the most obviously biased commentator I have heard. And that’s a hard podium to fill. I remember an away game on the radio where we equalised I think, one of our defenders, and his complete, unashamed disappointment actually made it hard to dsicern if we had scored.
People will probably remember the recent game against Oldco for contrasting responses.
It’s that insidious, yet accepted, bent which runs through sports journalism. It throws up scum like Traynor – pontificating about truth and fairness, whilst hitching up his skirt to a Johnny Come Lately Yorkshireman – a guy who played football for his school – wow. His school. Wow.

Yes, just watched it, no doubts. Did you hear the bit about the family being brought up and the decisions made on what teams they could support and the one team that they couldn’t pretty damning if true.

‘Out of respect for the dead …….. The institutional cover-up will eventually take care of itself’
Cover ups never take care of themselves. The truth only comes out because people make a fuss.
That’s the real way to respect the dead.

To be perfectly honest, this was a disaster that could have happened in any ground in Scotland or elsewhere for that matter.
I was at that game too and couldn’t agree more. Health and safety was an unknown concept in those days. As a youngster I was in one or two crushes coming out of the Celtic end at CP when I didn’t think I would get out alive
Begg couldn’t say the words Aiden McGeady without sneering ‘the Glasgow born Irishman’.
A despicable individual.

Jeepers logged on here in a mellow Christmasy mood, planning to offer hand of friendship (which I still do) to the likes of Natasoola and notthebus and any other lad I had an on-line barney with and found a full scale row going on between posters I have a lot of time for. I think I’ll lurk for a while until the mood improves.

“Desmond is sure that the Ibrox club will eventually return to Scotland’s
top flight and believes they are needed there for the size of their support alone.”
Methinks our Irish donut doesnt understand Scottish football unless “return” means after Celtic have “gone”. I mean what true Celtic supporter wants that crap back again? Then again someone explained to me recently what “Green huns” meant.
The other interpretation may have to do with timing, Champions league, Celtic, salt in wounds.
Maybe
Green Hun = invariably an Irish Celtic supporter with no roots outside of Ireland who think Celtic are Irish and only want to see them blooter the huns. Even if in a 22 tainted trophy cheating cauldron of despicability.
Possibly a character flaw in not being able to see their patriotic fascism is actually a belief system characterized by their religion.
…ok grenade lobbed

No, I can’t listen to 5 minutes of Shortbread in the one go at the best of times, just caught the beginning of it whilst in the car.
And a pedant who can’t make monkey out of monk, really is that it ? pathetic, yes pitiful indeed such a shame someone who obviously has such a great talent for spelling bees can’t find an appreciative audience and is forced to troll Celtic blogs looking for any attention it can find.

‘his was a disaster that could have happened in any ground in Scotland or elsewhere for that matter.’
It was the fourth such disaster on that staircase at Ibrox.
How many similar disasters occurred at other grounds?
Somebody described Begg earlier as a good commentator. He was as hunnish and anti-Celtic as I have ever heard. For me, a good commentator must have a degree of objectivity and impartiality. He totally fails on both counts so good riddance to the fud.
How in the name of the wee man did Gary Neville get that gig?
Aural diarrhoea…

They undoubtedly were criminally negligent, but nevertheless the general culture of the time was that the fans safety and comfort figured little at most Scottish grounds.

Just when I dropped Torres from my fantasy team….
Re Begg etc.. Even at my stage in life ,pushing the half century ,I ve learned SO much this year about how we as the Celtic family are regarded by many in establishment in Scotland.. And it s not been nice..
I seldom listen to football on any Scottish radio or tv station and likewise the printed media I seldom read the sport, save for checking how biased the coverage is,especially in and around Glasgow.
I for one do not subscribe to the view that we move on from oldco corruption..this is EXACTLY what the MSM,Green, SFA et al want..
Criminals are often charged years after events.. Brought to justice.. Persistence often wins the day.
On behalf of all who’ve gone before me I will continue to highlight that a defunct club founded on religious discrimination, allowed to operate said policy and STILL in its reincarnation subtly operates in this manner is exposed for the despicable sham of an organisation it is. Don’t expect me to be quiet ..
Allowing such a lack of accountability will lead to a society that will not make us welcome. A child could see it. ,
Celtic won and are top. Oldco exist no more.. This balance of power is not in the manual of Scottish society.. BUT the balance tipped because of a lack of morality and decency..
You reap what you sow. Eventually..
Celtic since 1888..
Have a Merry little last 16 tip top of the league Christmas..
AND ONCE AGAIN,congratulations to all on the CQN annual… It reads and SMELLS Grrrrreat..

Glendalystonsils likes a mr whippy with his lime green jelly those crushes were terrifying.
More so when you realised that your dad, your uncles and their friends were as helpless as you were in those situations.
I was in one at a cup game at Boghead Park where some Celtic fans were seriously injured.
The site of shoes parted from their owners and lying here and there on the ground after order had been restored told its own eerie tale.

Burnden Park Disaster
The Burnden Park Disaster was a human crush that occurred on 9 March 1946 at Burnden Park football stadium, the home of Bolton Wanderers. The crush resulted in the deaths of 33 people and injuries to hundreds of Bolton fans. It was the deadliest stadium-related disaster in British history until the Ibrox Park disaster in 1971.

All that we are missing now is an appearance from her side-kick Tokyo Joe,crying into his bowl of noodles, telling us all how this was once a great wee blog, and that he very rarely posts these days…And how they yearn for WGS to return to the club.
