van Dijk signs four year deal

1571

Absolutely delighted at the arrival of Dutch under-21 international central defender, Virgil van Dijk, on a four year deal.  A central defender was one of three priorities for this summer and we have secured our first choice target.

The signing will also give a boost to the squad, and a timely reminder to all that amidst talk of player potentially leaving ‘at the right price’, the Celtic Story is one of progress.

Celtic had the tallest team in the Champions League last season.  They were also top scorers from headed goals in the competition until Bayern Munich caught them in the semi-finals.  With the addition of two 6’4” players (van Dijk and Balde) we look to be consolidating our strengths.

Welcome to Celtic, Virgil.

Apparently theres a debate in brasil about who should start at striker. … fred or jo

Wtf happened to Pele.. ronaldo ..jairzino .. etc… ffs… fred or jo

  3. Posted a 3-2 Italy v Brazil clip before the game kicked-off (pity I didn’t bet it each way).

Was the ref about to blow for a pen before ball went in net?

  4. Been flicking between the fitba, the golf and, er, the Voice.

Apart from the obvious observation that the wrong Irish lassie won the talent show I was wondering why I’ve gone off Brazil so much over the years ( just scored a good goal there mind ) . Pompous dissertation mentioning Carlos Alberto, Tostao, Junior, Socrates, Careca, Manuela Arcuri shelved. Suddenly it’s a cracking game. Rubbish ref.

People often ask me, they say DJBEE how do you answer a hun when they say “but we urr the same club”. And although a few have said that to me I have never had to answer the question. All you have to do is look at them and they do either one of two things.

The more intelligent look away and change the subject or make an insignificant joke and change the subject, or..

They look at their feet and go into a completely mad rant that include absolutely no facts whatsoever about PL running Scottish football and how they have been treated badly and I always thought there was something like five stages of grief. Anyone know when the next stage is, and I am not sure but is it acceptance?

  6. Spain are so far ahead of the rest, only complacency and the usual dodgy refs will rob them of another world cup.

Is Mark Lawrenson one of the worst pundits ever.

  9. BMCUW,

Am about to book accomodation down Ascot way for Mon to Thurs morning, so let me know if you’re free and we can take in an afternoon at Ascot if you’re not working, and use our weegie accents to scare the trainers into making sure our outsider wins.

  10. Italy are a strange football nation, we were talking about it at work, they’ve won the world cup what 4-5 times, are universally recognised as a great footballing nation yet they have very few great footballers. In my opinion of course.

It’s a cliché of course but they are all about the team.

  11. Good 2nd half – but not greatly impressed by Brazil’s defending.

Italy started with 5 changes and suffered 2 enforced changes first half – Brazil started with arguably their best 10.

Buffon guilty at 2 of Brazil’s goals – time up methinks!

  12. Good game – partly ruined by dreadful coverage and commentating, rounded off by

    Pat (odious scroat ) Nevin.

Hope someone buys Lawrenson some Caipirinha, heard happier huns after they’ve lost to

    Stirling Albion.
