van Dijk signs four year deal

1571

Absolutely delighted at the arrival of Dutch under-21 international central defender, Virgil van Dijk, on a four year deal.  A central defender was one of three priorities for this summer and we have secured our first choice target.

The signing will also give a boost to the squad, and a timely reminder to all that amidst talk of player potentially leaving ‘at the right price’, the Celtic Story is one of progress.

Celtic had the tallest team in the Champions League last season.  They were also top scorers from headed goals in the competition until Bayern Munich caught them in the semi-finals.  With the addition of two 6’4” players (van Dijk and Balde) we look to be consolidating our strengths.

Welcome to Celtic, Virgil.

  1. Well, now I don’t have to even look at them,

Thanks for the link Mr BMCUW, It;s about time, starting to feel sorry for them they need to move on……

  2. Is Neymar any better than Robinho at the same age?

Robinho was amazing back then, maybe £50mill wasted by Barca

Did anyone hear green going on about Italy should be unhappy that the ref clearly blew before the goal .. then qualifies it by saying buffon would be raging and claiming they stopped

  4. Good evening all

Just watched the Brazil Italy game. Does Nevin talk a lot of shoite or what. “The goal needed a game” ffs, this is the best the beeb come up with? Shocking.

  6. @LawTop20 @MaccormickPeggy @celticrumours @colinpaterson is the SFA a public or private body? If public, then yes, if private then no.

Mark Lawrenson commentates on football with the same dismal, negative, EPL fixated perspective as the rest of the know-nothings who are employed by the media in Britain. The man is an arsehole, he has no insight and nothing to add to the experience of either watching or listening to a game of football.

Why don’t they employ people who know and love the game? Spiers likes golf & rugby, Keevins loves boxing, others like music, food, theatre.

Football is still seen as a working class game in Britain, it’s a ticket for SKY et al, but there’s hardly a decent MSM writer out there, thank God for the internet bampots!!

Surprised that the beeb didnt make a big deal of the man utd striker playing for the pen .. or making a massive deal of missing pen and rebound.

Note to the beeb… fergie retired

  9. Pundits getting paid and incapable of calling it live on-air!

3 calls tonight on the Blog before the pundits (with benefit of replay) got it right.

    1) The Dante off-side goal – Brazil’s first (TBJ).

    2) Neymar goal – bought the free-kick (me).

    3) Ref blows and points for pen – before ball hits net (several of us).

Makes me mad when you think of the fees the likes of; Lawerson, Hanson, Nevin etc., etc are getting paid (and don’t start me on that ex-ESPN mob).

  10. I still reckon, take Neymar away, Brasil are on a par with england, not a hope of winning the WC, unless they get help from the cheats with the whistles.

  11. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/ on

Surely hately will nip up to Jordonhill and pay the £3600 they stole from the Childrens charity?

Tbh .. every game I watch I notice the deflections… the offsides.. the obstruction etc etc.

I assume everyone else sees it too…. but those winkers who get paid to see it… mib and mejia… cant see it

I’ve still got the Regi Blinker wig I bought outside Celtic Park in 1998. It’s getting a reprieve now I actually have no hair.

  16. Provan is the worst, he’ll say off side the replay will show on side, Provan repeats off side. Takes a certain sort of moron to do that live on tv to millions.

  17. NatKnow, Regi & Bobby Petta played for Celic Legends in Dundalk today. One of our “Van” men, Pierre & Brian O Neill scored in 2 nil win.

  18. The Stone Roses on Saturday was as mad

  20. Reading the blog tonight I think we are agreed the standard of both broadcast and print media commentary and analysis is dreadful. Whether it be supposedly professional commentators such as Pearce, Parry or that git who does the CL on ITV or the pundits – especially those on what was called Terrestrial telly and on ESPN – is as my nephew texted me to say an embarrassment. The print media is garbage and in Scotland it has played an active part in the distortion and decline of our game. Football actually is a wonderful sport – the great players as mentioned on an earlier article have enriched my life in a way comparable with my favourite musicians, writers and actors have. On this and other football sites and in the fanzines of the 80s and 90s there are people who write/ wrote better than every single professional writer. On this site Paul 67, Auldheid and Brogan, Rogan, Trevino and Hogan are so far ahead of their professional equivalents that comparisons are pointless .As is this rant.

Why do we put up with these cretins, mediocre underachievers on the field, people who have no insight to the game they no longer even seem to like far less understand who can hardly string a sentence together?
