We want a win, but let’s not kid ourselves

964

We are almost week on from Morton (our only mustn’t lose game in March) but there will be a business-like atmosphere around Lennoxtown today as the team prepare to go to Ibrox, scene of three consecutive wins since Newco were promoted to top flight football.  Brendan and his players are all too aware of the big talk coming from Murray Park.  If ever they needed motivation, they didn’t need to look far.

Fans of either colour, who have been around long enough, will recognise the occasion, but this is not the way you and I used to feel about going to Ibrox.  Back in the old days I preferred to go there as slight underdogs, which was often as good as it got for Celtic fans.  Now, we travel to every ground in the country as strong favourites, no matter what our form.  This is nothing like it was in the pre-liquidation years.

I want to win, of course, but I would have been devastated if we’d lost to Morton.  Sunday’s game cannot reach me the same way.  This is a step on the road to what will hopefully be a treble, don’t pretend it is about winning the league, it’s just not.

  1. Melbourne Mick on

Hello again all you young rebels.

Been very busy with our young bhoys, our season starts in a couple

of weeks and we are giving it to them hard at training.

One of our 14 year old was playing for the senior team last night 6 ft 3

scored one and two assists, not bad when playing against seasoned

    ex pros. etc.

Watched as a fella took photos of our Celtic academy posters, and as i

tend to do, had a chat with him.

Turns out he is an Englander, Burnley supporter, and as his two bhoys

who were playing were Celtic minded, very much influenced by a

certain Michael Connelly who played for Clydebank back in the day and

if my Guinness addled brain remembers correctly, him and his father

    turned out for Burnley.

After showing me videos and pics of his bhoys in the hoops at Celtic park

on his phone and chatting all things Celtic, turns out Michael knows our very

    own PADDYMACOZ, small world etc.

Anyway don’t want to go on rambling like i usually do, so to cut things short

Michael i know you and your mate said you would be down at our

St Patricks day celebration with the bhoys and i kept saying it was on the

    Sun.17th but it’s the Sat.

You told me you lurk on CQN, now would be a good time for your first post

The seed was his and Morrissey, Auldheid & BRTH were the sun, wind and rain.

Perhaps Steinreignedsupreme spoke to it to encourage the roots to take hold.

But the aforementioned were the ‘concert party’ fully aware of the ‘concomitant risks. :-)

As another Irish Bhoy, I’ve enjoyed your contribution this week. I don’t agree with all you have to say but you have stimulated a great debate over the last few days in a very reasoned, calm and respectful manner.

The bhlog needs contributors like you.
