I spoke to one of the volunteers after the Celtic FC Foundation bucket collection two weeks ago, the first time she had been at Celtic Park, who said, “There’s a positive vibe about this place. Lots of good people.”
That was despite all 50-something-thousand of us being wet to the core and shivering. It’s good for someone to point out what we have grown overly familiar with. At least four generations turn up at Celtic Park and the oldest of those attended as kids, when the very first Celtic fans were still around.
The football team is enjoying a generation of domination that is likely to become the longest in our history, but that is nothing more than an historical oddity. The spirit of the Celtic Movement is far more significant and has seldom been in better fettle.
The Celtic FC Foundation Christmas Appeal raised a record £240k this year. As a result, 466 families in Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Ireland received a significant Christmas gift. 50 vulnerable pensioners in Glasgow received a voucher to help them through the period.
The Simon Community were able to provide 120 homeless with a dinner at Celtic Park. £10,000 was given to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital to assist those in over the festive period.
The Scottish Refuge Council and Refuweegee were supported in their work with welcome packs for every refugee who arrives in the city. Gift and outings were provided for families supported by Glasgow East Women’s Aid.
A dinner was provided for the 120 aided by Glasgow City Mission, who assist homeless and socially isolated members of our community. Support was also give to Loaves & Fishes, The Invisibles and The Wayside Club, both of who also assist the homeless.
Glasgow Night Shelter, who aid homeless men who cannot access conventional homeless services due to their immigration status benefited, as did the Elpis Centre, who provide similar assistance to young women.
The list goes on and includes similar organisations in Edinburgh, Fife, London, across Ireland and in Canada.
God help anyone who needed assistance from Celtic FC Foundation this Christmas. Their struggles with be significant and there will be few joys in their lives, but whether it’s a welcome pack, a meal, clothing, shelter or a toy, you reached out to them. And that’s more important than any treble.
Well done. It is great to be part of such a community.
Have a great Christmas.

Paul 67,
Merry Christmas.
Your article ” You did this in 2018″
So proud to be a wee tiny tiny tiny bit of this. An achievement off the park to mirror and equal achievement on the park.
Bravo and HH.
Delighted at the signing of young Dembele to a professional contract till 2021.
An early Christmas present.
The cynic in me doubted he would ever be in the position to wear a first team jersey.
Morning all. (Well, it’s morning here).
Great news re Karamoke.
Thanks for all the good wishes and advice.
Heading off to the Native American museum soon.
Enjoy your Christmas Eve.

Never heard of Roome but the other 3 are all blatant hun cheats.
With a roaring bitter crowd they will have free reign for their dishonesty and cheating.
FAN-A-TIC,
And with SKY doing the broadcast, there won’t be any questioning from the likes of Walker…..

90pts in betting I think is 10pts a yellow and 20pts a red card… I could be incorrect but that’s my understanding
—————————————
Close enough GFTB.
25 points for a straight red, 35 points for 2 yellow cards resulting in a sending off.
Nollaig Shona duit Paul67 and everyone on Celtic quick news.
Thanks for tolerating my inane ramblings.
Thoughts and prayers for Murdoch Auld and Hay also those whom are struggling with health issues and poverty at this time.

Is that supposed to be a joke or what?
Paul67,
Happy Christmas to you and all at CQN, and for your time to continue with CQN.
I believe that it is a great signing of ypung Dembele. I recall speaking to a Celtic coach at St. Kevins 3 years ago and he held out little chance of Celtic holding on to him. I believe a list of English and top European sides were waiting for Feb 2019 to sign him. Celtic would have worked hard to look after him. Well done to manager anf all at Celtic including the Board.
KTF CATHACH
And still Collumn does not get a Hun rat game…
Incredible, what a letter/ statement can do.
D. :)
Step 1. Go around saying how “not for sale” he is (which he obviously is or you would just say nothing).
Step 2. Say that every player has a price and if somebody puts in a crazy offer you would have to consider it ( probably around £4m, but don’t tell the fans that!).
Step 3. When nobody comes in, invent a fake bid (£15m+) which you reject out of hand.
Franny- was cleaning the car oot…??

no joke , that’s the officials , their agenda carries on.
So now we know the officials for the 29th all we need now is the obligatory anti Celtic article the day before the game and it will be like the Mowbray season again.
Has jabba banned mentioning our game in hand. These hacks private lives must be wretched for level5 to have the goods on them.

Happy Christmas to Paul 67 and all CQNrs and many thanks for giving a platform to us amateur scribblers to air our views on all things football and Celtic.
Despite the panic on here of some after the Easter Road result Celtic bounced back resoundly as expected.

I salute all the efforts of those on here, and others, to help those in need, all year round, but especially at this time of year when voluntary help can if anything be even more important. Met a recipient of such efforts recently, Bob, formerly homeless, and now a beneficiary of the St Mungo’s Charity in London, own room in a well run hostel, access to health services etc. You would never have guessed from his Yorkshire accent but he is originally from the same part of Scotland as myself, if not the same town, Ayr in fact. Once worked at the old Station Hotel there and was disappointed to hear of its’ present state. Through a variety of circumstance found himself literally living on the street, and was a well known street walker in that part of North London. Earlier this year, during the “Beast of the East” he found himself, and thankfully was found, in the snow and ice of a Church courtyard, hospitalised temporarily, treated for pneumonia, and referred to St. Mungo’s. Has been there ever since, has had some medical treatment, but can still be seen walking the ol mean streets of Camden Town. Knows a lot about a lot of things, gardening, landscaping, fishing etc and, with the help of a Scottish Charity has been offered work, voluntary it has to be said, with a Scottish Trust, croft type accommodation included, doing basic environmental work on the coast of the West Highlands, something he is very keen to begin in the first part of the New Year. Something to be said for the kindness of strangers.
Aaaaaaa Wee Joanie…..
Reading on the comments section of a JJ article concerning child abuse that during the “S” signings period we would farm our young players out to Giffnock North and NOT CBC.
I actually played against them many many moons ago up there, in fact it was during the winter of ‘63 when it did feel that the earth would freeze, I was only 15 in an under 18 side and no that good but they were truly a man short and I was a ringer.
Anyway I can recall that several years ago before we had our own academy we fielded a GN side in the Glasgow Cup in our name and colours and actually won it beating deidco.
I also believe that Kenny played for them around the time we signed him.
Never one to go in for rumours, sweetie wifing or tittle tattle.
However i did hear a rumour which orientated in a Scottish Championship dressing room that Celtic had enquired about the availability of Wayne Rooney for 4 months loan deal.
Dont shoot the messenger ?
was the rumour passed on by boydy.
nudge nudge wink wink. say no more
