We dropped points on Saturday because of this game and may drop more on Sunday because of it, so was it worth it?
Zenit will certainly not win this competition as we witnessed 2 very poor teams tonight. The difference? One team knew how to defend.
This may be celtic heresy but do we not have to stop telling the players that they only won euro ties because it was in CP and that it is a special place- the follow on from that is if you take the CP out of the player then they cannot win.

Hello this is WEE BGFC. Buggar. Keeper was crap, Lustig had a nightmare. Let’s deal with something but. I do not agree with all this “disappointing european campaign” bull. We need to remember where we are. I mean, we’ve just got into the Champions League group stage 4 times in 6 years, that’s a good strike rate! People just expect too much too soon. The performance last Thursday was exactly what Brendan’s been looking for since he started – to go tow-to-tow with a top class European team. You can say that our results were good under Lenny in Europe but – let’s be honest – we parked the bus and hoped for a break-away or a corner. Brendan wants us to finally compete with these teams while playing our own game, to go into a game against Barcelona or Real Madrid and be counted as equals. Our day will come comrades! Keep The Faith!

My main concern is the lack of learning.
We concede the same goals every time – off-the-ball movement and set pieces or crosses. De Vries very poor for second, but the guy who scored had acres of space.
Our attacking play is far too one-paced and predictable. Ball being played back without even looking to see if anything is on ahead. Movement is all short towards the ball. Griffiths gives you a bit more in behind, but when he’s out there’s nothing.
We are making the title a far more difficult task than it should be.
I think we could be a quarter final Europa team if we played to our potential.

I don’t normally do the blame game but it’s impossible to win in Europe without a decent keeper.
De Vries is a poor keeper plain & simple, I hope Brendan goes with Bain against the Sheep and it’s up to him to keep the jersey.
We were never going to win the Europa and with the horrendous injury problems we have had this year we are better off out of it at this stage.
Looking forward to the Sheep game, I’ll let the ranting & rage to those who are good at it.
67% possession, 67 mins before we had a shot on goal. Yet another team that have a clean sheet against us. That’s a good few since Anderlecht at home. We are haemorrhaging the momentum we build last year. As others have said, maybe we’re overdoing the number of projects and need some more maturity in the team. Brendan himself linking the passivity in the team to the number of young, inexperienced players. Must do better.

Celtic has been in Europe 8 times after europe in 38 years and yet for some reason this is a failure ? No other Scottish team came close to even reaching the tournament proper.

FWIW, here is my rather simplistic appraisal of the game tonight.
Zenit have better players than we have. Better player make fewer mistakes.Better players can make the opposition make mistakes. A team with better players than the opposition usually wins.Celtic win most games in Scotland for those reasons. Tonight, Zenit won for those reasons.

Gordon, Boyata, Armstrong, Roberts and Griffiths would all probably have played some part tonight if fit. Had they been fit we would have stood a far better chance of progressing. It’s a struggle in Europe, even qualifying, when we have a full squad so no surprise when we get turned over like tonight.

Very disappointed in that performance. While I thought Zenith were far far better than us on the night, we lost 3 poor goals. I don’t think we made their goalkeeper make a save.
Our manager has his work cut out, unless he can have the likes of Roberts and Griffiths back from injury soon.
