Nae fight, nae guts and apart fae broonie, tierney and ajer nae fecking heart.

Lets buy experienced players, no bloody projects.

    Gutted.

  2. Zenit players again disrespect Celtic 98

BY PAUL67 ON 22ND FEBRUARY 2018 CQN BLOG & COMMENTS

Zenit players have been chatty with the Russian media since returning to St Petersburg this week. To a man, they attributed their defeat at Celtic Park to a fitness deficit. But, do not fear, they will still go through as they are the better team.

Exactly what logic they use to convince themselves that a few days break in Rome will sufficiently improve their fitness to allow their general superior-ness to prevail is unclear. Footballers with a “We are better, so we will go through” attitude are short of an effective plan.

When in Zenit (or wherever they are fae) Celtic players did what others do – posted photos of them passing the baw across the back line. We didn’t even seek an intervention from a higher authority at St Petersburg.

  3. I said apart from the goal we were playing better 2nd half.

Reading not one of your strong points then.

  4. Well, that was utter garbage. A whole team shat themselves. Couldn’t pass the ball to teammate. Couldn’t keep possession of the ball.

We didn’t even look like Celtic until we went 3-0 down.

I would love to know what the game plan looked like. I couldn’t even remotely see it.

Disappointing shambolic performance as many of us feared. Jamesie was by far our best player and Brendan saw fir to remove him. As has been already said, this was a Rony performance. The board will be happy though, cash in the bak gathering lovely interest whilst our supporters are rapidly losing theirs.

It didn’t include losing a goal in two minutes or so!

On a happier note I have the perfect name for your pup. You guessed LUBO, or maybe LARSSON

Enjoy tomorrow. I had a breed of dog once called a Sooner. Sooner piss on the carpet than go in the garden.

  8. Have to say….. Bain for Sunday.

    Faithful through and through.

    Disappointed but still a Tim.

    Onwards to Sunday

  9. Three poor goals conceded. Other than that it was by no means a mailing. Self inflicted defeat.

Olivier was our best player in my opinion. Forest a close second.

Lustig is done and unless we change the way we defend we will need another very very good centre back too – the ones we have could be good in a different system. But they are not good enough to play without the compact midfield protection poorer defenders in Hoops enjoyed under Lennie and WGS.

Mistakes killed us. It’s as simple as that.

Passing wasn’t a problem tonight, for once we were actual reasonably good at it (for us). The problem was an empty jersey between the sticks and a right back who is finished.

  11. So another Euro campaign over.

    Progress?

    Not in my eyes.

2 victories and a few pastings don’t seem like progress to me.

How can we be so different in a week?

    God Bless The Celtic

  12. Sorry, went early there.Bit like our dreams tonight.

De Vries, Lustig, Kouassi and McGregor were all passengers tonight. Simunovic made one howler but recovered quite well. The 3 mainstays, Brown, Forrest and Tierney competed well, Ntcham and Dembele looked intimidated. Rogic appeared for 5 minutes then went awol.

We just don’t travel well and are not at this level. Cannot hide from the facts. We have become a “ bucket list” destination for football bloggers to tweet about the fantastic atmosphere on European nights. A sort of playing arm of the Tartan Army, everybody loves us because we let them hammer us on the park and patronise us afterwards.

Will never stop supporting my club and will see you all at the next two home games. Perhaps a few of you may be there. Hail! Hail!

Well, that was painful to watch. Celtic, yet again fail to turn up for a European away match. Like Chris Sutton, I am baffled by the difference from last week and I do not put that down to Zenit. They were there for the beating.

There’s a pattern emerging which Brendan will have to break, partly to do with personnel and partly to do with Belief.

Weak links need to be replaced within the budget.

  14. Dexter P. Bampot on

Spineless performance by all except Tierney and Brown. Poor management- Lustig is done. Kouassi offers nothing.

I think Simo doesn’t have it. Ditto Ntcham.

De Vries- don’t need to state the bleeding obvious.

SS and MD have failed to perform this season. We don’t really know why.

What we are witnessing is what we ALWAYS have witnessed. A lack of investment in the playing squad when in a position of strength.

PL and PLC obsessed now with the buy low sell high tactic. When was the last established class player signed?

Still, we have tens of millions in the bank. PL got his bonus too.

  15. JMCCORMICK on 22ND FEBRUARY 2018 8:00 PM

Would agree with you re. playerr performances except Ntcham. I thought he had a good game. Also thought Ajmer played well.

Straight down the middle we the Celtic fans knew we were weak straight down the middle in the summer but Brendan chose not to do anything about and it has certainly cost us away from home in Europe. If we can take anything positive from our away european games it is the fact that any club with european ambition would not touch Brendan with a barge pole his european record is shocking so he is unlikely to leave Celtic anytime soon.It is hard to give any of the Celtic players pass marks tonight but there were plenty of highly paid failures. So its on to Aberdeen on Sunday in a game which we must win or there really could be a title fight. H.H.

I see a dead ball specialist not just as a goal scorer from free kicks but someone who knows how to cross the ball with power and accuracy from corners and free kicks.

None of the floaty high balloons we are used to.

  18. Best player on the Park was their 34 year old right back. Our 31 year old right back looked geriatric compared to him.

  19. It’s the hope that kills you. Thought we could grind it out tonight. Zenit looked distinctly average, but our defence looked less than average tonight. We were still playing it around, and back to, the back three when 3-0 down

I do believe it is a mental thing with us in Europe.

We only started to play when the tie was over (relief perhaps?) and/or Zenit sat back and let us play.

Here’s hoping Brendan is truly in it for the long haul and see what kind of a team he can build over a 5 year period. He’s up against it money-wise, that’s for sure.

  20. I’m going to keep my own thoughts to myself on most of that team tonight,BR now needs to manage and get a competitive team on the park to win this league, time to roll the sleeves up and get the bottle merchants out the team.Lets see if he will do this going to Aberdeen then Ibrox we will need to.

  21. Performances of Shekel & Hide.

    Perplexing.

More to it than the tactics of Mancini and BR.

  22. What annoys me is we shipped 2 points, maybe 5 if we consider Killie, protecting players in preparation for this.

    Missing players ( 6 ) were significant,particularly GK.

For me, if there is an upside, total focus on League.

There is no chance Zenit will progress let alone win it.

  23. We’ve hit a new low tonight and we should be very worried. The reality is our entire squad and management team are completely out of sorts. That was a shambles. We are passive, gutless and lacking any ideas, drive or identity. Steve Clark could have taken his Kilmarnock squad over there and done a better job. Ronny Deila never had a Celtic team as bad as what we’ve seen over the past few months.

I don’t know where we go from here but we’re in a bad place. I’ve been worried for a while but I’m genuinely asking myself if Brendan will be here next season. It’s not an overreaction, look at the evidence over the last few months. The first thing you ask yourself when your struggling is if the players are playing for the Manager. Quite a few don’t look interested or bothered.

    Worrying times.

  24. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

    Let’s be honest.

    We are beyond poor.

It’s not the players, not the manager but the standard of football. It’s great laughing at the Sevvies getting knocked out by a team from Luxembourg. Aberdeen by minnows, St Johnstone by a Lithuanian outfit Hearts by Maltese. We are the poor man of Europe.

The fact is Zenit fashioned a 3 nil lead, dominated and restricted the Celtic to zero chances. It’s just another example of how far Scottish football has descended.

  25. embramike says ” Yer team’s deid…Beat it!” on

Seen it all before in Europe away – it’s as if we don’t believe we can win. And if anybody didn’t know before the game that we desperately need a quality CH, RB and Goalkeeper then you should do now.

Plus point was seeing Tom Rogic getting some game time but we really need to get Leigh and Paddy back to fitness to give us options and pace , which we sadly lack especially in final third.

Anyway, we have a Cup to win and a League to clinch starting with Sheep away on Sunday, then it’s Dundee and Morton at home before visits to the Crumbledome and Murderwell.

5 good results and we can look forward to the run in after the international break with a few more players available for selection.
