New, social, CQN, Elvis is dead!

1157

And we’re back!  What a two days of systems nightmare.  We went down at 7pm on Thursday.  No conclusive information on why, we have had traffic volume related outages before, but this was on a more serious and persistent basis. We had to move the database to a new location and restore from backup to recover, we lost a few days articles. Better not speak to me about Fasthosts for a while.

We got access to the databases this morning and took the opportunity to upgrade facilities in the background.  We’re on a new incarnation of WordPress and now have Facebook and Twitter integration.  Good news is you can link your Celtic Quick News account with your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts, and share information from CQN to your social network timeline.

To do so:
Login to Celtic Quick News.
Cick on your name at the top of the Comments box to access your profile.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to access the Facebook and Twitter links.
Update your profile.

You will then see a Share link beside your comments.

Should we be Celtic Slow News for today?  Here it is:

Rennes 1-1 Celtic.
Hugely important second half performance and Joe Ledley goal.
Your favourite billionaire is getting divorced and has claimed he has no money!  Oh dear.
One year on, the SFA are still smoking out religiously offensive correspondents!
The Berlin Wall fell and I hear Elvis is dead.

Have a try at the Facebook and Twitter links and let me know what you think of it.  I’m off for a break but will catch up later.

Most importantly, there is a Celtic fan called Andrew who will be walking about Belfast in a daze this weekend.  If you see him, but him a beer.

I can’t believe Whyte’s getting divorced. Who the hell would marry him in the first place?

I think whyte will take them into administration; this would only see them deducted 10 points and all debt written off and then all monies whyte puts in will be used to strengthen their squad…best course of action for them. They start afresh in my opinion.

However, the question I am unable to answer is this…if whyte waits until the HMRC first tier decision and they lose can he take them into administration at that point or is it too late?

I think if he wants to go down administration he has to do sooner rather than later, before HMRC decision. If he doesn’t and they lose and do not appeal then they are due to pay £49 million (or what ever it is), so in my opinion it would be liquidation and not administration.

If you or anybody else could clarify through superior knowledge I would be obliged?

  4. Liverpool have hit the bar and the post in the first ten minutes. Looks like just a matter of time before they score.

  6. Another game on in the EPL with ex-Celts in charge. Funny how we have so many represented in the richest league in the world but not so many in Scotland.

They changed the words to Fields of Athenry also.

  8. I don’t see why the TFOD are upset at the BBC, everything they said about Rangers was true, If they did a show about our ex chairman Mr Reid, and what he did in office, would we take offence and stop watching the BBc?

  9. Welcome back,

    CelticFastNews. Cough, splutter.

Whyte is playing a blinder, I’d say.

They care not about his modus operandi now that he’s feeding their BBC paranoia.

Whose move next? Tribunal next month is it?

great to see the site upand running again, though i doubt my wife would agree.

I have been wandering aimlessly in cyber space for the past two days trying to replace CQN.

No disrespect to KDS, Celtic Hub et al but CQN is in a league of its own.

Hail Hail…my first post here. I thoroughly enjoy this forum…for the most part :) Do any of you have a link to the BBC ‘expose’ from the other night? I live in Canada and as a result I am unable to login to BBC Scotland. I want to see what all the fuss is about!

Keep up the great work Paul!

    Welcome are you a Hun?

Not sure but you might find it on BBC Scotland iplayer.

You go into Administration to be protected from your creditors. The only other alternative is you go bust.

Its in CW’s interest to lead the club into administration as his company is the only protected creditor.he will get back his 20m, however in order to do that Rangers would have to liquidate assets to that value.

The question is if CW’s £20m paper investment realise more liquidated assets to a higher value.

    Probably.

CW could make substantial profit in a relatively short period of time, however Rangers would effectively have been asset stripped.

We did play well on Thursday and yes, we could have won the match. However, as for your drop Forster comment I cannot agree. In my opinion he was man of the match.

Yes, he along with Cha were culpible for the goal, who was more that is open to debate but probably Forster. However, therafter he had at at least four great saves.

Too many have put down Forster and other GKs over the years. Too many latch on the mistakes that are made by Forster this season and yes there have been many. However, had it not been for Forster, arguably we could have lost 4/5-1. As Neil came out and said post-match it was a testament to his character and in light of another new defence in fron of him coupled by the howler he and Cha made.

I was like a Bhoy possessed (spl) in the Pub on Thursday night, you would have sworn I was in Rennes…for every time Forster did a good thing after the howler I shouted words of encouragement and praise.

What Forster needs is our support to drop a GK for one howler and four great saves…I say no way. It would have been a different story had he gone to stumble through the game and showed nerves but he didn’t.

We need to start putting consistent team on the pitch and I for one would start almost the team that started Thursday tomorrow…

Forster showed character on Thursday, if I had let in such a goal on the back of the criticism that he has endured of late I would have asked to come off.

All about opinions mate but if you want to drop Forster for that mistake and then the way he performed, you are wrong in my opinion.

Apologies for the rant and long post.

    Keep the Faith!

Saturday night Greetings from a sodden South East Sicily ——-

Roberto Bettega [ a man who knew how to score goals ] selected Joe Ledley’s great goal against Rennes as 1 of his 3 goals of the night in Mediaset’s Europa League highlights program [ every game -every goal ].

As for our group opponents ——- Less than 10 k turned up to watch Udinese 2 — Atletico Madrid 0 . Proverbial game of 2 halves —– first half was all Atletico but 2 great saves from Handanovic kept it at 0-0 . Udinese upped the pace in the second half and ran out comfortable 2 -0 winners..

During the post match interview – Guidolin , the Udinese Manager — said that he reckoned 10 points would be enough for qualification and that he intended to collect the necessary 3 points in Madrid.. If that pans out and we beat Rennes ———

  19. Welcome Back CQN and Gordon J

I see the gigantophobes are still getting the knife into Fraser Forster, this time for the opposite fault that they were complaining about before. Big Fraser took the blame for Thursday’s bizarre goal because he performed well in the second half and was more likely to be forgiven. In my book, Cha gets 80% plus of the blame. I am glad that we have got Fraser Forster and Berim Kayal, 2 players who are currently unpopular but that, I predict, will soon change.

As for Craig Whyte’s bizarre interview with his favourite bottom licker, I suspect he is trying to hurry on the Administration event. If the people he slandered (BBC, journo, law firm, ex-directors) get their money through court awarded settlements, ahead of the Tax Case judgement, can he escape the consequences of the bigger penalty?

I don’t think Craig Whyte has mental health issues. I believe he has a relaxed attitude towards legal niceties and ethics.

P.S. I am not on Facebook or Twitter- what benefit would there be in my going on these new fangled 21st Century inventions?

“Orc alluding to some kind of demonstration outside BBC on November 5th.”

I believe it will be a cookery demonstration. Delia is partnering Craig Whyte on Celebrity Masterchef and the dish they will cook is “Livres a la Govan”

  21. I truly, honestly, completely, totally thought the Scotsman interview with Whyte/White (If that’s even his name!) was a wind up as I think I got it off Bourne on Facebook. I thought the link was a dummy. I checked the address. I honestly deleted my history and went into the front page of the Scotsman then went into the interview.

    I read it again.

I asked my wife to read it with me – on the off chance I’d suffered a mild embolism which had affected my ability to process words.

    I read it again.

And then I laughed and have not really stopped laughing since.

Because he’s a flim flam man.

    The exchange goes like this

    Q. What about X?

    A. Not telling you.

    Q. What about Y?

    A. Not telling you.

    Q. How much Z have you got?

    A. Not telling you? I mean I could tell you that I’m presently doing an A with a very well known B which will be very profitable in a C sort of a manner. But I don’t like to discuss those sort of things.

    Q. Could you name the B in question?

    A. No.

AND SO ON AND ON AND ON…

And it’s struck me what he is. He’ll be rich, sure that’s a given. He’ll have his own money well hidden. But what he’ll do and what he does is – gamble and risk with other people’s money. I’ve met his type before. Christ I got in cahoots with similar and went bust – which maybe means I harbour resentment – but that aside – that interview displays enough of this man’s rampant ego .

He’s the guy who calls himself an entrepeneur, a venture capitalist, a self made gazzillionaire – ‘cos he only ever lost other people.

He’s the guy who has only ever been wronged because his selfish survival instinct will re-write any harm he does as valid, necessary and right.

That club deserves him and he it.

I’m no financial expert mate, theres just far too many ins and outs to this and I predict it will end up very messy, regarding Bain and macintyre. The tax case will dictate th future of rangers, what the exact consequences of liquidation or administration are,..i’m not 100%….

I hope liquidation is the ultimate price they pay for 20 years of irresponsible financial managment..But admin is very very severe….there is much more to it than just a 10 point penalty.

Thanks mate, so if I understand you correctly, if their assets are more than £20 million he gets a lot of dosh if they enter administration.

Forgive me as I can’t quite get my head around the difference, if there is one, between administration and liquidation. At what point would they go into liquidation?

My understanding is that they would continue historically if it were only administration. We would need liquidation to affect their history continuing. I found it interesting that whyte said on STV there will always be a rankers; this in my opinion suggests that he has his plan and that is administration.

Sorry to come back but just trying to get my head around the difference.
