Billy Dodds nails Rangers on tax

712

Billy Dodds, who was named by the BBC as a beneficiary of Rangers Employee Benefit Trust, wrote in today’s Sunday Herald on the subject.  He alleges Rangers paid him money, which should have been taxed as income, through an EBT.

Dodds wrote, “David Murray came to me and asked if I would receive a payment that was due to me, after tax, through the EBT trust.   And I said that I would.   It was money that was owing to me when I had six months left on my contract and I moved to Dundee United. After the tax was deducted, that money was put in the trust fund.”

What happened to the “tax… deducted” is the crucial question.  Dodds is clear.  This was money due to him through his contract of employment which should have been taxed.  The seriousness of the allegations against Rangers just cranked up a notch – and from a surprising source.

  1. I see Wee Chico gettig a bit of a kicking here, about 6 weeks ago when Bain withdrew his action against RIA , did the bold Chico not announce on RS that he was aware of the Bain EBT but that it amounted to a pittance. I am sure he said it was just enough to cover a good night out; now I know Chico sees himself as a bon vivuer but surely he was taking the piss?

I though Chic was alluding to RC Ogilvie’s EBT when he compared it to the cost of a good night-out. Turns out the value of his EBT as revealed recently was 95grand.

Glad you picked up on that one Paul because thats exactly what my take was.

If Rangers paid numerous employees bonuses and deducted the necessary taxes first – but didnt pay the tax then that is fraud.

When the hell is the police investigation going to start!?

Yes ogilvie came out and admitted his Ebt less than 24hrs after assuring gullible chick he was no way involved,

Spare a thought for sad old sir sean connery, proud Scotsman, championing the coutries cause,(albeit.while living in Marbella),one time Celtic fan, then, after a spat with the hopelessly incompetent old board,he defects to the quintessentially british club, oops, wonder how that decision feels now for sir sean?.

  13. SparkleGhirl @ 17:44,

While Ernie is correct, the clue to who administer these Employee Benefits is in the name Trust(ees).

If the way this vehicle was driven was shown to be incompetent then if I was a penny in the pound Creditor I would be vigorously pursuing the Trust’s Funds.

If there is any criminality proven all bets are off, as a beneficiary I would be checking my culpability with a Very Good Lawyer.

Persistent rumours that pop up, about Celtic in talks with Dutch Eredivisie clubs.

What’s that all about?- Eastenders CSC

It’s not a persistent rumour, it’s one clown who continually posts nonsense, which then gets regurgitated round and round and round.

  18. bourne I am sure it is just a rumour that is doing the rounds on twitter.

I was told (Guaranteed) on Friday night that Celtic will be playing in England in the next three years by a Celtic source. I asked about Sky money and was told it would be due to new money in football broadcasting.

  20. Auldheid – you are right I do tend more to the glass half empty tendency but I believe there has been enough happened to celtic and people of my persuasion during my 54 years on this planet to warrant scepticism on my part.

I was astonished that the transfer ban was upheld (even though the Huns believed a deal to replace the ban with a Scottish cup suspension had been struck).

How much evidence do the authorities need to act on the industrial scal cheating that has been perpetrated on the game.

It seems to me that the authorities want them in the SPL next season regardless of their crimes.

I will continue to wait in hope but not in expectation of appropriate punishment for the Huns but I can’t help thinking they will be in the SPL next

season with next to nothing being done to them other than the mandatory European exclusion.
