Biton and the holding position

678

I was discussing Beram Kayal during the week, specifically how he was keeping Victor Wanyama out of the Celtic team before that ‘tackle’ from Rangers’ McCulloch put him out of action for months.  The player has never recovered his form but has never had a sustained run in the team either.

Nir Biton has made the holding position his own in recent weeks and, as a consequence, we’ve watched his form improve.  News that he picked up an injury when playing for Israel against Slovakia last week, which is likely to disrupt his appearances for weeks, has come at the worst possible time.  If he is to make this position his own, he needs performances between now and the end of the season.

Young players especially need games to reinforce their craft and build confidence, as well as to ensure fitness.

Just less than 24 hours until the Friday noon deadline for bids on bottle No. 1 of a limited edition (291 in total) of Craigallachie Telford’s Bridge, in a wooden box and presentation cardboard tube, whit an authentication certificate. The current highest bid stands at an incredible £425.

Many thanks to everyone who donated to Mary’s Meals via the MyDonate link. We are closing in on funding the second school kitchen, at St Joseph’s Primary School in Kasungu, Malawi. Incredible response, treat yourself if you are one of the donors. You can get involved here.

Seville, The Celtic Movement, launches tomorrow (rumours suggest I might get my hands on mine today).

“”Claire, where is my passport?” I was frantic now as I pleaded with my wife. She must know I thought. Claire, my wife of twelve years, suffers my trips away to support Celtic without a single moan. Not this time though as Claire would not give me her blessing to go on this trip telling me that our bakery was now at critical point, busy and with too many European away days this year they had taken their toll.”

    I do agree with you about PL trying to make sure the league isn’t won at Firhill.

    It would add 10, 000 to the crowd versus Ross County if it was league winning day.

    Murrayfield capacity officially 67,800. Think most of them were drunk and in the Roseburn on Saturday night.

    Did raise the issue of why they are allowed in after the game but ‘footie’ fans aren’t? No real answer just shrugged shoulders.

    Will check again though now that these qualifiers will be mid week at Murrayfield. Don’t think we will approach capacity for first or second CL qualifier in mid July – but it will be handy !!

  8. JamesGang, of course they paid for them! What are you suggesting!!

    Maybe dodged on the tax though, not dignified all that tawdry tax paying.

    FGF, it needs to be shared!

    Sure will be handy for us Embra punters.

    I’m sure the capacity is reduced for fitba.

    Lots of tourists could be enticed to come along and also a few locals. The Edinburgh, Fife and Lothian Tims have a duty to fill that ground. It should be full.

    Celtic hopefully get the pricing right.

    Trams running every day in Training / Test mode with Customer Services due to start in May I believe. All roadwork completed and streets tidied up a while back. You can walk down the stairs of the new Murrayfield stop and walk a few yards to the turnstiles.

    Well they better not disrupt us again as they did for a summer when they built the bridge over the railawy at the golf course during the night – and then put the nearest stop over 15 minute walk away !!

    So you better take the route along past the zoo (would be great idea for travelling to home games from Embra) or there will be a riot – fact!!

    Re my earlier post on Clydebank and the related bombing of Dresden — The raids on Dresden on 13th and 14th February 1945 is and was one of the most barbaric acts I have ever heard of.

    ================================================================

    For me the dropping of nucleur bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki trumps even that!

    ====

    At least there was some semblance of method in the madness of the nuclear strikes on Japan. The Americans knew that an invasion of the Japanese mainland would cost thousands of American lives. The Japanese fought tenaciously with suicidal bravery defending every meter of ground. The closer the Americans got to mainland Japan the greater the level of resistance they faced. So one can see logic in the use of the ‘the ‘bomb’ in order to minimise American losses and end the pacific war. However the deliberate targeting of densely populated German cities In what has been rightly described as ‘a premeditated institutional act of terror and deliberately planned mass murder’. The allied bomber crews were rightly know as ‘terror flyers’

    Absolute rubbish.

    I have it on good Authority that Scottish Government, GCC, The Vatican and the Co-op have joined together to provide each Celtic supporter with a Jet Pack to get through to Murrayfield.

    Tickets will not be required; just a jet pack.

    There will be no turnstiles in operation except for the away team supporters.
