Celtic midfield problems

645

Neil Lennon accepted responsibility for the tactical decision to start yesterday’s game with three at the back, saying, “We thought the three would suit us, but that didn’t seem to be the case. We looked a little bit flat the first 10-15 minutes and I don’t know why.”

Hibernian scored during this period, which may or may not have been a result of the defensive line-up, but if anything, Celtic were even flatter after they went to four at the back.  The game was a throwback to the days when Gordon Strachan’s teams worked hard but seldom inspired.

The midfield didn’t dominate enough of the ball to prevent Hibs creating several good chances and was unable to craft a clear-enough opening.  With Charlie Mulgrew on the field we are always dangerous, and Kris Commons has a better sense of where the goal is than anyone at the club, but without them we grasp to Paddy McCourt, who only seems to get the call when we’re in trouble.

So where do we need to strengthen next month……………?

No-one, least of all Kilbowie Kelt, will ever stop you from expressing an opinion.

There are indeed good and bad coaches but I still stand by the view that, even the bad ones, John Barnes, Jim Jeffries or Grame Souness know more about this game than we credit them as knowing.

    Awe Naw,

I had high hopes for BBJ but I heard he slipped up recently, though I have not seen what he said or wrote. I’d still acknowledge that BBJ did get Celtic but his dose of Celtic may be reacting to some Media antibiotics.

  3. Adverts on the TV, £2 per month for savin kids who don’t have clean water followed by adverts for adoptin snow leopards for £3 a month. Have I missed something? Are snow leopards predicted to invent a cure for cancer in 2013 ? Has someone just discovered that snow leopards built the pyramids or invented the space shutttle ?

This advertisin campaign must have cost a six figure sum. Who payed the cash up front ? Do snow leopards have cash ? Are they scamming us ?

Mibbees we should sign one just incase.

  4. An expert opinion.

    Bobby Lennox on young players and team development;

“I must have played four seasons more as a reseve player than a first team player. Playing a dozen games maybe in the first team or half a dozen games.

But it was a great learning, a great apprenticeship and I’m really glad I done it., at the end, because when I used to come into the team at first I was making lots of mistakes and not doing what I thought I could do. I was playing outside right, a position I’d never played anywhere in football before. I really think I needed that 3 or 4 years which I was lucky to get. Some guys might not get it now but I was fortunate to get it.

And then the Manager came. Big Jock came and I got into the team. Bertie arrived. And Bertie and I struck up a wee kind of partnership and we just seemed to blossom from there.”

  5. Ok,

    Nuff of this,

King edward I..wanted money and the only way he could get it was by taxes, and the only way to get taxes was to take it off the common people,so in order to get taxes without any aggro they decided to form a parliament and invite the commoners to send representatives .

So someone of importance was sent from each area, and they formed the house of commons.

Then the king would say to the house of commons..I need dough to fight a war or whatever, and the house would av a think and say ok.they would pass it then it would be passed on as taxes to be raised from the people.

Not much has changed since then so basically we’re f@%ked

I am older and there is a possibility may lose my job early next year. I too want to continue working.

The early retirement thing looks like an advantage for the polis or the firemen but it does not suit all.

I would have probably worked on past my retirement date however having your bowel removed and having to carry extra baggage ,if you know what I mean, isn’t conducive to running about the streets of Glasgow chasing young bucks

The only real problem I have now is being unable to wear my thong on my annual visit to Santa Ponsa and the cubicles at the football always seeming to be occupied by someone who has to have the assistance of a pal to assist him in wiping his chorus and verse

  17. Minceyheidman,

I agree, Tony Stokes would help, yesterday he may well have made a difference.

In a couple of the games this season when we have struggled, he may well have made the difference.
