Is Anderson any better than McManus, Caldwell, Loovens, Wilson, Rogne, Mulgrew, Majstorovic, even O’Dea, or for that matter any central defender Celtic have had in the last few years?

In my opinion – Yes, No, Yes, Yes, No (potentially), No, Yes and Yes.

So you’re probably right, not any better (by and large) than Celtic have had in the last few years. Certainly not worth paying Aberdeen a transfer fee now, but given, that Celtics preferred Central Defenders in the last few weeks have consisted of Mulgrew (LB), Wanyama (CM) and Lustig (RB), then I would have thought Anderson, would have been a reliable inexpensive option. But, as you say, you never know how they will perform in the hoops.

Apparently the Cedars Inn closed the bar before they arrived up the road from the club so late night drinking was curtailed.

They were “fresher” than I expected:o)

    Curly was just…………Curly.

He wasn’t getting much service until later in the game.and was having to drop back to pick up the ball. I don’t think it’s good to see him running back into midfield or wide to get the ball. Yes he was static at times but the whole team seemed static at times :)

Paddy look his best yet! I thought Wilson done well when he cam on and Murphy looked up for it and despite a couple of bad touches, fought back to regain the ball.

I think if we’d scored first half or early in the second, it would have been a more fluid game from the Bhoys.

  4. Did anyone see Davie Hay say in the evening Times midweek that Mo Johnston was his best signing?

Didn’t he sign McClair- surely he was a better player than Johnstone and better value?

He scored something like 99 goals in 145 games. And cost £100,000.

Johnston’s return is: 52 goals in 140 games. And cost £400,000.

So McClair scored nearly double the goals of Judas and the traitor cost four times more money- and you have to consider that McClair brought more to the game than just scoring goals, he was a fairly decent provider and could play a deeper role as he did laterly for Man U.

    Don’t get that one.

I agree to a certain extent about Hooper. I am no convinced about him as a Player his goals against Hearts skew his goal scoring, in my opinion.

Hooper and Stokes do not at this stage look like a partnership, hopefully this will improve as the season progresses, it simply has to due to the dearth in the striking department.

I take your point that Hooper and Stokes have to give the opposition a much more trying time. However, I firmly believe if Neil can get his tactics right in the middle of the park, Hooper and Stokes will not need to come so deep and in turn will be in the right positions to put that pressure on the opposition.

We simply are not creating the spark. I know the season is just started. However, on too many occasions last season our performances were flat. We need to start by getting the tactics right in midfield and if we do, we should be able to get the ball moving forward, faster and to our two strikers to put the ball in net.

Aberdeen were well drilled, most teams we play this season will be the same, we need to be able to open them up.

All so simply really when you put it down like this but in reality, it is much harder to achieve or so it seems.

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  6. Did it take a “Not welcome at Celtic Park” message for Keevins to get him an interview with Watty ?

9 minutes of the Open Line to go and there has been only one call (From our own Tommy) Delahunt claiming technical problems rather than facing the fact that the show is becoming redundant.

Whatever happened toJohn ” Bummer” brown ?, has his ban from the local boozer been lifted?

At least the ban amnesty down the local masonic will mean he is out of the way of the traffic.

By the way, during his Mr Deeds rant on the steps of Mordor, did Bummer ever mention or criticise Slur Moonbeams?

Have to agree there. McClair brought more than just goals to the team. he was a brilliant player. And a good guy too. If I remember rightly he was good mates with Davie Hay, though my memory is crap, I think I remember seeing them both out drinking together a couple of times. Which would make Davie’s comments seem like they’re not his words or they’ve twisted what he said?

  12. back from the game IMO we need a play on the shoulder, headerer, shoot first touch striker in there and what about a left mid/winger get to the by line type being brought in. Sooner rather than later please :-)

Less said about the referee the better but we’ve got a long season of ‘mistakes’ ahead

Just tuned in a few mins back. So much better than that drivel on Clyde.

Cosgrove’s the most intelligent of all the MSM by a country mile.

Jabba wants a return to the day when a SFA/SPL Chief Executive holds all the cards. No Independent Commissions or Tribunals?

I wonder which club would love to see a return to those days eh?

Jabba’s nothing but a hurtin hun. He doesnt even pretend to be anything otherwise anymore.

    Lol Tommy’s on!!

  14. Hooper and Stokes movement today, including the formers on Wednesday, was pretty non-existent.

They desperately need competition as a stimulus.

Enjoyed the game today……great bantor etc ……think some of the players (unjustifiably) were in 2nd gear, to avoid injury…..happens with most teams, but not acceptable …. 100% required every game…..that’s why teams have squads …….. Anyway, wee mention on snyde about rumours sevco are having problems with cashflow already …… sheer panic from the pundits …LOL ….will read back

  20. Not long home from my great neice’s christning to hear that it was the usual start of season game – toiling against the parked bus.

Hate to bring it up again but I did say that if the huns were put in division 3 then expect an SFA backlash courtisy of our WORLD BEATING Refs.

Any coincidence that we’ve had Brother Callum in 2 of our last 3 home games – and one was a friendly. So i’m sure we can expect the vast majority- about 60%+ – of our SPL and Home Euro games to be Reffed be the Brothers Grim – Brother Callum, Brother Willie and Brother Iain. Thank god for the Miroslav Zalinkas of this world.

As I missed the game who took the captaincy from Georgios??

Be most greatful for an answer1

Celtic made a real impact with their silence………entering the debate would have given the MSM the opportunity to deflect the attention away from the bhuns…..great strategy IMO

I agree. What could have been said that wouldn’t have ended up deflecting attention away from them?

Maybe if Chuckles the clown Green hadn’t allowed himself to be possessed with the spirit of triumphalism and supremacy that pervades Mordor then he wouldn’t feel pressurized into shelling out seven grand a week for SPL duds! Doesn’t show a lot of faith in that Murray Park youth system the MSM are always inexplicably bummin up…that same system that produced the unique talents of Boab Malcolm and Fleckinho! Atavistic regression back to type if ever I saw one! Ah well, bams do as bams are! Bunch a bams! The quicker they go down the swanny the better…just as they should have been allowed to if the rules had been applied fairly in the first place! Bunch a bams!
