  1. big wavy,

You are indeed right, Ange loved what young David did for us in the early times of his tenure.

I Hope David sogns an extension.

That Competition for places when even Energy Bunny Cal can get a wee break without us winning by 3 or 4 goals.

What an Idiot I’m for turning doon a ticket to see Gerry C with Karen & Aidan.

For those who covet the preseason cup and the Backpage trophy …

… I’m afraid you’re going to be disappointed for yet another season.

Sevco running away with it … again.

Smiths caddy / agent or somebody close was on radio Scotland yesterday, Ange actually gave a talk to their Aussie rules football team that they support, they are well aware of Ange and think he is ā€¦ inspirational and they said .. ā€œmost Aussies know that about Ange anywayā€

  8. As an aside ā€¦

Build a team around Turnbull & co

Weā€™ve yet to have a full season from the Bhoy and his scoring stats are excellent without a full season

    Back to the golf :-)

  9. Smith has it won unless Rory eagles the 18th. Difference has been Smith has holed 6-7 long putts, Rory has been inches short.

I dinnae like Golf because Dalmuir was mad, the pressure 1st tee, Holiday.

The Vale………wow sideways – what chance you got?

I eventually got a subscription to Dumbarton GC.

The course is flat, ideal for Debbie McGhee…… No I was mince at the game. I played Dalmuir quite a bit but still didnae get a Birdie at the Wee Drap. I was OK at other sports, Golf Nah.

    6th is on Tattie Scone?

  11. Smith absolutely cool as Icehouse. A little smile, a cold drink and a phone call home. Feel sorry for Rory, did nothing wrong. No bogeys, two birdies but someone else was sinking putts from everywhere.

  12. Wee jackie mac is trying to book a long weekend in Lisbon -bare there stadium tours?

  13. The silversmith took a chance and wrote Cameron as the first name a few holes back.

What they did on the last hole was simply immense, did not leave Rory a way back.

McIlroy as recently gets close to a major but cant quite dig it out

Only the Huns can sign a defender from Liverpool who has never actually played for Liverpool.

Canny be arsed with playing golf, played a bit as a youngster, loved Pilkemet (sic) but mainly because it was only 9 holes ā€¦ so half the trouble ..

Love watching the majors ā€¦ elite sport is always an interest ā€¦. Probably spent more time finding golf balls and letting golfers purchase them back at Toonheid golf course ā€¦ itā€™s still a good walk wasted :-)

    Re Estadio Nacional

I donā€™t think they do official stadium tours.

But many Bhoys have said that theyā€™ve approached the stadium security guy on duty, slipped him a few Euros, and been given entry to the stadium for a quick look around (but not allowed on the grass lol).

Only the Huns can sign a defender from Liverpool who has never actually played for Liverpool.

Only Old Firm FC can buy that defender at double the fee Liverpool bought him in the first placešŸ˜±šŸ˜‚

  19. Prestonpans Bhoys, if the 4 million is correct Liverpool bought him for Ā£500k with ahem performance bonuses šŸ˜€

  20. Not many CBs anywhere in the world are going to get a game for Liverpool, hardly a mark against the player. He went there with a dream but fell short. I would think he is good enough to play for us or them. We thought so not so long ago. Good signing for the Huns. They appear to be doing decent business, though I assume they will lose another couple of players

  21. Davies was on the bench for Sheffield United at the end of the season when they were chasing a play off place

It wasnā€™t because he was going back to Liverpool, the player who played in his place was out of contract

Heā€™s good in possession but a ā€œsoft touchā€ according to a report on Sheffield United news. He made mistakes, was benched and never made it back into the team

Not good enough for the Premiership is the verdict

If he plays instead of Souttar theyā€™ll be better than last season playing from the back, but unless they improve on Barasic (which wonā€™t be hard and is very likely) theyā€™ll be weaker down the left side of their defence

The trick is always to sell your best players but still remain on top. They already need to improve on last season to catch us, I donā€™t think who theyā€™ve signed so far means theyā€™re better since selling Aribo and Bassey

If they change their style then that can bring improvements without needing better players, only different ones. But it can also mess as n they get worse. A gamble, although limited by signing players who are much better than the rest of Scotland

The other struggle they face is an increased wage bill. Their recent transfer sales have been from 2 players who will have been on very low , and one on relatively high wages. They already had a higher wage bill than us last season, theyā€™ve renewed Goldson on what will be a higher wage, and signed six senior players.

Theyā€™re still gambling on CL qualification

A new team, playing a new style, with very few games preparation – itā€™s a big risk

  22. Delighted Smith won the open, BIL said to lump on him so I did, no near as much as he did right enough, but a very welcome influx all the same, must admit thot after yesterday it was gone tho, Oh and even more delighted the cheating hun lost out.

  23. Petec, I was at school with the first ben affleck captain of the Vale golf club, sadly no longer with us now, great Tim BTW

  24. At least we wonā€™t get the usual guff about a move to the premiership when he has a few half-decent games. Heā€™s a mid table championship player who couldnā€™t get near a Liverpool team with a major crisis in his position

Just like Goldson, nobody in the EPL wants him.

  25. We have added a LB and a reserve keeper to last seasons squad, while loaning out Barkas, Scales, Montgomery, Hazard and Soro for the season. We also let Rogic, Dembele, Bitton, Connell, Henderson, Afolabi, Henderson, Doohan and Bolingoli either wind down their contracts or leave for nothing.

I know there is a lot of deadwood in that list and we did well to free up over Ā£120K a week in salaries, but we are down a net eleven squad members and have brought in nothing in transfers to show for it, while spending Ā£12M to retain two loanees for the next 2 or 3 years.

At a time when Ange repeatedly tells us we need to strengthen with the extra games ahead, does anyone think we are stronger today than at the end of last season?

My view is that we need more than two in next week, especially if Julien & Ajeti are also for the off…

Wishlist? 2x CB, a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a third striker…

  26. BIG WAVY on 17TH JULY 2022 5:52 PM

Celtic don’t need to sell anyone but if the right bid comes in and the player wants to go you don’t have much choice these days. Turnbull is a good player and I hope he signs and extension and sticks about for a few more years. Howe er o would not be destroyed if he left and he can make a difference at times.

BACK TO BASICS GLASS HALF FULL

Agree the Orcs are running away with the pre-season cup. Sell Bassey one day, and the next buy Davis. They donā€™t see to mess about. So at center back, they have Goldson, Soutar, Katic, Davis, Helander, and Lundstrum in a pinch. Three of them have scored headed winners against us.

We have CCV, Starfelt, an inadequate Welsh, then a chasm, or simply zilch. We have lost 7 goals to mediocre teams, mainly from our second choice defense. We are an injury to CCV ( possibly in the World Cup ) away from disaster. Ange really needs to hit it out the park with his forecasted signings next week. The Huns are battle hardened, they will have Hagi and the Tubby Colombian back, they will have the usual assistance from the corrupt MIB, and despite them losing Aribo and Bassey, we discount them at our peril.
