God Bless Eurochamps 67 and watch over him for his operation today may you have a quick recovery fella. H.H.

The whole McInnes fiasco is laughable…

He will be the biggest Judas since Mo Johnstone but that said there is zero loyalty in football.

If it suited Stuart Milne he’d bullet McInnes the minute it suited him to do so.

Milne will end up with £1m compensation and a Jack Ross… that’s why he’s one of Scotland’s richest men.

As for integrity well at the end of the day he’s a hun and he’s already closed the gap… no bad given he’s not even taken up post yet.

    Good Morning CQN.

My thoughts and prayers are with Eurochamps 67 this morning as he heads for his procedure.

He is one of life’s good guys and deserves all our support, spirtual and otherwise.

On another front, I am on the mooch.

I have helped organise a wee campaign to feed 805 kids in Liberia over the next year via Mary’s Meals.

So, who will pledge £3/goal scored by Celtic against Anderlecht tomorrow night? Yip – Its the Champion’s League challenge to help feed some kids who have absolutely nothing.

Last year, I got my wee church (150 parishoners) to help sponsor the school which had 265 pupils. Well, we made it and fed everyone, but as a result the number of kids attending jumped to 805!!

That’s the difference that Mary’s Meals make. Food and Education, Educucation and food.

Over the course of a few years such a kitchen transforms a community in many ways.

So, if you have any money at all to spare please make a donation via the link below.

    BUT – THERE IS MORE!!

For every pound donated between now and 31st Dcember, that will be doubled thanks to the generosity of a few well heeled folk.

So come on, take the challenge, make a donation while backing the team and the “winnings” so to speak will be doubled – and all will go to feed these kids.

  5. I’ve posted a couple of times on my doubts on Brendan staying longer than three or four years. Having read his recent quotes I am much more hopeful he will be here beyond that perhaps going for the ten.

Just as important or maybe more important by staying longer he will be able to ensure his footballing philosophy, especially in Europe, is absolutely entrenched into the club.

It might mean another crushing defeat or two if we draw an elite club again next year or the year after but I’m convinced it’s the right way for Celtic to go and the continuity of the same coach is essential.

I had a thought yesterday. Mibbee he’s trying to ‘do a Jock Stein’ 21C style. Taking a bunch of kids from mainly Scotland and ‘new Scots’ from the youth system to build a team to take on Europe’s best.

I wonder also if there might be an emulation of the Liverpool boot room promotion that sees Broonie groomed to take over as manager.

Such is my barely-substantiated optimism this morning that I’ll give BRTH a tenner a goal tomorrow with a minimum donation of £20 and the hope I end up owing £100.

  9. Went out Christmas shopping yesterday.

Around and around, shelf after shelf, filled with tinsel, wrapping paper, santas, reindeer, Christmas stockings, everything you could possibly want for Christmas………. except for perhaps…… Ermmm “Christ”.

The only item on sale which tied back to the day Christ was born was a star.

Our secular world is hell-bent (an appropriate phrase) on wiping all traces of Christ from our lives. So, go on then. Let’s start by cancelling Christmas. If you do not believe in God then it’s only reasonable that you should not celebrate or even recognise in any way shape or form, the birth of His Son.

If, on the other hand, you choose to celebrate Christmas, celebrate it properly and thank God for the birth of His Son.

Along the same lines I thought I would share this so true view from Fr Nick Welsh (another Cowie Bhoy)…

“The Scottish Government has started a hashtag #belikestandrew which I guess is an attempt to commercialise St Andrew’s Day alla what has happened in Ireland with St Patrick’s Day (also known as St Paddy’s Day). I’m fully behind the Scottish Government’s suggestion to be like St Andrew, but not in the hijacked way they might want to present (ie. to support ‘his values of compassion and solidarity’, according to the First Minister in her St Andrew’s Day Message today – which, by the way, is entirely made up because almost nothing is known of St Andrew, and so to claim he espoused these values is entirely untrue). What we do know of St Andrew is that if you want to #belikestandrew, then you should give your whole self to Christ, spend your life trying to bring others to him, and be prepared to give your life for him. St Andrew was an Apostle, a man who gave his life for Christ, not a flunkey for a political party’s twee nationalism. St Andrew is great because he gave everything for Christ, not because of his supposed and imposed PC values. Leave St Andrew for the Christians and go and find your own heroes who can inspire a nation to greatness…I guess I’ll be waiting a long time.

I made sure I bought NOTHING on Black Friday.

On principle. And it can only be a matter of time before we see secular Easter bunnies pacing the shopping aisles before December is out.

    —————————-

You are of course correct, however Christmas is as much ( if not more ) a cultural celebration.

As posted last week I was amazed at the Christmas decorations in Berlin; Not just the legendary markets but private houses.

Considering this city was once dubbed the “Atheist capital of the world “ I found it amazing.

Before drinking Merchant City dry before the game and drowning their sorrows after ; Hopefully the Belgians will enjoy our two Christmas markets as much as we enjoy theirs.

Agree with this – does my head in. Was in the shop in The Monklands on Friday and they were punting Christmas Cards. I asked if the had any cards that had anything to do with Christmas? No a single one.

I’m not suggesting forcing your views down others’ throats who may be into the “Happy Holidays”, or even the now almost obscene over-commercialisation of Christmas.

It is just that there seems to be an overt approach whereby any reference to the nativity is obliterated lest it offend someone.

BREAKING: UK will concede that there will be no “regulatory divergence” on the island of Ireland on the single market and customs union, acc to a draft text seen by @rtenews

    —-

If RTE are right and it is true that the UK has conceded single market and customs union in NI to avoid a hard border, they same concession must also be applied to Scotland. Otherwise devolution is a farce.

  19. I think Derek McKinnes is aware that the Sevco gig is his, and he’s miffed they haven’t raised the compensation for Aberdeen yet.

His fake denials, uncertainty and cryptic comments are as big a giveaway as his non trying players evident in the game yesterday ( Kenny McLean – Sevco target ). At best the whole Level5 led fiasco has undermined Aberdeen in their inability to compete against Murty’s mingers.

The high masons will all be talking this morning on how they can come to a compromise on the back of two wins for Sevco and two defeats for the Dons who are after all always ready to ‘move on’. The dye is cast for

Sevco’s latest effort replacing the manager who’s just gubbed their new manager twice.
