    ———————————————–

Don’t ever recall a time when Celtic’s statements condemning racism and bigotry in all its forms wasn’t called out time after time right on time.

    Care to elaborate?

  2. Sláinte Ange on 22nd August 2021 11:30 pm

Talking of Moussa, he scored 2 (1 pen) yesterday for Lyon. I’m surprised he’s still there, wish he were here!

    ————

He was loaned to A.Madrid last season with an option to buy but flopped

He’s a better player than Eddie yet has struggled to score goals away from Scotland.

  3. Letting shirt companies take decisions on shirt designs is proving to be a disaster. The Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs shirts today were all hideous messes, and looked to be designed by a graffiti artist.

Could easily have been 10 yesterday. The ‘never stop’ directive-from Ange will have many teams beat before they com into the pitch,

Meanwhile just had a laugh at Slippy Gerrard lifting his skirts to generate transfer interest in someone, anyone from his squad. The loyalist press Corps as ever doing their bit to punt the fake news. In recent days it’s been Kamara, Morelos, Kenya and Tavpen. No genuine interest in any of those dumplings, so now it’s the reserve right back whose baws have still to drop.

£5M won’t buy him apparently (and Rafa Benitez is on of them, to coin the old Shankly gag).

Brilliant stuff. As my old dad said today, it’s screamingly obvious they are too skint to bring in anybody (the odd squad filler aside).

The new post-Lawwell Celtic should grind the horrible, racist, cheating bar stewards into the dust.

  5. It’s a dark day for the blog when Messrs Lennon AND Weller are getting it in the neck.

Two iconic – allegedly flawed – characters who’ve achieved way more in their professions than their critics.

Weller near broke my heart when he broke up The Jam; but he’s given me joy through his songwriting canon.

Lenny near broke my heart when we squibbed the 10; but he’s fondly remembered by me as a great Celt who fought any comers on – and off – the field; not least his admitted struggles with that bastarding black dog fog!

Just hate to see him cosying up to his Beeb media ‘pals’ – rats to a man. Kenny, Tom etc – erses!

Any more spurious Weller abuse will see youz reported to the MODerators ;)

  6. PLB,

There’s a part of me that wants the Huns to win on Thursday – as much as it pains me.

It would mean harder games for them, so less likely for to win – hopefully their heads going down, fans losing confidence and them earning no real extra money than in the Europa League (as was suggested on CQN the other day).

  7. At this point in time, out of the two games within the next seven days, the one against AZ is by far the most important. Not just because it is the next one, though it is and I went to the Jock Stein school of football, but because a positive result in the Neverlands takes us into the group stage of the Europa League. Paramount on two counts, one, it gives Ange a chance then to focus on Ayebrokes, with no domestics for 2-3 weeks, and two, and this is even more paramount, the final of the Europa is in Seville. Ergo, right result against AZ gives us a chance to dream. Not perchance, a chance. Ayebrokes never does that…..

  8. Celtic Mac,

Seville – Wow – That is spooky.

I dinnae think I’ll be at ma Big Sisters Wedding this time. Here we go —— Covid might be a bummer.

  9. I’m not getting the vaccination as I feel I have had the virus when I was working in Barrow in Furness.

Natural antibodies are much better than manmade wans.

    Anyone who disputes that is…….

  10. QUADRO, on a lighter note re Weller/Jam not being Mods. I had the sta press trousers, boatin blazer et al except the mod parker. Back in the early 80’s you couldnt get your hands on an authentic mod parker unless it was handed down. the only other route was buying 2nd hand complete with badges, graffiti et al. On the day of a game versus der hun I managed to get hold of one then headed on up to Celtic Park and couldn’t wait to suprise my mates.

We had a agreed to meet at the usual spot in the Jungle. Standing in the queue, almost in, big burly polis yanks me out the line near the front whilst I was just joining in the chant of “GET YER UNION JACK TAE FCUK”.

You probably guessed it the mod parker with the Who isignia also had the backdrop of a largish union flag and a target on the back.

Fair play to that big polis, not only did he prob save me from a doin but he also allowed me to collect the parker at an agreed spot after the match.

Viruses can go both ways, they can stay lethal, or, like the common cold, they can just decide to hang around for awhile. I’m hoping Covid will go for the latter.

Nothing can kill the dream……it always lives on

  12. True story.

I went to jam at the Apollo wearing a parka with west ham crossed hammers on the back and a motto of “fuck the mods”

Nice time in central station after with the real mods.

  13. SIONNAGH – good story lol.

I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek anyway with my point about the attack on the modfather, Weller (gossip says he’s a bit aloof etc but I dont know of more incriminating slurs)

I was mibby on the mod thang a bit earlier than you – so my Parka was a bit punked up as well.

Couldnt stand the whole red, white and blue thing (still cant) so all mine had was a wee roundel on the sleeve.

A few of us met in the ‘something’ Rooster in Glassford St but football was never much talked about.

    Hello from Tenerife

    Great game yesterday

    Lenny just shut up now

NJOI the Holiday FB – I think Neil needs to stay out the limelight. Every Celtic Supporter knows the failure for last Season and it wisnae Neils fault. It seems to me he is taking it badly.

Neil has been an Incredible Celt.

  15. Quadro, we were only in our early teens at the time but that was the very pub I tried to buy my first pint in. We all went in one at a time thinking that well, if one got knocked back, it didnt necessarily attract attention to the others. I went in last on account of being the youngest and more importantly looking the youngest.

    “A pint of beer, please”.

    Sigh.

Was listening to one of the New York radio stations earlier on today. Had a broadcast form one of those emergency Chief kind of guys who was warning everybody in Hurricane Henri’s path to fait attention, and if in the eye of the storm, pack some things, and get the hell out of there.

He told the tale of the emergency responders attending a small town not quite in the Catskills, but in danger of being flooded out bigstyle. Door to door. One old guy refused to leave, told the ER guys, “I’m a God fearing man, go to Church every Sunday, the Lord will look after me”. Fair enough.

Two hours later, and two feet of rain later, the emergency workers turn up again and advise the guy, that it is time to get out, and they will send a truck which can still get through, and pick him and his things up.

“I’m a God fearing man, go to Church every Sunday….. God will deliver….” Okay

Next time the emergency guys turn up in a boat, in six feet of rain….

“I’m a God fearing man, go to Church every Sunday, my God will save me” It will only get worse from here on in. And it does.

Some time later the old guy is up on his roof with the water coming up close to his neck, when a Helicopter flies over, they throw down a rope and a harness and yell, “Grab a hold of the rope”

    “I’m a God fearing man…….

    Next stop the Pearly Gates….

Welcomed in by Peter, he gets to meet his Maker….

“Thing is I am confused, I am a God fearing man, go to Church on Sunday, thought my God would save me”

    “You’re confused?” Replied his Maker….” I’m confused! ”

    “I sent a truck….then a boat….and then a helicopter…….. “

    Re.Moussa

I don’t think he was given much of a chance at A.Madrid. Mind you, not an easy place to break into the first team.

I would have him back in a flash

  18. SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX on 22ND AUGUST 2021 3:55 PM

“ILJASB said it better than me while I was typing”

I enjoyed your piece a lot SETTING FREE…” Felt mine was a bit too wordy in parts but you got it just right.

Will Ryan Christie stay? I think it depends on the money. We bought him for a paltry sum and I suspect this has resulted in him receiving a comparatively low wage. As far as I am aware he has only signed two contracts with Celtic – his initial contract and then his current soon to be expired contract. He has been out on loan 3 times – initially after signing for Celtic he was loaned back to ICT and then 2 loans to Aberdeen. So his history doesn’t suggest he is one of our highest earners which he deserves to be. It must hurt him a lot to see some benchwarmers or underperforming loanees getting much more than him. I think he must realize that by going to say Burnley he will get more money, but no European football and less fan adulation (last season excepted). Weighing it up I think he would stay if he gets a good deal. Ange wants him to stay. I think the Board should give him the deal he deserves along with a four year contract. He could be guaranteed that he will be allowed to go after two years. That way there are no losers if by that time we are doing proper succession planning.

That really struck a bell. As a 16 year old, I was once asked to play for the Old Hawkhead Hospital

( now Leverndale ). I was the only player under 18. After the game, the team went to the Argosy Bar ( what a pit ) on Paisley Road West. I had never been in a pub before, or had any alcohol. I got in company with 3 others, who all bought a round, and then looked at me when it was my turn. I was already half pished, and when I struggled to reach the bar, which was 3 or 4 deep, I asked for 4 pints. The barman looked at me and snapped “Of what?!” I had nae idea!

  20. INIQUITOUSIV, the very day I was eventually served consistently, I felt indestructable. A few rounds in and the waterworks start. Exiting the toilet, well, it didnt matter which stool I’d been sitting on, any stool would do. Moments later laughing heartedly at whatever, I leaned back on a bar stool back rest that wasn’t there anymore. Taxi.

    Sigh.

  21. Scotland’s MSM attempting to address the racist attacks on Kyogo Furuhashi.

“Hello, am I speaking to Mark Walters media’s agent? I’m calling on behalf of BBC Scotland…..”

  22. Picked up the scraps of something on BBC UK24 just now. Anyone know anything about two UK Loyalist bands in a head on collision heading for the Irish border?

Ibrox boss Gerrard says if a bid has been received, no one has yet told him but he is adamant it will take a lot more than £5million to prise the talented teenager away from Ibrox.
