  2. My seat in FS1 South Stand gave me a perfect view of the assault on Turnbull .

I was in direct line …. my own UNIQUE ANGLE.

Alan Power knew exactly what he was doing, I saw the expression on his face, as he charged in and before he launched himself ,

It was a face of anger and determination,

i feared the worst as he went airborne , he was coming in with intent, and the intent was not to win the ball but to cause harm.

You can often tell when a challenge is out of the norm … (worse than the usual physical agricultural that we often see trying to neutralise better teams) by the reaction of the supporters who are closest to the incident.,

The crowd as a whole reacted, but those of us who saw the assault up close and witnessed the intent were outraged.

(regardless of what anyone will say in his defence, mitigation ,

    miss-timed,

he’s not that type of player etc.

( he actually is that type of player)

Alan Power has previous, he put Jeremie Frimpong out with a similar off the ground challenge when he was at Kilmarnock …. he wasn’t booked then.

The fact that Willie Collum sent Alan Power off tells you how bad it was

  4. It seems many folk on here are still hurting because of the failure to achieve 10IAR and more generally because of the abysmal performances that saw us finish 25 points behind rangers. Imagine: Neil Lennon is hurting too, grieving probably. Neil Lennon’s personal performance was only, in my opinion, one of the reason for the disaster that was last season. There was Covid and all that was connected to that, there was an inept board, there were players who wanted away and knew that boat had sailed for a while and key players out injured, NL didn’t have his own coaches, there were poor signings and poor loans and of course empty stadiums. It was a perfect storm. Neil Lennon cannot point to all of these things in public but he has pointed to some of these things correctly in my opinion. He hasn’t taken any responsibility himself for what transpired, at least not in public. That may take time and the correct words that show acceptance of having played a part in the failure but that don’t damn him – he’s still young enough to want another job in management after all. None of us really know the full picture so a bit of humility might be a thing to consider. Neil Lennon achieved a lot for and with Celtic as a player and a manager. In both cases he stayed on a tad too long but nevertheless he deserves our full respect. Personally, I don’t find he has said anything outrageous, he has pointed out the obvious but he knows I presume he can never tell the full story. Also, I don’t think it’s fair to say that he wasn’t as good a manager as Ange – only time will tell and it’s too early yet. He was certainly different. So many players have left and new players have come in and the freshness of just something new after last season appears to have rejuvenated a few players but not all. Unfortunately critics of Neil Lennon don’t have an appetite for complexity so they choose a scapegoat. Why shouldn’t he take the opportunity to earn some money talking about his experience – to call him a “soup taker” is an outrageous accusation. Most people who experience grief deal with it their own way but it’s common to try to be active – perhaps that’s what NL is doing. As I said earlier I don’t don’t think he has said anything outrageous, certainly nothing as outrageous as calling anyone a “soup taker”.

Sound posting.we change we go on.its how we learn and adapt…..been that way since we left the hall in 1887.

    Hail Hail

  6. Watching the all action Duracell Bunny that is young Taylor, the only thought that springs to mind is that, if he could cross a ball, he wouldn’t be playing for Celtic. We just couldn’t afford him!

He will get better and better!

    Hail! Hail!

  7. Neil Lennon and the players and wider management own the failures of last year’s campaign

There is no getting away from that

He is, however, fully entitled to give his take on the season, especially as he hears such lazy unprovable theories being bandied about by the uninformed and the under informed, as most of us are when it comes to Inside-CP issues.

All I heard Neil say yesterday was that the theory that players did not give their all for him was nonsense. He cites that some, and he named Eddy, were disappointed and affected by not getting a transfer, but he absolved him of not wanting to play for him or Celtic. There are lots of reasons why players lose form but we, as fans, prefer the simple but lazy explanations of “he can’t be bothered” or “he’s lost the dressing room” to explain poor form. We need our scapegoats and attributing bad intent to our players is our way of explaining it.

I don’t believe anyone at CP wanted to lose out on 10iar but it happened. I don’t think anyone wanted players to give less effort but it is alleged to have happened (without any evidence on player run distances etc;). I don’t think anyone deliberately wanted to declare themselves unfit and unwilling to play last year (though Ajer may have done so this term under Ange in order to force a promised transfer). I do accept that when you are low and anxious that injury and pain can appear more powerful than it actually is.

Nope! I believe they all wanted to win whehter they thought Neil was a great, average or poor manager. But negative factors hang around. Getting off to an indifferent start. Having a player (Bolingoli) land you in trouble with the Government. Being worried by your form. Being concerned that youa re going to be one of the group that failed to land the Ten. Being worried that your powers are waning (Broony) and you may not deserve your place in the team. And finally, becoming clinically depressed when all this stress and failure gets too much for you as a player or manager.

These things all happen, as footballers have been telling us for years but we tend not to have any sympathy for these rich spoiled kids with their bad off field behaviour (real or imagined) and we prefer our comforting fallacy that they only failed because they were lazy or did not want it enough. All us low achievers telling these high achievers how we would have tried harder even though we never reached base camp when they were halfway up the mountain.

Neil just corrected an unfounded belief; he most certainly did not absolve himself of all blame.

He still must take his major share of the blame for the loss of the Ten and that will always be on his records. Thankfuly, those of us who are less reliant on scapegoats can weigh Neil’s contributions in the round and, on my counting, he still comes out well ahead.

  8. Well, All Ireland final is turning out as expected.

Limerick giving an exhibition of strength, skill and fitness.

If our hurlers and GAA footballers players played football we’d rule the world !

  9. MadraRua: Limerick, if they continue to play similarly in the second half will be worthy champions.

  10. Free the bears.

I don’t blame neil lennon. He shouldn’t have been in position in the first place.

The blame lies entirely with those who appointed him.

  11. We all know goalkeepers are mad but it takes a special kind of mad man to be hurling goalie.

Agree about the fitness and strength of these guys and Gaelic football , Aussie rules guys are the same. Really enjoyable viewing.

I don’t think there is a county that can live with them. They are streets ahead of any team.

And I say that as a Banner fan

  13. You wont see a more obvious penalty than that and Madhun and the linesman don’t see it that way. The cheating by the officials will be off the scales this Season. Cheating scum.

  14. KT having a bit of a mare against Chelsea, who are attacking a lot down his side. He doesn’t look fully fit, to me.

  15. If Neil Lennon is opening up about his time with Celtic let him tell us what sleekit McCoist said to him .

  16. If Gerrard ever manages in England – and after making sure Michael Beale goes with him so he’s not left exposed – he will need to learn to accept that the rules of the game are given their plain and natural meaning down there. None of this nonsense demonstrated again today when blatant, important decisions are given a Sevco-specific interpretation. A feckin disgrace.

  17. WESTCRAIGS

Hit the nail on the head.

Let’s see where he ends up managing next, if he ever does.

Saint Stivs (?) unhappy that individuals not using their real names on a blog….

Mr Stivs (I assume that’s your surname?) uncomfortable that those same individuals wish to express their opinion of someone else’s ‘opinion’….

    Double irony bypass, nurse!

    ———————

I couldnt give a rat-arse that people have a “blog-name”. It is a method for joining up,

Overtime those that are comfortable with themselves and others even those opinions they dislike have met up, participated in reallife events, went on the charity drives, led by example of the celtic clubs ethos, and well been more than mere commentators on a blog.

Equally overtime the CQNers became a big network of buddies, friendships grew , people met others in normal walks of life, on holiday , by chance, through mutual aqaintances, sure we even hosted people from abroad in a big handover operation dan from milan on behalf of mike in toronto.

I never went to a golf event or a dinner, but did go to the kano and oscar buckets collection, and gave spare tickets to a MWD and bhoy for a cup final, and BRTH for another, having never met them, but trusting their credetials , I mean why wouldnt I,

At least 200 people between here , sentinal, supporters busses know who i am , know where i live, know my politics, know my holiday plans, know were i am from. know wher i sit at celtic park, it is a badge of honour to me, not something i need to hide,

To frame “he want to know my seat, he wants to meet up”, well why not, what is there to hide, maybe the protaganists are just shy.

The saying goes “never met a CQNer I did not like”.

then there are offcourse thise who post on CQN that nobody has ever met.

  21. again, with the irony being, these people want their opinion heard, in the most disgraceful slanderous ways, but want neil lennon to “shut up “.

serious question, you ever been at a match and heard someone call Neil Lennon a “soup taker” ?

Hartson got called it on here sometime ago.

I watched him yesterday, all through the halftime yatter, when the cans came off he came over to a group waiting , he had a selfie with everyone of them, and several others who joined the impromtu que, reminded me of a disney visit, must have been there 5 minutes at least. he then had the same perfromance trying to walk up the main stand, still there another 5 minutes later.

  22. On a more serious note,

Big congrat to Jimmy Bell today for getting all matching strips, with all the correct spelt names , onto the rightly identified players.
