Neil Lennon’s comments that he will need to sell at Bolton Wanderers before making a bid for Kris Commons, or anyone else, are welcome. Celtic have four important games in the four weeks after this transfer window closes: home and away to Inter Milan, Aberdeen in the league, and a League Cup semi-final against newco Rangers. Commons will be vital for some, if not all of these games.
Inter will play on the front foot and Aberdeen have the players to take the game to us, as they did in the Scottish Cup at Celtic Park last season, but I expect newco to defend their 18 yard line in numbers, a bit like Ross County did last week, a scenario which will require someone with Commons’ craft.
Neil Warnock’s sacking at Crystal Palace was good news, as he wanted Commons, had money to spend and could offer the allure of top-flight football. Neil Lennon would be able to offer Commons familiarity, but with Bolton spending a total of £300k in the summer, their chances of being able to afford a bid for Commons that would raise Celtic’s interest are limited.

Strachan,for the first time in decades Celtic had superior resources – the old club was on the ropes when he arrived.
Won the first two, gimmies more or less – PLG fiasco, and what not – the hun were beginning to sort of realise – they gave into the hordes.
Third title? Mitty was back and they continued to spend – we were absolutely diabolical, despite spending more than the hun.
Problem is – the hun kept on winning, kept qualifying, kept fighting.
Then we got lucky – some bright spark decided to bring Lenny back into the fold,he instilled a fighting mentality ,Broony got injured and had personal tragedy to content with – BR took over in midfield – remember the hun were fighting on four fronts. They came up short,we pipped them to the title – thanks also to Zander and the Sheep.
Tannadice – one of the greatest triumphs ever – thanks to the players and the manager for that JVOH in particular.
Fourth season – on the cards, an absolute debacle – our manager was found out, unfortunately. See Coventry, see Southampton, see Middleborough afterwards.

Looking at the stats from the Hearts/Hibs games and the newco Rangers/Dumbarton games and one striking stat sticks out a mile….
In the Hearts/Hibs game each side committed 15 fouls and received 4 yellow cards, Dumbarton committed 14 fouls and received 4 yellows so there is consistency until you check the foul/card ratio for newco Rangers, they committed 15 fouls and received no yellow cards.

I hope that news is true – time to move Izzy on, he’s not been the same since his injury but, before that sad injury Izzy was a class-act – imho
I’ve always like LW – for me, his discipline is top notch and, coz of that he never looked like a hun in the way that – Naismith, Novo, Kenny Miller and Neil McCann were all right guid players afore the discipline was coached oot them at ibrokes.
Izzy was a fantastic player for us but, it’s rank bad management or indeed, a manager being hen-pecked by a CEO to play a player who has lost it to try to retrieve some cash for him and, to hell with the product on the pitch. This – hen-pecking of managers began with WGS as he was PL’s 1st puppet-manager and as a result…the quality of the product on the pitch has diminished and resulted in half the stadium displaying empty seats – imho

Wee Gordon had hee haw resources. MON’s team were aging and past there peak. MON had paid them handsomely and there was not cash for MOn or anyone. WGS had to build a new team on a shoestring . He brought through Celtic youth and low budget signings and coached them to win, ugly if need be. His success was astounding and Celtic punched well above their weight. History tells the facts.
For Celtic supporters who feel the need to denigrade one of our most successful managers I hope you find something in life to enjoy.
