That whole ‘We don’t do walking away’ without a payoff business looks a little different this morning. Dave King has told the media Derek Llambias and Barry Leach are ‘demanding’ a payoff. It would be more likely that they have informed King of the terms of their contracts, which is all they are able to demand. Under the circumstances, it would be extraordinary if either ‘walked away’ from their contracts.
Contracts of employment are not optional. Terms have to be honoured, even if the employees’ services are no longer required, as I’m sure Mr Llambias’ solicitor will inform him when he discusses King’s threat to sue him for EGM costs. This easy-come, easy-go attitude to contracts is, well, shameless.
For what it’s worth, my money is on Llambias and Leach resigning in the hours before the EGM, once they have ensured business is sorted. This is the scenario King wanted, there’s no point complaining now it’s playing out.
World Autism Day
After their successful work with Downs Syndrome children, the homeless and many disadvantaged groups, next month the Celtic Foundation will embark on work with children with autism. A pilot project is currently being designed which will work to enhance each child’s wellbeing.
Autism is described in terms of a ‘spectrum’ as it includes people who live independently to those who require very specialised support on a daily basis. Recent decades have seen enormous improvements in understanding of the condition and on strategies to help, especially in children, which is where this pilot project comes in.
World Autism Day is 2 April and on that day the Foundation is holding its inaugural Golf Day (11 years behind the magnificent CQN Open) at Renfrew Golf Club. The event is supported by Ryder Cup winner Stephen Gallacher (who will not be playing) and a host of former Celtic players (who will be playing).
It’s a great initiative for the Foundation, reaching out into a new and important area, so if you’re a golfer and will enjoy a day on the course with friends and former players, go here to book.

Hopefully Forrest gets a game :-) hh
Complacency is our problem now.
All this talk of trebles and resting players makes me uncomfortable.
We’ve won nothing yet, and Ronny’s still a rookie.
Play our strongest team until it’s mathematically in the bag.

Don’t think anybody is saying rest players, we have a few out injured and people are just suggesting replacements

Hope not ST.J. are a good team and we need 11 men on the Park.
JG and his agent are flying kites. If JG is looking for 60k per week then he won’t get that offer from Feyernood. Feyernood can’t afford that kind of salary. In fact I would be surprised if they can even get close to what Celtic could offer him.
I think JG will end up with a minor EPL club on a big bucks deal.

Good stuff,mate. A contract is a contract,a deal is a deal.
Pay me.
16 months wages for 4 months work,and a chance to batter a mouthy hun in a hotel too.
Where do I send my CV,and should I gloss over my alma mater?

Hi.

And what he cant do!!!
Happy Fergus McCann day – he rode the winds of change
With a four leaf clover on my breast,
And the green and white upon my chest,
It’s such a joy for us to see,
For they play football the Celtic way.
It’s been ten years, long time indeed,
We stood with pride and we took defeat,
Our beloved team, our ancient ground,
Has been rebuilt, a club reborn.
With a four leaf clover on my breast,
And the green and white upon my chest,
It’s such a joy for us to see,
For they play football the Celtic way.
McCann he rode the winds of change,
And the things he brought will long remain,
A phoenix rising, a house of steel,
And 60,000 Celtic dreams.
With a four leaf clover on my breast,
And the green and white upon my chest,
It’s such a joy for us to see,
For they play football the Celtic way.
The work is done and the stage is set,
The Celtic dream can now be met,
In a sea of dreams, we’re here today,
Lets sit and watch the Champions play.
Guidetti is very similar to hooper for me.. probably more skilful and iv no doubt with a decent partner he would get the goals hooper did.
Sadly for him our formation has changed and similar to hooper a lack of pace doesnt help him fit into the formation ronnie wants.
Im 50/50 with guidetti.. if he is looking to stay and not demanding huge wages id like to see him hang around. If he goes i hope he can fulfil his potential somewhere. As long as ronnie is given who he wants im happy with that.
Scepovic im hoping gets a good run of minutes each week with a couple of starts to see if hes worth hanging onto.
Up the celts
Don’t think anyone is being complacent re: resting players
What I would say is that IMO the important game of the week, having won on Sunday, is the one at Tannadice.
We will be required to play the first two games of the DU triple-header without two important players so we need players in place for Sunday
If that means tolerating the selfish antics of Stokes and Forrest for a while longer, so be it
When we played Ajax in the C/L i had a good chat with Ajax fans ref glass man Boerittger
More interestingly they like us were unhappy at their top players being picked up by the big 5 leagues, they reckoned 25 thousand Euros a week was top whack for an Ajax star, TBH Feyenoord paying 60 grand a week is tabloid cack, as was the 3mill transfer fee for Guidetti

The act is an abomination and should be repealed at the earliest possible opportunity. I’m totally against it.
Where it becomes very hard to say that we as a support are more heavily targeted by it is how you assess the % of all football fans that are Celtic supporters.
If you think back to the stats that use the %population that are Catholic to demonstrate how as a Catholic you’re several times more likely to be a victim of a Sectarian assault that was relatively straightforward.
Is there a similar count for football supporters? If you were to say to me that of those in Scotland that expressed support for a team that 25% said Celtic and 30% said Rangers, I’d say that sounded reasonable.
Aside from quotes like those from Christine Graham, I don’t think you’d ever find it easy to show that numerically one set of fans was more targeted than any other.
~~~~~~~~~~++~~~~~~~~~~
No-one is suggesting that the numbers don’t add up. They do. Indeed they do.
But historically they never did. Why? Because arrests were for breaking the law,and as the law stood,we did not break the law by singing songs of celebration of the achievements of our forefathers,nor of lament and remembrance of what they went through.
WEEMINGER,I genuinely cannot remember disagreeing with you on here before,but you are so so wrong on this.
We ARE being unfairly targetted.
We are subject to legislation which is illegal,simply to prove a point.
Tiny Tim,
I’d disagree. I think 20k would be reasonable.
Shift some of the dross off the wage bill.
I don’t think there’s a striker with a better return at the club and he has more European goals than stokes and LG combined despite starting only 1 game.
Lambias and Leach are “demanding” a pay off in the same way that McCoist is demanding £15k a week to sit in his garden. I doubt any of McCoist’s pals in the media will point out the hypocrisy there.
I suspect Guidetti will leave in the summer with our best wishes. Seems like a likeable guy who has enjoyed his time here. We have seen flashes of brilliance but he is not worth some of the wage figures being quoted.
I suspect Ronny can find a faster fitter version to make us forget all about him next year. Over to you Ronny!
Don’t let BlantyreKev hear you say Hooper had no pace.
“Feyenoord paying 60 grand a week is tabloid cack, as was the 3mill transfer fee for Guidetti”
Lionroars,
Top of the class neebs.
Don’t care who plays the night the squad is good enough to beat any team in this country, and would also not look out of place in the top ten in the EPL either, only thing is complacency, but I think Ronny has a handle on that, should be a very good game, St. J. Will get stuck in thats a cert, and the big right back and Captain, McKay I think his name is will lead by example, as he has any time I have saw them, looking forward to it.
Big Dee fae Gregory’s Girl being interviewed on Radio Scotland .. She was some striker in her day.. Pity a canny see how’s she’s aged.. Was a fine looking lassie :)
Rio 2016: Welsh FA president ‘livid’ over Team GB plans
Football Association of Wales (FAW) president Trefor Lloyd Hughes is “livid” with the Football Association’s plans to enter men’s and women’s Great Britain teams for the 2016 Olympics.
GB teams played at London 2012 but the FA had said that it would be a one-off.
The FA has now written to its counterparts in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales to ask them if they want to take part in Rio de Janeiro.
“I am absolutely gutted with the English FA,” Hughes said.
“If they want to work with us they have to be more open with us and they don’t seem to be keeping to agreements. I’m livid about it.”
The FAW, along with the Scottish FA and Irish FA, refused to give their official backing to Team GB in 2012.
They feared a Great Britain squad could set a precedent that affected their individual memberships of Fifa and the International Football Association Board.
Despite the FAW’s opposition five Welsh players – Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Allen and Neil Taylor – were named in the men’s squad, with Gareth Bale ruled out of the competition through injury having been expected to take part.
Team GB football team at Rio 2016?
Both GB teams would have to qualify and football’s world governing body Fifa would also have to sanction the move
The results of the England men’s and women’s teams are taken into account when it comes to Team GB qualification as the English FA is the national governing body on the British Olympic Association
England would need to finish in the top four at this summer’s European Under-21 Championship for the men to qualify
For the women, England would need to be one of the top three European teams at the World Cup in Canada, also being held this summer
Although Hughes is unhappy, he does not think the Welsh FA can block the FA’s move.
“As far as the Olympics is concerned, it was not long ago that they said London 2012 was just a one-off,” he added.
“Now it appears they have decided on their own to enter a team without discussing it with us.
“I don’t think we will be able to block it, but why has Seb Coe and the British Olympic Association gone to England? The BOA should be more open and transparent
“It’s supposed to be the British Olympic Association, not the English Olympic Association.”
The GB men’s side, coached by Stuart Pearce, lost on penalties to South Korea in the quarter-finals in 2012.
The women’s team also lost at the quarter-final stage, to Canada, but a crowd of 70,584 – a record for a women’s game in Britain – saw GB beat group rivals Brazil 1-0 at Wembley.
Hughes is competing against English FA nominee David Gill, the ex-Manchester United chief executive, for the Fifa vice-presidency reserved for the four British associations.
He has accused the FA of reneging on a written agreement that would see Wales take over the British Fifa vice-presidency in May.
The FA claims the agreement no longer applies because under Fifa reforms the position is elected by Uefa rather than just the four home nations.
But Hughes said: “England seem to want to run everything and take over the whole game.
“But we will not let that happen – the dragon on Wales has still got flame coming out of his mouth. We are not going to be bullied.”
Scottish FA opposes Team GB for Rio Olympics in 2016
By Chris McLaughlin
BBC Sport
The Scottish FA is firmly against the idea of Great Britain football teams competing at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
The English FA would like to field a men’s and women’s team for the Games, but the SFA fears participation would threaten the country’s independent status within Fifa.
It is understood it would not, however, stop players from competing.
“We have been consistently clear in our opposition to Team GB,” an SFA spokesperson said.
The Scottish game’s governing body explained that its opposition stems from the “threat it poses to our independent membership of Fifa and also our representation on the International Football Association Board.”
At the London Olympics in 2012, Team GB entered football sides in the men’s and women’s competitions.
No Scots were included in the men’s team, but midfielder Kim Little and defender Ifeoma Dieke made it into the women’s squad.
Welsh FA president Trefor Lloyd Hughes revealed he is “livid” about the English FA’s plans to enter two Great Britain teams at Rio.
Hi.
Can emdae get into the EGM????
__________________________________________
Saw a Tim on twitter has pruchased 1 share in TRIFC so he can attend. He has bought a TRIFC scarf to wear as a cunning disguise to get him through the door. Looking forward to reading his in-EGM Tweets.
I didn’t mean rest players, we had 2 guys who had to come off at the weekend with injuries, not counting Griffiths as I’m not sure if he was injured or not. Going into the remainder of the season we’ll have injuries and players needing a rest, who is ready to step up to replace them. As I said, I hope Henderson gets a chance, would also like to see a bit more of Wakaso.
I don’t think we’ll be complacent until the league and cups are won, I get the feeling this team is hungry for medals….
Looks like Hutton may need the Scottish MIBs to arrange a move down south.
His exuberance has been noted!
Tonight’s game is giving me the fear.
The last few weeks have seen high intensity, high profile games with all the attendant focus and application. I feel like this week the club is taking a deep breath before going into the next series of high profile high intensity games against wee Jackies team.
We could have done without this game tonight. I reckon RD should be playing guys tonight with something to prove (Scepovic?). The tried and trusted regulars, even subconsciouly, must be fatigued.
In Ronny I trust.
They’ll damn us if we do, and they’ll damn us if we don’t …….. so ……..sock it to them, Ronny (I see, now that the Dons have let them down, the meeja are moving to ‘no competition’ / ‘too easy for ‘them’, mode) ………if I were to remain kind, I would describe our meeja as ‘bampots’.
Off to ma cot. I’ll leave you all with a wee question.
Fill in the blanks,please.
‘The expected cost of decommissioning and cleaning up Britain’s biggest and most hazardous nuclear plant, Sellafield, has increased by £blank in a year, to £blank, Whitehall’s spending watchdog has disclosed.’
Bottom line is that most people would – based on findings on here over recent weeks – conclude that CURRENTLY our best XI is as follows
Gordon
Matthews
VVD
Denayer
Izaguirre
Broon
Biton
GMS
Johansen
Armstrong
Guidetti or Griffiths
Two of the above are unavailable for the next 2 games after tonight, which are shaping as potentially the most important 2 games left this season.
Tonight is about not only rackin up 3 pts, but figuring how to deal with the absence of GMS and Armstrong v their former employers.
With that in mind I would be happy to start any of Wakaso, Scepovic or Henderson tonight. We know what Stokes and Forrest are about.
67 HEAVEN
I’d describe them as needles looking for a cushion.
Anyway,offski.
Great comment under the article……
I saw him in Birmingham city centre at the weekend wearing a Bayern Munich kit.
It was Hutton dressed as Lahm.
Re the Alan Hutton link
Biggest surprise in the article is that Peter Grant is STILL in a job at AV
after having now seen two managers off the premises.
Anti-Irish bigotry – Your views John, Wishaw: Just shows you ignorance of some people. Teachers in Catholic schools don’t need to be of Catholic faith. My son’s teacher wasn’t a Catholic.
Anon: When I attended a Catholic school 40 years ago we had many Protestant teachers. It’s nonsense to claim otherwise.
Jono from Fife: The real issue in Scotland now is anti-English not anti-Irish bigotry. I’m Irish but have lived here for 30 plus years. An Irish accent has never been a problem for me.
What you, and all the other vultures mean about Ronny is – that you will tell him he is daft if we lose or draw tonight.
The Sword of Damocles is constantly positioned over his head and you are desperate to be able to ‘we told you so’.
Let the guy get on with the excellent job he is doing – if he chooses to be different than other managers – i.e. says what he really feels without dressing it up in ‘gobbledegook’ – then good on him – a breath of fresh air.
Perhaps you might learn to ‘keep it zipped’ when talking about things you know NOTHING about.
Naw, minimum changes…..the best team needs to play as a unit as often as possible, to maximise their ‘TEAM’ performance …..changes should only be considered where injuries / suspensions leave Ronny with no alternative ………
