A proposed swap deal with Blackburn with Shane Duffy coming to Glasgow and James Forrest heading south makes sense for Celtic. Late last season we were talking about how Erik Sviatchenko was our only solid central defender, with Jozo Simunovic injured and yet to establish himself.
Duffy made his Euro 16 debut in the 1-0 win over Italy, before being red carded for a professional foul against France. I’m not expecting a van Dijk, but his performances in both games was of the standard Celtic only have with Erik.
James Forrest grabbed the space vacated by Aiden McGeady’s move to CSKA Moscow and made the most of the opportunity but injury has inhibited him in recent years. He’s also suffered from being part of what looked like a World Record attempt of squeezing wingers into a 23-man squad. We need fewer wingers and at least one more central defender.
Brendan Rodgers comments that Kris Commons is nowhere near ready for the first team is not encouraging. I’d have him limp to the bench for the forthcoming qualifiers. Even unfit, he’s capable of linking play like no one else in the squad.

I knew Shane was at Everton, but he left there for game time, joined Blackburn and after a no bad Euros his stock is on the positive, for me, if he was interested in coming to us it would be common knowledge, I think he fancies a crack at the EPL or at a club with EPL ambitions, for me he has no interest in us

Like the rest of ye I like bumping my gums on these topics but the reality is Brendan Rogers is a top professional Manager and he has the added advantage of seeing these guys on a daily basis.
He will make the call whose to go and whose to play and whose to leave.
We have to trust the man to make the right calls.
Like most here, I’m impatient and I want to see movement in shedding about 8 and getting in about 4.
I have no doubt that there is a lot going on behind the scenes but as an earlier poster said, I hope we are looking at players outwith the Championship, The EPL & Championship is an over priced shop.

Reading back, I care less about what the zombies/SFA say and do …. I dont expect anything from them. What I do care about is what Celtic, and those that represent it, say and do.
And the silence from Celtic has become too much. It does seem like the only thing that matters to Celtic PLC is the Pound/Dollar. Perhaps I am being naive, and it has always been that way … perhaps it is just with the internet nowadays, we are more aware of what is going on. A little knowledge can be dangerous…
I said that if the Club hadn’t, at least, addressed the issues in some way before the start of the season, I wouldn’t watch them until they do. So, I have cancelled my Celtic TV, and wont watch the bhoys again unless and until the Club at least says something about what is going on.
I know my little subscription wont make a difference to the Club, but I just dont want to be giving money to people who run the club in a way that I cannot support.
Now… when I post my pish, and you think ‘that numpty must not even be watching the games’, you will be right. :)
