Dunfermline debacle caution ahead of Motherwell

996

Do you remember the game after the Cluj Champions League debacle last August?  Of course you do, you are still chasing the cold from you bones, it was a League Cup encounter with Dunfermline at Celtic Park, where the Championship club took the game to extra time.  The game, the only domestic cup tie in 34 games we have not won in 90 minutes, was six minutes from going to penalties before James Forrest settled things.

I don’t know what happened in the dressing room between Cluj and Dunfermline but I cannot imagine it is a happier workplace this week.  This is Celtic and everything goes on the line every game.  Let’s not have a repeat of the Dunfermline performance.

I know a few Motherwell fans and they are unanimous in their praise of David Turnbull, their star 21-year-old midfielder who joined Celtic on a reported £3m deal yesterday.  Turnbull originally signed for Celtic in June last year, before failing a medical.  A knee operation, and the best part of a year in recuperation, saw him clinch his dream move yesterday.

The question now for the manager is, how does he shape his midfield?  Therein lies the answer to our season.

Welcome to Celtic, David.

    Yes you are right.

We should claim a percentage of their success in the 70’s!!!

Mind you I was sad both times they lost the finals they were great to watch

  2. So, not only is tomorrow’s game the latest chance for you all to vote for your top 3 performers but as it’s also the last game in August then the Player Of The Month award is also up for grabs. The Player Of The Month one is quite simple – the player that gets the most total votes for the month. Here’s the current standings (well, the top 8) with the total number of votes for the 5 games played so far –

124 – Ryan Christie (Played 3 full games and subbed twice; scored once)

96 – Greg Taylor (Played 3 full games and subbed twice; scored once)

94 – Mo Elyounoussi (Played 2 full games and subbed 3 times; scored 2 goals)

89 – Odsonne Edouard (Played 1 full game and subbed 3 times; scored 4 goals)

85 – Callum McGregor (Played 5 full games)

66 – Jeremie Frimpong (Played 1 full game, subbed twice and came ion as a sub once; scored once)

65 – Olivier Ntcham (Played 1 full game, subbed once and came on as a sub 3 times)

57 – Hatem Abd Elhamed (Played 1 full game, subbed once and came on as a sub twice)

  3. Guys,

Talking about bonus rows, do we never learn.

1996 Celtic went on a ” work to rule” in a row over bonus payments. Fergus made a few comments about certain players behaviour.. Deja vu.

    At least Yorkhill hospital gained.

Funny enough, last week we were just discussing the game against the Sheepies at the time ; the one where Regi Blinker scored an absolute cracker with the head. 3 – 2.

Pity it was in the wrong end.

    HH.

  4. You took it the wrong way, what I was saying was let’s just give Feyenoord credit. I don’t believe that you have been crucified, but the more you go on about it the more people will read it and come to their own conclusions.

    Let it go

Sometimes this place gets really weird…but I enjoy it…

Corkcelt…re Bayo…there was something inevitable about that.

I’m taking nothing away from Feynoord

One time winners just like us. Their fans will remember and celebrate like us. We’re very similar. We beat the hot favourites in the final with a new brand of football.

They done likewise. What’s not to like?

If we ever wanted to be beat they’d be the team we’d appreciate

  10. Ok why would you come on to a celtic web site and tell a story about how two of the finest celtic players downed tools on route to a European cup final, and in your mind this would have affected their performance.

One question. are you a hun

  11. 3something?

    Can’t read? Doesn’t surprise me.

Sudoku? I’ll leave that to nerds thanks. Next?

  12. Who actually takes to the time to log onto a Celtic forum then post nothing about Celtic … at least the Hun interlopers play the game

Fellow Celts … enjoy the game tomorrow

Apologies to all if some others think I post too much … it’s a weekend thing

    :-)

    Adios amigos

Change of subject…watched Apocalypse Now last night on iplayer… I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve seen it but it’s still the best war movie ever…(in my very humble opinion)…along with Battle of Algiers…

  14. My uncle, at the time was president of the Kearney Celtic Supporters club. He travelled with the team to and from the final. Only strong words from Jock Stein stopped Jinky and Tg going “on strike” before the game due to lack of bonuses apparently promised but not forthcoming. I’m not saying they didn’t try but not a good mindset playing a final I’d imagine

Read what you posted, going on strike in other word down tools

Where do you get you gear from

  15. This is just getting childish now. Personally I’m above it and….I can’t really be arsed….guys…if that’s what you are….enjoy yersels
