Football protocols above and beyond NHS

279

In the first and almost certainly only time I’ll ever quote Motherwell manager, Stephen Robinson, the Motherwell manager said, “”The protocols [football has]adhered to are above and beyond anything else, it’s above the NHS frontline staff.

“And football can give respite from the mental health side of things. In a world where things are complicated and strange, football can be that relieving factor, that little bit of joy and happiness.”

But holding test events?  Testing is anathema to governments in Edinburgh and London, where superstition is the route followed by our governing twins.  Instead, they open the pubs for fans to congregate indoors, untested and without any chance of proper supervision.  There is no scientific evidence for this preference, in fact, this choice goes against all evidence.  Football is the most prepared industry in the country to allow staff and public to participate, as Stephen Robinson said, more so than the NHS, but your governments chose differently.

Conspiracy theory loonies : How many so called conspiracy theories have been proven true.?

=A broken clock is correct once a day, certain theories do not require serious consideration.

Religious nutcases : Freedom of speech, do you decide what religion is for nutcases. ?

= No I don’t decide for anyone, all religions are for nutcases really, each to their own I guess. Just finding the scroll on by happens more and more these days.

Raving unionists including the host : The host has originated this blog, it’s his right to post what he thinks. He spends a great deal of time and effort for you to ” enjoy”.

= He did indeed and I’ve been on pretty much since day one, my point was that the site seems to have lost its reason for existing.

Note : For every ” raving” unionist there is an equally” raving ” Scottish Nationalist.

= I disagree with you on that one, my experience is that that the trolls on this site are overwhelmingly raving unionists.

Big Jimmy – I don’t know specifically about this Riga team but Basketball is huge in all the Baltic nations and their sport men tend to be tall in general.

  4. The problem with this site is there are too many experts posting on every subject.

Not one of you knew anything about covid this time last year and now we are overrun by experts spouting the facts. Or is it their opinions?

I’m beginning to think there’s a NAT 5 exam in coronavirus out there somewhere.

Have we signed a left back yet?

  5. People in football are starting to get restless. As their industry (apart from the very top level) continues to fight for its very survival, they watch on as other entertainment industries continue their trade in a less safe environment.

Colchester United’s chairman said: “Can someone explain how I can safely sit in a confined airplane with 300 passengers and I can safely east inside a restaurant or drink inside a pub until 10 pm but I can’t safely attend a football match which is predominately outside and has been certificated as safe by the SAG?”

Many will question why Paul bangs this drum day after day. That’s because this is an existential threat to Scottish football and Celtic Football Club.

We will start seeing more of this as people in this industry face disaster.

You know the ones, the official ones, written by a Scotsman.

There have been alternative versions down through the years, and a version was sung by the crowd at the Peterloo massacre, but I doubt you’d be interested in any of that. Probably written by an Englishman.

  9. I remember old Neganon was a big fan of the opinion as fact. Whatever happened to him?

Did he eventually give up on his one man campaign?

  10. I hope and pray that Celtic can get back on TOP on the SPL asap….As if this Covid gets worse etc, then The Scottish Govt may look at ending the season early…and IF The Mankie Huns were at the top…then we all know what that could mean ?

I have to assume that any decision taken by the Scottish Govt, will far outweigh any possible SPL Rule ( that may exist ?), that so many games MUST be played before the Champions can be declared…should the season be called early ?

IF such an SPL Rule does indeed exist …cos I dont know anymore ?

Reluctant to take this further on a match day but ernie is right in this regard.

Whe people point out that the cost of separating from the current UK arrangements is going to be as disastrous as the cost of exiting the EU is for us currently, even when the SNP itself eventually got around to admitting it in a recent economic paper, the backlash of unreason and illogic is that “You’re saying I can’t manage on my own!- Well- I’ll show you!”

That ain’t the message being given though. Plenty of countries have left oppresive and benign unions before. The Baltic states and Poland left the USSR; Zimbabwe and South Africa left a system of Apartheid and white rule. And now the UK will follow the example of Greenland (stil attached to Denmark{EU member state} though as an autonomous territory) in leaving the EU. Every one of these countries, with the possible exception of Greenland, whose economy I am unfamiliar with. experienced a strong economic downturn after their “divorce”.

That WILL happen with Scotland too. The zealots in the SNP shouted down their own reserach papaer for telling the truth and , like Rangers liquidation, this piece of economic honesty no longer gets talked about because it might discourage some from voting Yes. The costs of separation & divorce are inevitable and will impoverish all of us, BUT……

No one has said, apart from the SNP in twisting this message, that Scotland is too wee to manage on its own; It isn’t and it can do so. There will be around a decade, at least, of lowered living standards and economic hardship. After that, recovery is possible, perhapps even to current standards, but that depends on good economic management of the shrunken economy we will have to deal with.

None of the Baltic states regrets leaving the oppression of the USSR, though there is a significant plantation population of Russians in all of them who do not agree with the overall mood. None of the African states regret leaving the indignity and suffering of White Rule. Our main complaint against our shared sovereignty with Wales, Norther Ireland and England is usually directed at the last named because of their habit of electing Tories and beating us at football, but no Lithuanian or South African would recognise that as oppression.

So the argument is not the pathetic whine of “you’re saying we are too small!”. It is the mmuch harder to address issue of “Yes, we can have Independence but we will all suffer a significant drop in income for a significant period of our lives, but we may recover”. Not a stirring rallying call to the troops but an honest one. The snp took one small step into those cold waters of reality with its Paper on our Future Prospects but it withdrew its toe the following day and went back to peddling sweet lies. They prefer the message “Never mind the poverty- look we’ve got a flag and a border post!” Whoop-de-do.

The day we get an honest message about what Independence will cost, is the day I will join you in voting for it. I am staying here regardless so, if my fellow countrymen feel it is a cost worth paying, I’ll pay it too.

But I am not going to buy into the sweet lies of “Milk & Honey” and “controlling our own destiny” that the English Nationalist Brexiteers pedled or fell for.

Play your best players in their best positions.

James, Callum, Moi, Albian, Ryan, Ollie and Odsonne give us forward penetration and a chance to score.

I know you post in secret and no one seems to have met you or spoken to you other than through CQN.

You have worked hard to develop the wise cracking, put down merchant persona and that seems to be the modus operandi at the expense of ever actually engaging in debate.

So I have no idea whether you are constantly on the wind up or actually just embarrassed about being Scottish or maybe a racist who just hates everything Scottish. Either way I can’t take you seriously.

  19. Broonie will be getting an enforced domestic rest soon, given how many bookings he’s collecting.

  20. While I can sometimes be unhappy with Neil team selection etc, I try NOT to Post about it. He is paid handsomely to do his Job, and I am sure he is man enough to stand or fall by his decisions.

Let the man do his Job, I say.

i would love Neil to play 2 or even 3 up front in every game, but that aint gonna happen . I am almost sure that we have scored 3/4 or 5 goals even when we have had only ONE up front…I could be wrong of course ?

I’m a huge Broonie fan and regardless of what happens this season he will be a legend in my eyes.

However I do agree he is picking up stupid soft bookings this season.

I know there is a train of thought on here that he is done, I’m not of that opinion but his lack of form so far this season is worrying.

I’d give young Mr Turnbull a try in domestic matches the problem is I don’t believe he is a defensive midfielder.

  22. If Celtic is held responsible for the actions of its employees then subsequently the Scottish government should be held responsible for the actions of Cathrine Calderwood who as we all know was the government’s Chief Medical Officer who unbelievably broke her own rules.

  29. Now, as to tonight. The mood music was that Elyounoussi would be back. If true I suspect we may be going 4:4:2 or back to 4:2:3:1 tonight in a must not lose game.

Lenny may be recognising that we have not yet drilled enough safety into our 3 at the back (thought it could be much improved if Scott Brown stayed in our defensive half for most of the game).

We should be capable of avoiding defeat but we do not look like we are oven-cooked enough to rely on defensive fortitude to see us through.

I am happy enough to see us go to a more secure back 4 of Elhamed Duffy Ajer & Taylor but I think this will see Forrest & Elyounoussi on the wings of the front 3 to support Edouard (if it is a 4:2:3:1). That would mean losing one of the Brown, Christie, Ntcham & McGregor quartet.

If we go 4:4:2- we bring Ajeti in to share the load and we lose either Forrest or ELyounoussi along with one of the midfield quartet.
