Gerrard throws Morelos under the Lamborghini

Just six days after Steven Gerrard pondered if his team had the “bottle” to mount a title challenge, they were unable to overcome Aberdeen at home.  Were it not for Sam Cosgrove having an off day, all three points may have travelled north after the game.

Gerrard’s reaction was typically selfless, “We’re definitely doing something right in terms of the team organisation [trans: I’m good at my job], but I think individuals in it today let us down a bit by giving big chances away [trans: it’s the players fault].

Having absolved himself of all blame, Gerrard went on to throw Morelos under the Lamborghini, “The biggest [chances]were obviously one in the first-half, Alfredo should put Ryan Kent through on goal and the second he should have taken the chance that was presented to him with a fantastic ball by Connor.”

This is not a positive sign.  Good managers are strong enough to open themselves to criticism in order to protect their players.  This guy sounds like he has self-doubts.  Not without reason.

The weekend’s action ended in typical fashion with the champions stretching their lead to seven points, albeit having played a game more than the also-rans.

Credit to Hamilton Accies, who battled with 10-men before collapsing after the 78th minute.  Celtic were uninspiring until that point, but they are champions for a reason.  The game transformed with the arrival from the bench of Jonny Hayes, Ryan Christie and Tom Rogic.  Rogic, in particular, has patiently waited his chance.  I would start him at Fir Park on Wednesday.

  1. Ther’s guys on the bench who have been giving 100% in training. You can’t leave them out the squad for someone who isn’t. That leads to other players not really trying in traing as thay will see they don’t have to,

  2. Thanks Jobo, We are pretty close in our statistics, I’m not sure about Bayo getting 3. I think 2 of his goals have been officially listed as OG’s,

If you visit official site & click on his profile he is listed as having got just one goal.

I had French Eddie on 22,

So 2 off Bayo & 2 on to Eddie would balance the goals.

Trying to dig back info on Eddie’s goals.

  3. Just twigged that if you log on to Official Site & hit fixtures, The Stats of every game we played are right there,

Team line outs Goal Scorers for each match.

FFS If it was a dog it would have bitten me.

Now there is a bit of work in going back & hitting the Stats button for each individual game & recounting all the goals scored, don’t feel like doing it right now but might give it a go some day.

  4. Good afternoon, a good read from @paullarkin74

It came as no great shock to anyone not hard of thinking that the “Morelos Attempted Murder” story was exposed as unadulterated pish. In a country that didn’t take seriously the actual attempted murder of a football manager, you’re not going to pull the wool (or the car) over the eyes of anyone who doesn’t want it. When it transpired that it was actually a private investigator hired by Morelos wife to catch him cheating most folk thought “Can there actually be two women that daft?” I personally couldn’t give a toss if he is playing with the entire Scottish ladies fitba tesm but I am concerned that Jim Traynor still has an iron grip on a lot of journalists in Scotland.

This is a man who became Director of Communications at Sevco, got sacked with a healthy pay off, and now works freelance at Ibrox doing the communications. Not a bad gig if you can get it (C.V. requires a list of where the bodies are buried) Now his evil ways are going into overdrive to brush away any and all pressure from Slippy G and his aversion to winning league titles.

Michael Stewart bravely called it out last on Sportsound when people put such dross in the media (and let’s not forget that one Gerry McCulloch used to do it daily) it leads to maniacs on social media feeling enabled and thinking they can say things like “You are complicit in the attempted murder of Alfredo Morelos”

When that squirrel didn’t work, the next dark art from Traynor was to set up a rare interview with Morelos and then get his pals in the press to use it as an attack on Celtic supporters. That also came as no surprise to any of us.

This is exactly a time when strong leadership from Celtic is required but posted missing again. You won’t get any member of staff saying anything so bad is their fear of Lawwell that it edges closer and closer to being complicit as any criticism of leadership in there, or lack there of, sees a threat to all their freebie trips and pension plans.

Who suffers from that? Just us, the supporters, nobody important.

What should happen now is an expose of Jim Traynor and blowing the whistle on all his shenanigans but that requires brass balls and the only set I see in Scotland are the ones hanging from Morelos probable next destination.
