Joe Baker, Hargreaves, Fraser, playing to the galleries

908

Neil Lennon’s suggestion that fostering Fraser Forster from a lower-league loaner to an England international is “one of the best things [he’s] been involved with as a manager” is difficult to dispute, despite his various trophies and Champions League exploits.

Owen Hargreaves earned an England cap before he made an appearance in either of England’s top two divisions, although he was playing with European champions, Bayern Munich at the time.  Hargreaves and Lanarkshire’s Joe Baker are the only two to have been capped for England without playing in any of the country’s four leagues.  I’ve no idea if there are any others to have earned a cap without having played in the top two division but there must be precious few.

In short, Fraser’s appearance between the sticks on Friday was exceptional.  We can now help fulfil the international ambitions of English players, just as long as we continue to compete in the Champions League.

Playing to the galleries

There’s a great line in the movie, Wall St, when Martin Sheen says, “If you live long enough you get to see everything”.  Today we got to see the incredible sight of Craig Whyte’s former PR, who represented him before and during his Outstanding Contribution to Scotland, who in fact, represented him well before this, when Whyte was stalking STV as they teetered on the brink of oblivion, use Twitter to turn on another member of the Whyte coterie, for being a part of the Whyte coterie.

It reads like playing to the gallery, which the Daily Record, is a particularly useful punch bag for.  No one cares what you say about the Daily Record, so exploit a common enemy and pile on.  Tub thumping like this is embarrassing.

Puppet master

It will be interesting to see if the Record investigate who first suggested Whyte turned his attention to Rangers, after his STV ambitions ended….

maybe someone has had a word with NL suggesting the possibility of “social unrest”

Neil with his past experiences might take such a suggestive word on board.

Maybe he just simply wants his team to muller sallys team before he goes on perhaps to bigger and better challenges. hh

You are entitled to your views bud. I enjoy reading them. We will never go the way of Belfast Celtic, is my view.

  6. Delaneys Dunky,

i agree with you it wont happen maybe that is why it easy for me to say it but it is hard.

Yep you are probably right. Its somewhat comforting to know that everything bad that has happened to them was not because of anything celtic did. But because they were kinda conned by quick talkin’ conmen who just told the bears what they wanted to hear.

And, you know they havn’t heard the worst. The requisitioners from the AGM appear to be quite comfortable with the way everything is going down. I think its gonna be a really nice Whyte Christmas. hh

Great post about Big Jock and Blue Peter. Apparently Jock asked Archie McPherson how many catholics worked at the BBC. Archie replied I don’t ask people what religion they are. When Jock turned to walk away Archie said ok then none.

    A bit like Weirs Pumps.

Benefits of Commonwealth Games to Celtic continue to delight FFers:

    “Commonwealth Games spin-off for Celtic.

Temporary coach parking arrangements have been announced for Celtic supporters’ buses to enable stadium enhancements prior to the Commonwealth Games.

Upgrades will include the demolition of B listed London Road school, a new coach park which Celtic will inherit and a tree lined walkway to the stadium.

Demolition of the buildings on the school site will permit construction of a superstore, museum and cafe for Celtic Football Club.”

    ——

“It’s the start of several state-aid freebies they’re going to get from the Commonwealth sadly.”

    ——

“And to think a large section of working class Protestants vote these corrupt [chaps] into power at every council election.”

    ——

“We must continue to harass the UEFA’s of the world.”

    ——

“With a bigger help from the Protestant planks who voted RC bigots into power.

People were telling us on this forum when the CG bid were made what it was all about and the ramifications. Most refused to listen.

Look also at how the [Celts] are getting updated?

It’s not a big £10m sweep over in the one go. It is rather, a wee bit here, a wee bit there, and then when the Calvinist Somnambulist nods off yet again, and they’ll add in a wee bit more.”

    ——

“The time to wise up was 50 years ago.”

    ——

“The penny is only sinking in now”

Just remember dear working, class Rangers fan; you voted for this.

  17. gg and boscobhoy02,

Great read about the Beeb indeed, it reminded me of going for an interview at Balfour Kilpatrick in Paisley around 1977/78, a guy I knew said to me, “why are YOU going there for a job?”, I naively said that I was hoping to get an apprenticeship there after leaving school. It never happened, must have been that safari jacket that my old mother made me wear……..or maybe something else!

    The Funeral

SPL chairmen cried like babies at the funeral of deidco. They thought it was the end of their world and they wondered how they could continue living without deidco giving them money so generously. Even now they wish for a return to the days when deidco were around.

Campbell Ogilvie was at the funeral too, he was a very close friend of the deceased and he continues to be. Some of his finest moments died along with the corpse. He survives.

Charles Green organised and paid for the funeral, with someone elses money that he later got back in other ways.

David Murray did not attend. He was apparently duped about something, so he didn’t go in case he appeared foolish and folk maybe thought he had something to do with the untimely death. Which he denies.

Ticketus went to the funeral to try understand exactly who Charles Green and Craig Whyte had put in the coffin, just in case. They are still waiting for the reading of the will.

Craig Whyte however, was barred from the funeral by close friends of the deceased because the sevconians had declared him Personna Non Gratia and feel that he murdered poor deidco in cold blood.

Dr Duff and Dr Phelps were there, they had tried to save the ailing patient from a fate worse than death, but eventually just settled for death instead. They no longer practice.

HMRC were not welcome at the funeral, it was felt that they had been a party to the murder and anyway they had RC in their name. This hurt HMRC and they hope to clear their name.

Ally McCoist went to the service and he still stands by the grave to this day, He doesn’t do walking away. He occasionally robs the grave when he thinks no one is looking.

The MSM attended the funeral and took lots of photos, but got so drunk at the wake that they now forget that they were there, and can only remember more succulent times.

Reagan and Doncaster weren’t at the funeral of the deidco. Apparently, because they were too busy helping to give birth to Frankenhun. They may now regret creating that monster.

The fans of the other Scottish clubs looked in the coffin and declared “theyre deid” and then walked away satisfied that justice was done.

The Celtic fans danced and ate ice cream and Jelly at the funeral.

The huns fans declared that their messiah was not deid, and that he would rise again and that the non-believers would pay a heavy price. Now some say that the dead have risen, some say that a stone was rolled away, some say that the Frankenhun, son of the hun is not sevco, some say that the son of the hun is rangers reborn. Some believe the hun never even died.

    They talk shoite though.
