Jozo and stupid mistakes

687

Success in football often comes down to who doesn’t make mistakes at the back.  For all France’s pace on the break, it was their sheer solidity at the back which saw them through the World Cup.  England reached the semi-final, with little more than a mid-table select, but they made remarkably few mistakes, and just as importantly, understood the importance of set-pieces – don’t give them away and exploit them when you get them.

Viewed through the prism of an educational World Cup, Jozo Simunovic’s chest-high Alashkert was worthy of a red card on the basis of sheer stupidity.  It was an intolerable mistake, a relic of a former era.

That Uefa doubled his suspension to two game is no surprise.  Perhaps they have a stupidity threshold.

It’s just a pity Paul and his moderators are now in utter censorship mode,

That deletion earlier was just pathetic. I challenge the moderator to give a proper explanation for their censorship.

And for the exorcist moderator and paul67 you are never getting away with your wanton propaganda unopposed. So I look forward to more relations for increasingly tenuous reasons.

The modern world eh. Hope you feel proud.

David17 – Where they no mitigating factors in the first two games you mention? You are picking on the Griff! Admit it :-)

    ——-

Yes, I’m picking on him because i think Eddy and Moussa are better players and they are also more focused, calculating and professional. I’ve criticised Leigh in the past for playing the occasion and not the game. Some of his social media stuff annoys me and his on field behaviour, the scarf tying and nose wiping on corner flags etc would have some Celtic supporters in knots if it was Neymar. It’s childish, attention seeking and immature. See what you’ve started :)

    Goodnight all.

Surely not jealousy … if so don’t log on

I enjoy most of Neg2s posts until he/she hits the brick wall and can’t give Celtic any credit…. for me if Celtic makes you unhappy ditch it, I have never gave the board a second thought in about 40yrs of my exsistence … this place would question your whole Celtic life :-)

  5. GFTB I was a season ticket holder throughout the Hun 9 in a row. I know what pain feels like. Cltic40me jealously.what am I jealous of? Being a board puppet. Having no integrity whatsoever.

I wasn’t questioning your “season ticket” credentials I just find your posts as somebody who would rather attack our host than enjoy Celtic …

What I find strange is if you lived through those times why spend these times annoyed about when the cheats cheated instead of enjoying Celtic winning …. puzzlingCSC

  10. BMCUW @ 10:24 pm,

Well, I’m not sure what you base that on.

We are managing a team, we are managing a squad. We are improving that team, we are improving that squad.

To me, internal improvement and development i;, by any measure the way Celtic have to progress.

I don’t mean to have a pop – but I gave specific examples on how we are stronger – IMO, – You haven’t given any examples of why we are weaker .

Celtic spent a record amount on a striker, when we already have one of the best prospects in Europe.

What does that say about our ambition?

    Hail Hail

  11. GFTB because Celtic had the opportunity to change everything forever when the Hun died. Not only didn’t they take it they undermined all of the Celtic support.

And they still laughingly claim we are more than a club.

They are less than a club.

    They betrayed us.

What about the fans that just want to brag a form of the Hun… do they not count ? Is it just the “pure” Celtic fans that won’t recognise a team fae Govan but celebrate far more than 3pts against Hamilton …. the Huns cheated, lied & stole Their Majestetys taxes why the need to hurt Celtic ?

Am no the quickest, but why should Celtic do anything when the other 40 clubs have done heehaw

  13. Gerryfaethebrig on

For the Record … stiff that Sevco nonsense when my Celtic best the Huns it’s the sane Huns as before like it or lump it …. they ditched their debt and never let them forget it …. but kid yourself on if you think it’s a new Klub it’s just an embarrassment of the earlier establishment:-)

No, it’s because you’re jealous of his status, and the simple fact he’s able to do what you can’t. The sum total of your efforts of affecting the change that you’ve been telling us simple souls is necessary for the last ten years appears to be irregular posts on someone else’s blog.

I must agree with negon, throughout my time watching Celtic through the Kelly’s ,whites era to present day the Celtic board have let the support down big time.

If negon, kev, etc did not voice their opinion where would we be? Before resolution 12 our board were contented to carry on with the farse that is sevco,to this day they have done era.

Fair enough we are winning all the now to keep you happy but what if?

Back to basics said the following in relation to,the ticket allocations stuff.

“Celtic are reasonable. We want dialogue. We value the event.”

This, in my opinion, is everything that is wrong.

We value the event? This gives legitimacy to the racist claptrap that this event is. It glamorises the racism. It values the hatred. It’s just wrong.

    ====================

We are pretty much on the same page on this one . The fact is that up to 2012 sectarianism sold (Title of my contribution to Bigotry, Football and Scotland was “Sectarianism Sells or Does it”) ) but it came at a bigger price to all who peddled it. Lessons do not seem to have been learned if we go by how the media see it.

    From Twitter: (Graham Speirs)

My column in The Times tomorrow in Scotland:

    @GrahamSpiers

(Celtic’s decision) Ruins it as a spectacle. Unfair on fans. Celtic, in any case, have every conceivable advantage. We tell our kids, ‘someone goes low, you go high.’ Rangers would see sense and come round. It is Stewart Robertson MD being weak again.

    @Auldheid

    Replying to @GrahamSpiers @BraidenGB

The only people who benefit from portraying Celtic v Rangers as a “spectacle” are those who make money from doing so. It is a hate fest that brings out the worst in folk and it is crumbling built on that wrong foundation.

Sectarianism used to sell so in whose interest is it to promote what brings out the worst in all of us on both sides as a spectacle? Keevins has made a good living from those games on the “spectacle or occasion” basis. He is not alone.

  24. Gerryfaethebrig,

Celtic is incredibly Important, they dinnae put Food on the Table as ye say.

The Maestro was the very best Celt I ever witnessed.

  25. On Simunovic: The minute he got sent off last week my view was he is finished and it had nothing to do with making money but all to do with good management.

Players who are that rash (Like Effe Ambrose but in more football way) can cost the manager and the team their jobs and dampen morale.

It must be soul destroying to have knocked your pan in all week getting ready for a big game and all the hard work gets undone as a result of bad judgement.

It wasn’t a misplaced pass it was a tackle that did not need making and Jozoc is prone to too many potential match losing judgments.

The fact that his teammates were able to pull him out of potential match losing holes does not excuse him putting them there in the first place.

  26. Auldheid perhaps we are wrong about the Celtic support and they don’t care about their cheating. But that isn’t an excuse for racism and putting io with racism.
