Look under the bonnet at Killie

647

There is no outrage louder than moral outrage, so I ignored this week’s stupidity by Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnston, adding volume seemed moot, but if you look below the bonnet of this decision you’re likely to find the real story.  Kilmarnock FC is in a critical condition.

They need your money this week, probably even more than they need the goodwill of their own fans.  Mr Johnston’s most damaging folly has not been to offer Celtic fans a better deal than his own club’s supporters, it has been the failure to address the club’s financial imperative over a long number of years.  Like another club I can think of, getting cash in the door is the only game in town, as a failure to do so would bring enormous consequences.

It is the Killie fans who suffer as “Speaking as a solicitor” Johnston clings to what passes for power at a busted flush.  Don’t apologise for this week’s self-harming insult, instead be contrite about the actions which brought about the problem.

Zamparini likened Lafferty to Toni and when the media laughed ,said that Gattuso had told him he was Toni like..

Media are assuming that with Gattuso gone , Lafferty will be going in the next window .

When I first started posting, about 4 years ago, I did not realise that I would come to meet many of the posters on here in person. Both at games and golf and sometimes just a beer or a coffee.

A real pleasure to meet and socialise with so many lovely people.

You don’t know what you are missing!

    Shame that.

Celtic have another stadium display before barca game on Tuesday he same as last year! Hopefully that will spur team on to another famous victory!

  7. I can’t shake those years for Kilmarnock where they systematically deconstructed their kit to such a level it was hard to distinguish from a the strip of a team who used to play in Glasgow.

Both sent shivers up my spine. Also had a stream of managers who besides having been quoted in very ProGovan statements, used to set up in ‘McCall Modes’ (Copyright UMcG 2013) depending on which side of the Clyde a team from Glasgow played.

    Zero sympathy or concern.

We won’t forget that which they conveniently can.

  8. traditionalist88 Apparently he is an angry bitter BIG man, an ex cop and current taxi driver who is happy to scam Celtic Supporters who may be a little inebriated when they use his taxi service.

HT – I believe we’ll see more of this differential pricing in future – it already happens with airline tickets and you’ve also mentioned the West End tickets.

Celtic need to wise up to the fact that if they had offered “Kids Go Free” if they are with a paying adult, or offered tickets for a fiver on Tuesday we would have had over 40,000 – and maybe won because of that.

  13. Phyllis,

League cup games, and to a lesser extent Scottish Cup games wont attract any sizeable crowd now.

Even giving tickets away wont work.

One good guy in our office had a space and offered it around, no one took him up on it.

Celtic got the prepaid £12 on the DIRECT DEBIT scheme , but no on ewanted the free ticket.

I also asked my nephews , and a wee pal , did they want to go, kids between 10 and 16 ……….

    nope,

but if i could get them tickets for Barcelona then aye.

  14. leftclick @ 16 42 .

Lafferty’s lack of technique is obvious [ even at Serie B level ] but to be fair he has scored some goals and one of those was a beauty .. Palermo fans weren’t happy when he signed [ being from Norn Ireland etc ]

thomthethim – that interview is a ‘must read’

Thanks for postin’ the ole link

  16. Very interesting interview with David Low. Totally agree about our need to get out of Scotland. I was saddened to hear that Peter Lawell hadn’t reacted to his suggestion of inviting Fergus to unfurl the flag. He, imo, deserves it more than anyone else, especially as he was booed by those (as David correctly suggests) who read and believe the SMSM.

    Auldheid,

Your being a bit premature with that deceleration, we still don’t know if the resolution is in or out.

Parkheadcumsalford- and the depressing thing is that even now there are so many still taken in by the ole hunguffery.

And if a decent, honest and objective journalist like Jim Spence comes along they attempt to browbeat him into silence.

    parkheadcum….,

Yea, the PL bit was disturbing.

There is a more intriguing comment at the end what Low is asked about Fergus at present.

A guarded ,semi retirement, but saying no more, set me wondering.

  21. eddieinkirkmichael,

Whatever it means, it cannot be good news for the ole deadybears, I presume.

By the bye, was there trading the sevco’s shares today. I think I read earlier today that there didn’t seem to be, which would also seem to bode ill for thon deid team.

    thomthethim for Oscar OK,

I noted that comment too but felt, if he couldn’t be more explicit, it would be wrong to pry. Maybe PL knows something and maybe that is why he hasn’t responded. Hope Fergus is well. We are all indebted to the mhan.

You could well be right with respect to a reduction in ticket prices closer to an event if there some left unsold, I understand the logic in that. This would need to be included in the T&Cs prior to the event though.

I can’t agree on Celtic’s pricing policy however. I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve offered tickets, sometimes even as freebies, and I can’t get any takers. There’s an apathy towards football these days and it’s as evident at Parkhead as anywhere else.

I know that funds, rescheduling of fixtures etc all play a part but that only accounts for a percentage of absent souls.

    Hope you’re well mate.
