Atletico Madrid, happy for them? Not an easy one. I remember listening to the radio commentary the night we lost to them in the European Cup semi-final of 1974. They, and Rapid Vienna a decade later, represented very unworthy competitors in European competition.
Both teams returned to Celtic Park in recent seasons. Rapid picked up pretty much where we left them, an odious lot, but Atletico and their fans didn’t seem to bother about the past, they came and left wanting to play football.
As a boy I remember chastising old soldiers who fought the Germans during the war for their persistent aversion to modern Germans and Germany. “They are a new people, nothing to do with the 30s and 40s”, I said.
It feels a bit ridiculous holding a grudge against Atletico. Their achievement last night, and this season so far, has been fantastic. Against the most powerful foes, they might just win the hardest league in the world and the Champions League. This late in the season, that is a stunning prospect to still be on the table. They should be an inspiration to us all.
I see the media is (responsibly) alerting Celtic shareholders to the threat of a share scam apparently being perpetrated against unsuspecting fans by spivs and criminals. Where were they in December 2012?

Last night on CQN in response to a post which suggested BillyBhoy05 and others were new posters who were paid to be on CQN just to promote a YES vote. I became angry and responded stating I had been on CQN for 10yrs and gave some reasons why I was a YES.
Among these reasons was a vision for a newly nationalised energy supplier which I would fully endorse along with other Green policies. However I mentioned an article by Patrick Harvie to justify this policy.
I carried out some research and now agree with the many respondents who castigated this man for his various pronunciations and extreme views,
In mitigation I will say religion is not for me and I bypass any Catholic School and other religious debates although I am bit jealous of people who do believe. I’m for reincarnation.
I was brought up as a wee free, no play, games, noise or TV on a Sunday, most of my male relatives were masons, and I was one of the very few Celtic supporters in Lochaber. I was always and will always be of the Green tribe. My friends throughout my life were of the same ilk.
I suppose my vision for Scotland is what we presently have from Celtic, an entity which is well respected and admired the world, is all inclusive, profitable and which cares for the less fortunate but strives for excellence.

I dont know much re Norwood / Croydon but many moons ago I occasionally made the trek from Ladbroke Grove for music things at the Fairfield Halls, The Greyhound and The Blue Orchid . I have great memories of a Kraftwerk gig at the Fairfield Halls in 75. Made all the more memorable by a brief encounter with some National Front twerps on Croydon High St.
Ok proper post now after being off line for a few days and wee gingers messing with posts,a few days ago someone posted that the club has it’s reputation because of the fans not the team -Lisbon apart-and I have to say the reason we have a worldwide support is because of maley ,mcgrory Gallacher Tully tommy mcinally and all the other class acts who if we weren’t lucky enough to see we had the stories handed down to us .normally a team which has a massive support has traditionally been among the most successful in their respective countries .The two can go together ,big vocal renowned support and a successful team on the park .few,if any clubs have a bond with the support as our team do .A people and a cause, it’s not just a soundbite it’s a fact .the negativity on here at times is getting on my messerschmitts at times there’s enough ” experts” soup takers green Huns etc trying to belittle us at every turn now is our time the paupers in govan know it . This was a bit of exaggeration on CQN calling the player the racist in my opinion. For me he could be just a silly boy who probably grew up with no perfect role models in his life. Few times in my life read forums of the other teams and know that CQN is above the average standards with it’s respect for people who have different opinions. I know that Celtic community is special and my take on CQN is that it’s special above the special.
As Russians say – Moscow is not Russia. The Poles could say – Cracow is not Poland.
I mean, you can learn a lot from CQN , but it’s not whole Celtic community.
Not know them, but I guess that there are other Celtic forums where people don’t talk like you or me. These people may come on CQN and constate epressis verbis – nolens volens the forum is nihil novi, or it’s for them terra incognita and they prefer to stay where they felt well before.
If you worked as the manager all your life, been to many places in Europe, you must remember there are people who did simple works, had no chance to take as good education as yours.
I mean, I’m back to discussion about good role models in our life.
Good lesson there, Celtic must know that the guy who they want to sign is ready to be the part of this community or he is able to learn very quickly how to be the part of this life.
But.. I’m surprised Griffiths has not said the word of apology to Rudolf Skacel yet. Pity, he used good guys name for wrong culture delinquency.

Thanks for that. My apologies for giving you a hard time lately. I’m probably feeling slightly insecure at the prospect of the referendum. I feel that I have worked very hard for 40 years and am now enjoying my retirement.mi need to be reassured that my family and I won’t suffer as the result of Independence. You surely can ‘t be serious. Cyprus is rapidly turning into a Russian satellite state. The place is full of Russians and is suspected as being a conduit of Russian mafia money. Hence the reason why the EU wouldn’t bail them out. The island which you think is doing very well for itself relieved each member of it’s population of 30% of their financial resources without warning and denied them access to their bank accounts for a two week period causing great distress and hardship. I was there on holiday last year. The Cypriots themselves were lovely but they were not happy bunnies about what is happening to their beautiful island.
