Reason to enjoy Wednesday night number 67

Reason to enjoy Wednesday night number 67: Victor Wanyama didn’t get booked.

21-year-old Victor is a fabulous talent but he has also been a tad rash in his earlier Champions League outings this season.  One more yellow card will bring a suspension but his timing, and more importantly, his concentration, on Wednesday was excellent. This is a player maturing; more to come.

The 1254125 charity cycle left Lurgan this morning for Belfast port where they caught a ferry to Cairnryan. After they set wheel on Scotland they have a 37 mile cycle to Maybole, 7 miles of which is uphill, one of the most difficult parts of the endeavour.

They are people with the spirit of this club pumping through their veins right now. Check out their everyclick page for more information.

Watching Madmen series 4 at the moment, not many people have seen it. The wife and son fell away from it, but i’m still gripped. Great to see someone else like it. Dons the man…

Up to date with BB, Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead also, was thinking about dexter next, although I know the Sopranos, the Wire and the Shield come highly recommended.

I know what you are going through because my late mother suffered from Alzheimers for the last few years of her life.

    Thoughts are with you.

    Stay strong.

Yes it is an amazing video. Chap has an Ebay ad in the middle but everyone should watch it and stay with it to the end credits which simply say Thank You, Celtic. As others see us, we should be very proud. Watch this video folks.

Thanks for the comments, although it may not appear so, I do not watch much telly!! Usually catch up on box sets when working away from home. Homeland is the exception, and in my opinion is about to crash and burn, the recent gaping storyline holes and credibility gaps are worse for me than the exaggerated performances.

I use the Soprano`s as the benchmark followed by the Wire , I would also shout out for Band of Brothers from about 10 years ago, Damian Lewis played a great part in that.

Will give BB the first few episodes then judge, as soon as Big Tess has srted out they ” joodgies”

Lost my mum in 2009 in similar circumstances. It’s a truly horrible illness.

  6. Anyone any ideas what the best option is for a green piece of plastic, hardly used?

How much would it cost to get it framed?

  7. Vmhan – I am no longer a religious man but I believe your father’s presence at Celtic Park will be felt there for many years to come. Through your attendance he is there. It’s the way it is.

Stay strong and good luck mate.

BB starts slow, a few people have fell away after watching the first 2-3, watch the whole first series, you will be gripped. It gets better and better.

    As Nike says..

    Just do it.

  9. Vmhan – take heart in all those great memories. You’re an important part of the fabric of this Dear Green Place.

  10. Evening folks,

Spent many happy hours since Wednesday reading posts about the game and many amusing and joyous tales of the fans celebrations both at the match and elsewhere.

Hope you don’t mind me sharing mine’s from Wednesday.

I am normally at the game or in the pub watching the game, but for various reasons watched the game at my parents house, Father in his 80’s and mother 80 next year. We have a big extended family, but for one reason or another just the three of us there. I’ve read many posts on this fine site about folks remembing their dearly departed.

And I was thinking of you guys especially when I was looking back to Wednesday. A quiet couple of hours spending time with the old folks.

Aye right! They are as passionate now as they ever were about watching Celtic. My old man compares every Celtic manager to Big Jock, so you can imagine the scrutiny that our young manager comes under. Mother loves the Celtic, but like a lot of ladies does not quite grasp the more complex tactical side of the game.

As we sat there on Wednesday, there was Mother shouting “Kick him” or “Kick the ball away” or “tackle him” or “get the ball off him” whilst my old man gave me a knowing look.

Then discussing tactics with the old man, game starts and wtf. What are the full backs doing, look at the space we are giving them once the ball is played back inside. Then the realisation of the game plan. To try to squeze them inside and outnumber them in the middle.

Then, goal, one nil. Yes, three of us give a wee cheer, but still lots to time to go and of course in the backs of our minds the last game away to them.

Half time comes and goes. I have the discussion with father that I fear if Barca change their usual game plan and go down the wings we could be in trouble. But old man assures me that they will not change their game plan. (He loves Spanish football and watches every weekend on Sky.)

Game continues, usual discussion, come on Neil, put on subs, the guys are tiring. Then the second goal goes in. As young Watt races through on goal I am off the couch, practically next to the TV screen kicking the ball with Tony. Yeeeeeeeeeesss it’s a goal. Old mother who has been to the doctor the day before because of a sore knee is beside me embracing me and we are having a wee daft dance. And the old man is sitting with his hands above his head, clapping like he is at the game and the biggest smile on his face.

They score and the last four minutes are absolutely nerve shattering. But the final whistle blows and we all cheer.

I’ve been “Parkheid” for some glorious European nights. Followed Celtic home and away in Scotland for many years, and been to cup finals as well.

But sometime in the future I will look back on Wednesday and it will be up there with all of them.

@Betfred As a Rangers fan I’m disgusted with your use of the word Newco in one of your shops.I have closed my account as will all my family

    why is this guy disgusted?

    You can’t handle the truth

  15. Football manager translations:

“Go out there and express yourself.”

    =

“Enjoy prancing about with a ball for 10 mins before you and your lousy teammates get stuffed 5-0 by superior opposition.”
