Rogic’s next contract

929

Tom Rogic is well within his rights to take time to consider his next contract.  He is thriving at Celtic, but with a year left on his current deal, the future is open.  Front and centre of his mind, of all players’ minds, will be the dirty little subject.  The money paid to lesser talents than Tom in England is incredible, Tom is well within his rights to ponder his position in the food chain.

Then there is his place in the Celtic squad.  Brendan Rodgers is continually looking to improve the team.  It doesn’t matter who you are, you cannot be sure of a place well into the future.

There are also reasons to consider why Celtic might be a good fit for him.  He is not the archetypal English Premier League player, all physique and running.  Tom is a throwback to not so long ago when craft on the ball got you into the team, not the ability to burst a lung for 90 minutes.  All too often, he’s a 60 minute star.

Evidence is everywhere that he is a big game player and proven match winner, but he is not going to temp a title chasing team from England, instead it would be the bottom half battlers who are most likely to be interested in him.  He’s not a natural fit.  Better to stay with the champions.

  1. Thank You for the reply Auldheid, I will post any reply I get from JPT with his approval of course. There were no letters sent or advance notice to anyone as far as I am aware and how this sold out so quickly with the numbers concerned has me intrigued. Only mainstream media guess of allocation until I get the real numbers, 22,000 allocation in the press ….I was told yesterday that 22,500 on HCTS qualify therefore not enough for everyone, and they were all gone in one afternoon hmmm, myself and my 3 friends who have not missed a match seem to be very unfortunate to be in this unlucky 500.

Well done to yourself on all the Res 12 work sir, Yir a star.

He is 21 now and still gets ID’d everywhere.

Looks like is playing very defensive today to keep an eye on the ICT right winger Mulraney. So far so good for the Sons.

  3. Id say Scotland are fortunate to have 2 excellent players vying for the same spot.

Id also say that it could be worth playing both of them at the same time out on that left side and it wouldn’t particularly matter whether it was KT at left back and AR was in front of him or visa versa. Both can defend well, are very good going forward and have a good level of fitness to work up and down that wing, so why not play them both?

I believe they could naturally have a very good understanding from playing a similar game and could switch roles allowing the other to overlap/drop back as is necessary.

They are both excellent young players so why not give them a run of games to see if they can develop a good partnership?

Pity you never got a bet on for first yellow for Chris. Bad tackle he just made. As you know, he is a powerful bhoy. ;)

I’m not sure just how much of an alignment exists between Celtic’s IT systems and Customer needs but there should be a strategy to identify gaps or areas for improvement and put systems in place to meet. If not IT ones, then paper ones until IT meets the needs.

Someone brought that very issue up the last Forum meeting. The response from the Celtic media rep was that they had found from experience that ‘older’ people are as tech savvy as their younger equivalents. The ideas put forward by Celtic were to put more and more content and communications online. I haven’t seen the minutes yet to see what the action taken was if any. The next meeting is next month, i’m sure it will come up again.

As Vale Bhoy said, only one team trying to play fitba. Robbo’s tactics shocking.

  10. KT is a better player than AR because he can defend as well as attack. As good as AR’s can be he has tendancy to allow players to run off him very easily oh and he is 25 so KT has more room for improvement. AR throws the ball into decent areas from wide whereas KT tend to try to pick the players out. Again i prefer the later.

Biggest issue is AR cant move in one because defending is weakest part of his game.

KT is wasted if push in one, best solution is to play 4-5-1 with KT at left back and robertson one up. With any luck you get two quality players playing in fimiliar territory.

Should be one of the easiest decisions to make ffs

Ffs sorry wee Hun John Robertson. Doh!

  12. A couple of posters asked about the attendance last night. I was interested too so went on to official ftSFA site.

Apparently 20,488 chaps and chapesses were at Hundump last night to watch EBT McLeish’s team fail to match a central American country (with a population under 5 million) who had qualified for the World Cup.

Looked a lot less than that on the ole telly!

  13. Scotland u/19s leading 1.0 against Netherlands u/19s.

    Jack Aitchison the scorer. :-)

    Really pleased for him.

    Hail Hail

  14. AR just turned 24 this month so it hardly makes him too old to learn……..but i do agree that, being only 20, KT has even more potential to develop his game.

So is that your way of saying that you agree with me……to a certain extent……ffs :)

  15. Re: Hampden Tickets

My daughter and I are both HCTS members and attended the 3 qualifying games allowing us to purchase tickets for the Cup Semi. I usually buy tickets online.

I also usually have no bother using this method to obtain tickets. However, the method of selecting tickets and the ‘seating map of the ground’ appeared to have changed for this game. I have had a career IT and found this new ‘user interface’ absolutely frustrating!

Despite seeing seats available for selection in various areas of the ground, actually ‘selecting’ the seat I wanted, I was immediately told that the seat wasn’t available! Even selecting the ‘Find a Seat’ option and selecting ‘All’ from the areas available, I was still told that I couldn’t select a seat!.

I eventially started messing around with the ‘Price Band’ options and got 2 two seats allocated to me. The strange thing is there are 3/4 options available under the ‘Price Band’ options e.g. B,C,D. Yet they are all The same price, £30. What’s the point in this? Especially when it effectively restricts what seats are open to you.

Happy I’ve got 2 tickets but totally sympathise with those guys who missed out are pissed off.

Had a wee visit to Sevcochik TV to see how the Legneds were doing.

    What a beautiful scene.

One team in traditional Hun tops, the other, totally clad in clementine, playing in front of what I estimated as 7-10 k

Not a tax payer in sight.

    The commentary was unintentionally hilarious.

Commentator Tom even parodying the, “Whits the keeper daein’ “, line.

Best of all was former goal machine, Derek Parelane, announcing in reverent tones that,” not one person has left their seats to go home early”.

How could he tell, the place was full of empty seats(?).

Early exits must be the norm.

I’ve never worked in the likes of the ticket office,a place where you are let down by your employer and left to face the music.

I’ve only once gone there,in fact. About two years ago, when I was home on holiday. Spent all day trying to get an extra few tickets for a nothing game, but the system crashed.

Furious inside, and fearful too-because I knew my sister wouldn’t believe me,and would have a right go at me for spending all day in the pub! Just gave them my phone number, asked them to give me an update please, hoped for the best.

Problems like that are not the problem of the staff. How they deal with it is. And that is where they seem to let things down too frequently.

  21. Just looking at the results from last nights matches, I see Columbia managed to see off France in Paris without the services of ‘in form’ Alfredo Morelos. Quite an achievement.
