Scott Allan wraps the green flag round himself

Scott Allan was whisked away from Dundee United as a 19-year-old with only four starts under his belt. At the time there was a great deal of annoyance that a promising Scottish talent was lost to our game almost before he started.

West Brom harvested him, but never gave him a game. He went on loan to Portsmouth (15 starts), MK Dons (2 starts) and Birmingham (another 2 starts), before transferring to Hibernian last summer. Performances for Hibs made him a standout for those who follow lower league football; Player of the Year material.

The most striking part of this deal is the cost, a reported £275k, plus Dylan McGeough, who Hibs had on loan last season and who was unlikely to ever force himself into contention at Celtic. It’s cheap. A cheap signing for Celtic, a cheap player for Hibs to sell. Gone are the days of £4m midfield players moving from Easter Road to Celtic. The price was determined by the competition (there is only one team in Scotland who can put anything like that kind of money down on a player. HP deals have limited appeal).

What he is to Ronny Deila, is a canvas.   Scott will go through the most intense few months of his career, starting Monday morning. He will get his opportunity to show what he can do. Every conceivable performance metric will be measured. And the measurements will improve.

Can’t wait to see him in a Celtic shirt, I’ve heard so much about how good he is for months……..

    Alfie Alfie Alfie Alfie Alfie Conn scored a massive goal for us in the 10 men won the league season vs Aberdeen. For that alone I will always be grateful to him.

     

     

    3rd March at home and we were 8th out of 10 in league with games in hand and hadn’t played in nearly 2 months. A vital only goal of the game for a pretty poor Celtic team crystallised our efforts and we went on a crazy run losing only 1 game I think before the famous 4 – 2 game.

    Just been checking tonight’s Euromillions and see someone from uk has won £28,595,278.40 Hopefully it’s a guid Celtic Bhoy or Ghirl pictured in The Hoops enjoying a champain cheque presentation sometime next week. Ah think that and a guid solid win over Malmo and the possibility of six prestige CL matches & a £20 million jackpot would really drive the sad, sorry and sick sevconians over the edge. Aye it’s guid fun watching their pain. Massive match looming on Wednesday. It’s gonna be tense, but just guid to be involved and hopefully get desired result..

    That’s nice to know re Alfie Conn, I come from a sporting family of 5 bhoys boxers footballers all badminton darts snooker , it didn’t matter what team we played for as soon as you crossed the line you done your best to win . I’m sure Scott Allen as a pro will do the same for us.

    Let’s hope we can continue a good month with a convincing win against my least favourite team ICT, then Dundee Utd and St Johnstone – and of course in between secure the little matter of a CL group place by defeating Malmo – THIS IS A BIG MONTH!!!!!!
