Scouted, background checked and experienced, Ajeti should succeed

872

Negotiations for Albian Ajeti have gone on for weeks but as you and I have said often enough, it is important to get your first choice.  Too often we end up with a player from well down the list, who did not do enough to overwhelmingly convince anyone.  That is not the case with Ablian.

The player was scouted for a move last year before his ill-fated time in London.  He is known to the manager, who will have sounded out Mohamed Elyounoussi for an assurance on things that are not evident from the stands.

Having played over 170 games, he is also more experienced than many we have signed over the last decade.  This is why we missed out on him a year ago, he was caught on the EPL radars and West Ham made what was for them a cheap acquisition.

These factors make Albian’s prospect of succeeding at Celtic higher than most recruits.  It is a pity he will not have some game time this weekend; let’s hope he is fit for this month’s challenges.

Thanks for the reply. but surely quarantine is not an SFA/SPFL rule?

    Turkeybhoy

I agree. I have asked many supporters the same question but have not heard any answer that made sense.

Also, why have Kilmarnock not had any games postponed seeing as Bolingoli mixed with them?

  2. HOT SMOKED on 15TH AUGUST 2020 2:13 PM

    Genuine question:

What SFA/SFPL rule did Bolingoli break?

They’ve been charged for alleged breaches of Rule 24 …

shall comply with the Articles, the Laws of the Game and the rules, procedures and regulations, bye-laws and Decisions of the Scottish FA

    … and Rule 71….

No.. player … shall bring the game into disrepute.

The hearing is set for 28th August

For the clubs, there is no date set or SPFL / SFA rules quoted …

Following investigation, the SPFL has opened separate disciplinary proceedings against each of Aberdeen FC and Celtic FC for alleged breaches of the SPFL’s Covid-19 – Requirements and Testing Regulation.

There will be no further comment pending the outcome of these disciplinary proceedings.

Will be very interesting to find out which part of the Covid-19 regulations we have breached when we have been at the forefront of instigating strict protocols across the club, in concert with the Government and Football bodies , including purchasing our own testing apparatus ?

TurkeyBhoy, you are not doing enough Task’s for the Mrs, you know what they

say, about the fickelled other half, & their task’s never being completed.

Also, why have Kilmarnock not had any games postponed seeing as Bolingoli mixed with them?

Because Mr Silly MBomboclotty is not one of their playing staff, & also Mr Silly MBomboclotty,

passed the Covid19 Tester Check, so it did not effect the Kilmarnock players & backroom staff.

  6. Happy Birthday Mr Fallon….I call him mister because he gave me a disapproving look last time I was in his

    company….Can’t think why ? :O)))))))) hh

  7. The alleged football offences contravened are what exactly? Not the “not acting in best interests”, or: “bringing the game into disrepute “? There needs to have been some defined rules to have been contravened in the first place – and there are not up to now. These are civil matters, not football matters and the concerned parties have been/will be penalised by their clubs and the police (Bolingoli). There cannot be any question of double jeopardy.

  8. Embramike

    Thanks for that.

As Turkeybhoy said, what rule did Celtic and Aberdeen break?

  9. To me the Government have told the SFA and the SPFL do these clubs under your rules for something this is the result, players may face suspensions and the SPFL have deferred as they dont have any rules that have been broken, a political decision forcing football to act and as usual their rules arent fit for purpose.

Until the SFA and the SPFL is disbanded the shambles we see will continue, they are total amateurs and seem to be corrupt and incapable of running the game.

  10. Bhoyjoebelfast on

Happy birthday and best wishes to Mr.John Fallon.Happy memories of the 1965 cup final,3-2 over D’line and me as an excited young fan with my late father and members of the Barleycorn Celtic SC Belfast. Not forgetting John on the crossbar as the trophy famine was over.

  11. TURKEYBHOY on 15TH AUGUST 2020 2:25 PM

    AKBW,

Fair enough about Boli. What rules did Celtic break to be punished.

TurkeyBhoy, Celtic can not be held accountable for Bolingoli’s Karma

    outside their employment hours.

If the stupid SFA are trying to pull a stroke, then it should be challenged,

    by whatever means necessary.

  12. Signed for Celtic the year I was born and the first keeper I remember.

I’ll never forget St. Andrews day 1968 at Easter road – What a save.

From Parkview to Parkhead and onto Lisbon – Happy 80th Birthday Mr. Fallon

    Have a great day sir.

  13. Happy Birthday , John. Missing our chats in the lounge. Hope it is not too long till we catch up. Have a great day and stay safe.

  15. I got a lift back home from Perth to Dunblane in Mr Fallon’s car.

  16. To SFTB FR12& OK @ 13:42

Agree with all you say, with just the one caveat on your opening paragraph. The dentist & the Stirling Uni SNP voter definitely did not not ‘start the ball rolling’ on the situation that has brought a hiatus to Celtic’s season. The plan was hatched higher up the chain, formulated by the SPADS who organise the daily SNP Party Political Broadcast, and delivered word perfect with strategically placed game references, yellow & red cards, by Sturgeon.

The reason and timing were crystal clear. A diversion had to be sought to deflect from Swinney’s latest & most damaging ‘dog’s breakfast’ and football, especially anything negative about Celtic, is always a headline-grabber in Scotland. The motive is transparent – the result effective.

The follow-up by the football authorities has been ‘suggested’ by Bute House to dilute the outright political nature of what has transpired.

Celtic, nor Aberdeen for that matter, have done anything wrong and yet are suffering serious consequences – the actions of the players involved were selfish & stupid, and may, if they have broken any SFA/SPFL rule, be worthy of sanction.

Deathly silence & what appears to be a media blackout seems to have descended over the early happenings at Murray Park, which if confirmed, are infinitely more serious.

Make no mistake about it, this is political attempt to force the football authorities to impose strict liability on clubs by the back-door.

If our supporters are not worried by this then they must be stupid and/or rabid SNP voters.

I all my eighty years, this is the first time I have heard of a political party indulging in cronyism,

  18. With regards to Shane Duffy. I can’t say I’ve seen much of him ,but he has a good few Republic caps ,he seems to be a tough guy .much needed in the team, no very much needed in the team . Get him in and then get our scouts looking for a big tough left back ( do we still have scouts going by some of the wee average players we sign ) get elhammed in at right back ,keep wee totty frimpong well away from the defence .outside right is the place for him .Will also give forrest the kick up the kyber he needs , give soro a wee try as well , we waste so much money on duds . i sometimes feel to much favoritism is shown to some of our players , the new guy I haven’t seen ,eddy fantastic .but defence is a serious issue ,that needs addressed , have a look across the city ,they have tooled up with big bruisers who will be too tough for the wee boys we continually play . If we don’t combat them we lose the 10 .

  19. JHB

You are winning no hearts or minds with an appeal of “you must be stupid” to vote SNP.

The people who provided th eopportunity for distraction were 8 Aberdeen players and a Celt. The SNP have no particular down on any particular football club but welcomed, yet again, the chance to use football as a rival “water cooler conversation” hot topic. The SFA and the SPFL had to respond to the pressure brought to them by the Scottish Government as they wanted to avoid a total cessation of football. The cancellation of games involving the clubs that own the errant players was seen as a minimal expected response to the threat of having football stopped. The charging of the clubs, under badly speciiied terms, was an appraoach taken by the football authorities themselves. I am fairly sure that the SNP did not specify this had to happen. They are happy enough if they put football on the back foot.

So far, their appraoch has worked. In the Divide & Rule world of Scottish Football, the fans of other clubs are happy to see any club other than themselves , sanctioned. Hearts fans are roundly condemning Celtic & Aberdeen for getting their training stopped (another unnecessary step required for political posturing rather than “driven by science”.

But, in the end, the approach is working for them. The popiulation now believes the SNP had to do something about football because of the publicity around 9 dafties. Even some of our own feel the SNP were justified because they have stated that Independence is more important than 10iar to them.

But the SNP have always got the excuse of the accomplished intimidator i.e. “We never told them to do that particular thing, we just told them to sort themselves out!”

“We did not order the hit, we just let it be widely known that we were disappointed with them.”

  20. With regards to Shane Duffy. I can’t say I’ve seen much of him ,but he has a good few Republic caps ,he seems to be a tough guy .much needed in the team, no very much needed in the team . Get him in and then get our scouts looking for a big tough left back ( do we still have scouts going by some of the wee average players we sign ) get elhammed in at right back ,keep wee totty frimpong well away from the defence .outside right is the place for him .Will also give forrest the kick up the kyber he needs , give soro a wee try as well we won’t know what he is like if we dont give him a go , we waste so much money on duds . But i sometimes feel to much favoritism is shown to some of our players , the new guy I haven’t seen ,eddy fantastic .but defence is a serious issue ,that needs addressed , have a look across the city ,they have tooled up with big bruisers who will be too tough for the wee boys we continually play . 21. Duffy is a step up from the likes of McKenna who we’ve been linked with for a while. Duffy would be our best CB if we signed him and would instantly become our leader at the back. Jullien and Ajer would benefit greatly from that imo. Neither strike me as being comfortable being the dominant CB.

  22. HI GHUYS, as regards the snp, remember my father telling me the snp stood for strictly no papes, now that was when i was about 12 im 67 now so its over 50 years ago things might have changed up there, i live in cheshire now but my father was from croy the original holy village, no orange bassas went thru there, so maybe that tainted his image of the snp, he died from lung disease after working down the pit in cardowan and bedlay colleries at age 53, but that was the only employment you could get then, any employer would wince if you said you came from croy, but he brought 5 of us up and worked his socks off for us kids, still think of him every day,53 is still A young age to die,H,H,

Not sure who (or what) a McGlashan is, nor do i know who ‘my own’ are that i should be ‘monitoring’. I was questioning the seemingly arbitrary decision to delete a post for no reason, other than it challenged the need for name-calling and mis-information posts by those who vocally back Westminster & the union on this site.

Pauls site, Pauls rules, i get it. But deletions just because you dont agree with his politics?

  24. Cooled off,and 3 big Gins later,I don’t really believe the latest guff is coming from the SNP,rather our blundering, idiotic football governing body.I will be astonished if anything comes of it.We do not have strict liability in Scotland.I don’t give a monkeys what happens to Boli, but both cl.ubs are totally innocent in this.

A lot of this is coming from the moronic mouthpiece,Kris Boyd.Media only too willing to give him the platform he craves to attack Celtic.Been going on and on,keeping the pot boiling. You will hear him rehash it all tomorrow on Sky,before Hun game.

  25. The SNP have little to do with this. We need to get our side sorted. Jason leitch is a decent guy &,for me, honest enough.

Forget shite pllitics. Once labour actually get policies that .ake sense then Leonard is piss..in the wind.

  26. Best wishes to Lisbon Lion John Fallon on his 80th birthday!

  27. SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX on 15TH AUGUST 2020 1:42 PM

It isn’t Jason Leitch or Prof. Priestley who leaned on the SFA and SPFL to institute show trials on Celtic & Aberdeen.

    ______________________

Who knows whether Leitch and Priestley initiated the proceedings? Equally unclear is the SG’s role in the indictments.
