Scouted, background checked and experienced, Ajeti should succeed

872

Negotiations for Albian Ajeti have gone on for weeks but as you and I have said often enough, it is important to get your first choice.  Too often we end up with a player from well down the list, who did not do enough to overwhelmingly convince anyone.  That is not the case with Ablian.

The player was scouted for a move last year before his ill-fated time in London.  He is known to the manager, who will have sounded out Mohamed Elyounoussi for an assurance on things that are not evident from the stands.

Having played over 170 games, he is also more experienced than many we have signed over the last decade.  This is why we missed out on him a year ago, he was caught on the EPL radars and West Ham made what was for them a cheap acquisition.

These factors make Albian’s prospect of succeeding at Celtic higher than most recruits.  It is a pity he will not have some game time this weekend; let’s hope he is fit for this month’s challenges.

Leitch is an SNP dentist. That’s why he got the gig rather than a qualified epidemiologist. He is loving his day in the sun. With the SNP, a party hack always preference . Just like the unknown Prof. Priestley who will head up the whitewash/review into the exams fiasco.

  2. Shane Duffy will be an expensive loan option but hte stakes are high.

Failure to win 10 iar will end the Celtic careers of the CEO, the manager, several backroom staff and a fair section of the players.

Thankfully, we are one of the few clubs with resources to consider buying and the defence certainly needs strengthening. At the moment Ajer & Jullien are automatic picks when fit. We need a couple of options to keep them on their toes.

If we end up with Edouard, Ajeti & Toney as options, I think we have improved the striking options. If we lose Eddy, that will not be so.

  4. Plus…

Since 2016 Griff’s contribution goalwise has declined – 6 and 11 in last 2 seasons.

James ‘always missing’ Forrest has contributed 17 and 16.

No place for sentiment, those are not stats for a Celtic forward.

How much to buy,Big Shane? If we did take him on loan for a year, its just kicking the problem down the road.If correct,2 million far too steep for a loan.Someone enlighten me,is that wages included? Not up to speed on this.Does he want to come permanent,or is he another diehard, that would rather have the money.

Good point TurkeyBhoy, the additional 2Mil will probably be, to make up his wage cut.

The Bottom line here, is that their are too many football players in England, on ridiculous wage packets.

Ffs, we now find it hard to compete, with players in England, who play in the old 3rd/4th & probably

the 5th Divisions wage packets, & that is a fact.

I’ve seen Sean Duffy, play for the Republic of Ireland, yes, he is not a bad Defender, however he is

not an outstanding defender either. He is also 28 years of age, which is getting on, nowadays in

present day modern football, how much does Brighton want to make the move pernament?

If they are looking for over five million plus, then forget it. would you pay 10 Million plus, say

for an average defender who is 28 years of age? Football players, who want to apply the craft

in Scotland, have to take a reality check, they are not going to get paid, the same amount of

money they get in England, which is a fact.

  7. It isn’t Jason Leitch or Prof. Priestley who leaned on the SFA and SPFL to institute show trials on Celtic & Aberdeen.

Those 2 guys have their own issues to address but they are not responsible for the actions against our club.

We need to target our enemies and not just hit out in every direction.

Football is a safe target for the snobs that run the country.

I am willing to bet my imminent pension that there have been Scottish Government Ministers who have failed to, observe strict social distancing guidelines, social bubble regulations, making trips that were not strictly necesary, visiting several retail outfits when shopping, and travelling more than necessary. There will be heads of industry and shop floor workers likewise who have agreed to meet socially in numbers that were not permitted.

I have no sympathy for what Bolingoli did, I consider it both selfish and stupid, and limited sympathy for the Dons players. But, let’s get real, they were the tip of an Iceberg who were conveniently caught.

Nobody would close the fishing industry ot ICI if it had happened with a boat crew or some chemists but football is fair game.

JNP is right , footballers in Scotland are not as advantaged as we think Outwith CP and Ibrox, few will be paid above a couple of thousand a week. Yes, the Premiership will see many players with above average wages but what do you think the young squad at Hamilton have as a weekly wage?

We need to stand up for football, even with the idiocy of 1 Celtic player and the carelessness of 8 Aberden footballers.

  8. The decision to let Simunivic go, I would imagine was probably made long before he was actually released, which was in May. Nearly 3 months later we still don’t have a replacement.

As far as Griffiths being a proven goalscorer. He can only score of he is playing. I think it’s time to move him on, if anyone will take him

  9. Duffy is an EPL experienced CB in his prime. He’d be a great addition to our defence.

If we sign Duffy it’s a clear statement about levels – we sign a CB with 3 EPL clubs after him and they go for a Wigan journeyman on a Bosman.

We get Duffy signed up and get back to winning football games then hopefully we can forget about Boli and look forward to a great season.

  10. BIG WAVY on 15TH AUGUST 2020 1:28 PM

    AKBW1888

Hayes was Mr Utility man personified. Our season won’t rest on him being in the squad. Griffiths, unless you’ve noticed, is nowhere to be seen. No bloody use to us in that case.

Big Wavy Johnny Hayes has gone, I liked him because he is one of us, & he done what was asked of

him to do, & he was not a bad utility player as you say, however we @ present, still need more cover

in the void which he filled in the recent past & now on the left side as well due to Mr Stupid MBomboclotty

Karma. So more solid & appropriate Defenders is a Must, on our things to do list.

As for LG, if LG is really messing our Club around, then yes by all means let him depart.

However, if it’s really genuine with LG, & he wants to stay, & fight for a place in the first team?

Then we should, hang onto him.

After all, he is a proven goal scorer, & has scored important goals for us in the past.

  11. Just to update you on the cricket and to demonstrate that I don’t actually know that much.

Pakistan are in their overnight score of 223 for 9 with start delayed due to rain. Couldn’t understand that as it is a really hot sunny day here in North Wales only 40 miles from Manchester.

I then realised the game is being played at the other venue in Southampton some 220 miles away.

  12. DAVID66 on 15TH AUGUST 2020 1:47 PM

    Get Shane Duffy in now.

He is a monster of a player.

    D :)

How much for? We are not going to be held to ransom, for a 28 year old who

is now surplus to requirement, @ Seaguls FC, & also said party is got to

understand, that he is coming to Scottish Footy, which does not have loads

of money to burn, like English Footy does via Sly TV payments.

  13. Thanks for the response on Duffy.I have to agree with the poster, yes,he is a decent defender, but not a great one,but do we really need,or could we afford,a great one.As SFTBs said, this season is all important. We must get someone in.Just on the LB position, when El Hamed signed,he said he was comfortable RB,LB,CH so that could be an option.

Reading a Leeds U blog, they were saying that Barry Douglas is a very good LB,and that Leeds should hold onto him. They did say he was on 10 grand a week, which would suit PL.On the downside,I saw that his injury record recently was poor.

    What to do,eh.

  14. Happy Birthday, John Fallon, a True Celt.

( From a CQN Corner Bhoy who always received a responding nod from you and Charlie G ).

Birthday wishes to John Fallon – 80 years young today.

    Have a great day.

Here-Here Gene, & Many happy returns John Fallon.

Roll on, when we are all allowed back to watch our Club Live @ CP.

By the way JF, JW will be looking for you again, hopefully soon.

  16. Jason Lietch singing straight-out of the WHO song-sheet.

At the start of this covid thing he sounded very nervous .

It sounded like ” Oh shit they’ve really gone and done it. “

  17. Anyway,c mon the Hibees today.Funny thing,I posted last week that the BEEB,had us joint top with Hibees,Huns, after 1st game.Lo and behold,Huns are now top of the league.

  18. I read earlier that some CQNrs were hoping to encourage new and returning lurkers to start posting to stimulate discussion and welcome differing views.

Just wanted to check if Paul and his appointed mods will be deleting all posts that call out the increase in childish name-calling and Trump-like manipulation of facts from the pro-union, pro-Westminster clique on here?

  19. Shane Duffy is exactly what we need, big tough & brave,

He gives absolutely everything on the field.

I cannot over emphasise how much I want him in the Celtic shirt.

Yes he is a Fenian, from Derry just like McClean and a genuine life long Celtic Supporter and all that background stuff helps but that is not the reason I want him t Celtic.

I have watched him numerous times playing for the Republic against superior teams when our defense was under relentless pressure.

He wasn’t good, he was heroic.

    Pedro sign Shane Duffy Please.

  20. Hate politics on here, but I must say,Wee Nic fairly handed the odious Ruth Davidson, her ass on a plate the other day at FMQT.Absolutely phenomenal response.

Avoid injury prone defender players, & look else where.

We need to cast out our net more Globally, & do more thorough research, on Defenders

which we can afford. No over paid prema-donnas, that is for sure.

  22. hairlikespaghetti

How about we monitor our own?

As someone who is not in favour of imposing further austerity on my compatriots in Scotland, I did not vote Yes and I am unlikely to do so in any imminent referendum.

I found some of the posts in the past few days very reminiscent of the “False Flag” posters we had back in 2013/14. Their arguments against the SNP were OTT, contained a dash of misogyny, and were designed to get backs up rather than win hearts and minds. I have no compunction in calling them out as being unhelpful to the cause of reasonable debate.

Now, if you could tackle some of the McGlashans on your side……

  23. HOT SMOKED,

More to the point, what rule did Celtic,Aberdeen break.

I said earlier, one Celtic blog was saying Celtic are furious, saying they would take it the full road.

What SFA/SFPL rule did Bolingoli break?

I said earlier, one Celtic blog was saying Celtic are furious, saying they would take it the full road.

Aberdeen, broke social distancing rules, & having a social get together after a match, which is

a ridiculous rule that only applies to Sportsmen.

Mr MBomboclotty, broke the self isolating present rule, after visiting a Country which is on the UK

Quarantine List, so therefore MBomboclotty has to be Toast.
