Souness: loan was for work, makes interesting dates claim

496

Graeme Souness today told a Daily Record reporter that he received his EBT LOAN from Rangers because:

“I was doing work for Rangers.

“I was in between jobs. I was going to scout for Glasgow Rangers at that time”.

Payment in return for “doing work” is what this whole business is all about. Payment for “doing work” is taxable. It cannot be remunerated via a non-repayable loan.

Mr Souness was manager of Blackburn Rovers from 14 March 2000 until 6 September 2004.

As Blackburn manager, he signed Tugay from Rangers on 17 May 2001. He requested £30,000 from the Rangers EBT scheme five weeks later.

“In between jobs” Really? These dates make that an interesting claim.

Hitler’s rise was fueled by the feeling of injustice in Germany

I blame The Treaty of Versailles more so.

    ==================================================

Not much doubt about how much the injustice of Versailles contributed to the rise of Hitler .

The German people didn`t want war. ( Like poor old Chamberlain )

However , Hitler was preparing for war from the moment he took power in `33. ( Ref. Mein Kampf )

Long before the Spanish Civil War `36 .

Nothing would have deviated him from his Messianic cause.

For him, communism was the real enemy.

  16. JJHS,

all this talk about the Irish turf laid at Celtic Park; I think you are trying to start some kind of crazy turf war on the blog!

What purpose does trying to wind up others serve? :-)

As for the fixtures, I’m disappointed to hear there is no Celtic match on Saturday 7th May, as it would be 50 years to the day that we won the first of 9 in a row (you know, the untainted ones) with a 1-0 victory at Fir Park.

I couldn’t make the match that day as I was too busy being a newborn, in the Belvedere!

  17. “Why do we have to play on the Sunday to avoid the aloa V Sevco game, why don’t they play on the Sunday?”

    Tony,

I’m guessing it was simpler not to move the fixture that was already ‘out there’ for one that hadn’t been announced yet.

  18. If the sheep win as many points as us in the first two game we can win the league against them at Celtic Park. A draw would do.

If Aberdeen drop points at St Johnstone we can win the league at Tynecastle with two wins v Ross Co and Hearts.

If Aberdeen beat St Johnstone, we beat Ross County and Hearts, we can win the league later that afternoon if Aberdeen drop points at home to Motherwell and thus Aberdeen form a guard of honour at Celtic Park for us.*

*clearly optional as the huns (RIP) didn’t.

If Aberdeen lose to St Johnstone and win v Motherwell, and we win v Ross County and draw with Hearts we’ll have won the league by virtue of goal difference when they come to Celtic Park and we could lose all three remaining matches and win the league on the last day off the back of three straight defeats. Now there’s a scenario not worth considering.

I think we’ll win v Ross Co and draw with Hearts and Aberdeen will drop points in both their games, handing us the league at 5pm, a couple of hours after our game’s finished at Tynecastle.

  19. I watched that Souness video interview again,it stinks, somethings going on there, who ever it was asking the questions hadent a clue about the subject? Souness asked him who got the highest money, and he said ..I don’t know? Had he known what he was talking about it might have been a better story, probably why they got him to ask the questions?

  20. SoT,

I think it was you who recommended the Wayfaring Stranger – Cosmic American Music compilation. I have it, as of yesterday, and despite having only managed to listen to 3 or 4 songs, I’m enjoying it. So, thank you!

I think Souness has privately settled his bill with HMRC for the 30k he recieved. He’s a wealthy man and would have just paid up to make it go away.

Now he’s paid his dues and has nothing to hide. He’s putting Sir David Murray right in it.
